It's about to be April 1st and I just realized I've been lucky enough to be apart of 10 releaases this year and we're only 4 months in!!! A huge chunk of work that I produced last year (and years prior) is finally coming out as well as a ton of music I've made for my solo project. "Reeling" by Janna Jamison just came out YESTERDAY. This is the 2nd single off of her upcoming EP to come out and I can't put to words how excited I am for the world to hear it. This song in particular went through probably 6-7 different versions before it became the one you're hearing now. Having art that takes so many different shapes in its creative process is one of the most beautiful things to witness and it truly becomes a labor of love. BIG shouts out to Merit Gentile who shredded on guitar for this one, Noah Benson for laying down drums, and Beth J. Scott for tracking said drums and helping us sew this one together. David Turk is also the mastermind behind all the mixes on this upcoming EP and I'm so grateful to be such close friends with such a talented engineer. I was also honored to be apart of shooting the music video for Ms. Janna and we are almost done editing it so be on the lookout for that !!!

"The Lorax" by Janna Jamison came out February 16, but Janna dropped a music video a few weeks ago that we are all super proud of. I helped shoot and edit this video and there's really nothing more fun than making stuff with people you love!! Check out the music video HERE

"pick me up" by Bella Pardo released March 27!! This is Bella and I's 1st collaboration and I'm so hyped that she loved the song so much to wanna put it out right away. It becomes stressful as a producer to work on so much music and never know when it's going to come out, but I'm very grateful that wasn't the case with Bella. We got another one in the chamber that Im hyped on and I love working in her style of music!!

"DRAMA !" and "FAKE FRIENDS" by Shi La Rosa both came out in the month of March!!! A few more bangers that Shi La and I have been cooking on over the last year. She is such a talented writer and never short of any ideas and I'm super grateful for her friendship as a fellow artist and musician. We got so many bangers ready to come out and these are the perfect taste tests for people to check out.

"GETGO" by Lenny Beatnik just dropped March 25. Lenny and I met over TikTok and we linked up and made this on the first day we knew each other. I had made this beat before he came over and he just started flowing on it instantly. I initially wasn't planning on being on the track, but he asked me to get a verse on it and we wound up writing the hook together seamlessly. This is my 1st feature verse I've done as Joey Pepperjack and I couldn't be more honored. Lenny is definitely a generational talent who doesn't know how big he's about to be. The song came out so good that one of his buddies from grade school (who also happens to be a crazy talented creative director) asked him if he could direct the music video for us. In my 10+ years in the music scene nothing I have worked on has ever come together so smoothly. I'm very excited about how this came out and what Lenny's gonna cook up next. FINALLY - I put out Rain or Shine at the beginning of February on Bandcamp and Untitled. I wrote this song to be potentially featured in a Puma commercial, however I was so stoked on how it came out that I decided to just put it out for fun. Writing for sync placements has always been really fun because most of the time it feels like work before I do it but then reminds me how fun the music making process can be. This song came out on streaming 2 days before the GETGO video dropped so I havent had a proper chance to promo, however I'm going to make sure this song gets its shine (pun intended.) I am working on a music video for this one as we speak and I can't wait for everyone to see it.

One of my goals of 2025 was to build my producer catalog and create a body of work with an artist as a producer. I’ve been really lucky to meet some super talented artists along the way who have trusted me with their music, and allowed me to do just that. One of my goals of 2026 is to blog about all of the music I worked on as a producer. I like Substack, but I’d rather you support the music before you spend money on reading about it. So this one is for the real fans. Over the weekend, Janna Jamison and Shi La Rosa both dropped BANGER songs that I was privileged to work on.

 The Lorax is the first song Janna ever let me together which arguably laid the blueprint for helping us find our collaborative sound together. Watching this song take shape over the last two years - first in my LA bedroom studio, all the way to tracking guitars with Merit Gentile in my Brooklyn apartment, has really been an inspiring process. Janna has one of the sharpest pens and unmatchable wit. I feel truly grateful to have watched a true indie rockstar work so closely. 

Striptease, by Shi La Rosa, was actually the most recent song that she and I worked on. Shi La started the song with our good friend Colin Rowe and then asked me to give it a pass on production to see what I’d do with it. She always comes with great ideas and this was one of my favorite demos of hers that she had played me, so I was super stoked to throw down on it. She didn’t like my version at first, but eventually wound up loving it. My favorite thing about Shi La is her open-mindedness to my crazy ass ideas. I’ll be like “girl PLEASE let me put a dance break here it’d be so sick” and she might hate it at first but 9x out of 10 she comes around hahah. 

