If Draco gets a redemption arc, so does Ron!

Imagine whatever pairing you'd like to this, but my headcanon is:

My absolute favorite Ron is the one that went to a lot of therapy, got really into womens’ and gender studies and critical race theory podcasts, courtesy of Hermione (“They’re like books but not boring!”), and grows into himself. He and Lavender reconnect after the war. They want they same things, namely a big family, and she makes him feel seen for just himself. He loves all his kids, but worries the most about the darker ones. He makes lists of questions for Hermione so he can minimize the amount of emotional labor on his wife. She loves it and also taught him to use Google.

He is entirely Molly’s son. He helps George during the busy seasons but loves being a stay at home dad. He gets competitive about the school bake sale (and LOVES writing with puffy paint) and saves every piece of art his kids make. His greatest fear is not living up to his father.

She caught a whiff of the most delightful scent and couldn’t stop herself from bringing the vial closer and breathing deep. Her eyes fluttered closed, and she let out a soft sigh.

The aroma was intoxicating. And not what she remembered. Inhaling once more, Hermione was able to pick out the individual notes. The first two were to be expected, but the third…

Her eyes snapped open and focused on the closed door of the office across from hers.

In my personal headcanon, Daphne is an aloof and slightly damaged child of privilege and Theo is an obnoxious, queer misfit with a penchant for pastels. I think it's fairly obvious who I picture when I think of Theo 😂

I read two really, really lovely Dramione fics over the weekend that have stuck with me ever since finishing and thought I would share the recs!

An Education by icognitotoro

39 chapters, M rating. This just finished up and since I am a committed WIP-avoider (I have had my heart broken by abandoned fics too many times), I waited until it was done to binge it. And it was absolutely everything I love about a Dramione fic: banter! antagonistic relationship! redeemed Draco! badass, bossy-pants Hermione! forced partnership! really lovely fluff & stuff! steamy romance! It was funny & sweet & so fucking hot, but also the tension was really well done and the entire thing was just generally such a great read.

The Oblivious Ones by diamondaydream

30 chapters, T rating. Completed last year, somehow this one slipped past me and I’m so glad to have stumbled across it. It’s incredibly well written and a joy to read, the characterization of Hermione is one of my favorites I’ve read recently. It delves into some really interesting and complex ideas of free-will and trauma, in ways that I don’t think I’ve ever come across in fanfic before. It makes some super on-the-nose observations about Hermione’s role in canon and how she was done a disservice. The romance is lovely, but the parts that really stuck with me were the healing both Draco & Hermione go through as they deal with their own specific traumas. A beautiful work. Also! One of my favorite handling of Ron in a Dramione fic ever. I am not here for Ron-bashing and love to see a fic treat him with respect. He makes mistakes here, but so does Hermione. And he gets a HEA too. Love to see it.
