It's about changing your relationship with them.

Instead of fighting every thought that appears, you learn to notice it, let it be, and gently return to the present.

I’ve had to start over more than once in my life.

I’m an empath, a single mom, I’ve lived through abusive relationships and I also live with several autoimmune illnesses, and over time I’ve learned that healing isn’t just emotional—the body carries what the mind tries to forget.

One of the simplest tools I still return to every week is a list of assertiveness rights introduced by psychologist Manuel J. Smith in his book When I Say No, I Feel Guilty (1975). He created it to help people unlearn guilt, people-pleasing, and the kind of conditioning that makes you ignore your own boundaries just to keep the peace.

It’s so simple. It should be obvious. But for a long time, it wasn’t for me:

I have the right to say no.

I have the right to change my mind.

I have the right to make mistakes.

I have the right to my own opinions and beliefs.

I have the right to ask for what I need or want.

I have the right to be treated with respect.

I have the right not to justify or explain my decisions.

I have the right to protect my emotional and physical well-being.

I have the right to leave situations or relationships that harm me.

I have the right to put myself first without guilt.
