one aspect of katara that’s overlooked in canon & fanon when it comes to kataang is her love for stories and storytelling, and her feelings on the legend of oma and shu

every episode of the show starts with katara telling us the story of the world, but the first one especially has the secondary purpose of informing us of katara’s character: we know she grew up hearing stories of the avatar and other benders from her grandmother, and said stories inform her hope and belief in the avatar that she repeats in the other intros

then, she actually meets the avatar, travels the world with him, watches as he grows into the avatar she heard about for all these years, but also comes across other benders from her grandmother’s stories and more stories of benders across the world.

one story she happens to narrates in a cave with the boy she likes, that happens to be the same avatar, of 2 benders who fall in love, during a war, while mastering the same element, and one of them dies.

and then they kiss, leave and the events of the story unfold between her and aang. except she gets to brings him back, end the war and found her unifying city with him.

for a girl who believes in the occult, reincarnation and was raised on stories that eventually come true, i know she thinks often about how she ended up in a romance that has already been told and it would just further fuel her this-is-so-meant-to-be feelings for aang as adults lol