I’m really proud of my work as a producer. I want to work in every genre with every artist that I love. I also want to see every song I work get its shine. If anyone has any ideas on how I can promote music I have produced, I’d love to hear them. I try to think about what I wish my favorite producers would do to promote music that they worked on.

good morning tumblr dot com and instagram alike. I am here to announce that this Friday (February 6, 2026) I will be releasing my new song "Jaded" exclusively on Bandcamp and Untitled. This is my first time using the Untitled platform to release music, and needless to say, I am excited. They also include a new feature where you receive a signature from me (joey pepper) with your purchase. I dont like selling music but this feels like a good compromise with myself in the sense that I dont want this music to sit around on my laptop, but the only thing keeping me from releasing it is feeling like I am doing a disservice to the music by not having the resources to pour into promotion. well I think that's silly and I intend on finding the resources at some point, so why not put the music out now and then once I get the bag I blow it on siick promo?? or even make free promo from my bedroom that just so happens to blow up??? fuuuck it im down. I have nothing to lose. im going to make an Apple Music playlist monthly with some of my favorite artists and some of the influences that went into making this song. I dont have any new photos of me to promote this song, but I found this old picture of me when I was 12 before I lost the sparkle in my eyes. Before I was so jaded. anyways, hope you like the song.

I’ve also received so many kind words and such heartwarming feedback on 10SONGS. Friends I havent spoken to in years have reached out and told me their favorite songs. People I never thought even paid attention are sending me praise at random. A number of people have told me “LA/NY” is one of their favorite songs because I was so vulnerable on it. It’s funny cause, I felt like that song was too long, and I almost cut the story about me getting roofied from it. But the universe erased the project file from my hard drive, so I was forced to keep it as it was. As I tell these stories in my music, I’m reminded at how much I’ve been able to experience, and how much I wanna share that with people.

I’ll be releasing my next song February 5th, exclusively thru Bandcamp and Untitled. Follow me to get it first. I’m going to keep trying to make visuals while I’m paying off this debt. Thank you for those who care, who support, and any new friends I’ve made who are catching up to what I’m doing. It’s gonna be a big year for us.

ive been staying lowkey the last few weeks tryna get this bread up. i got scammed and my hard drive got wiped somehow, just some minor setbacks. No big deal. I have a few demos I want to put out for fun. I feel confident I can get back on my feet by the holidays. Ive been exercising, watching my diet, making good music, making money. I cant wait to package the things Ive been making. Determined to build this little world. <3

i started working on this song in 2023, around the same time I did pretend. I wanted a song that I could smoke and vibe to, but I couldnt get my mind off this relationship I had just gotten out of. It was funny to me that they had pretty similar subject matter and were completely different sonically. I didnt know how to get over my ex without being petty, but there was still a lot I was holding onto that I missed about us being together. I found the sample scrolling thru twitter one day, and got up out of bed as soon as I heard it. I made the whole thing in one sitting and didnt really change it much after that. It was the first time in a while that I made something so honest, and Ive been wanting to put it out ever since. It’s been performing pretty horribly numbers-wise, however I’ve had more people message me directly saying it’s their favorite and praising the production and my vulnerability lyrically. It really kind of sums up my whole mindset in the 6-8 months between getting my heart broken and moving to LA. I went on my first big tour in that time, and it felt like everything was moving so fast that I didnt really have time to process any of it. But I guess this is how I did. Anyway, I hope it helps you smile thru that heart ache.

i started writing this song in spring of 2023. my buddy sean hit me up to work on some music apart from my band, and this was the 1st thing we worked on together. i think this song was my first time working with another producer on my solo music that made me really excited to create a solo project. i remember when we were writing the bridge, my buddy sent me a song out of nowhere while i was trying to conceptualize what to say. he sent me "Doses and Mimosas" by Cherub. i love that song, however it was tainted by my ex from the amount of times we screamed it at the top of our lungs together on night drives, and it was already bad enough that she was the one who showed it to me citing it as her favorite song. coincidentally, this happened to be the very ex i was writing about at that exact moment. i replied back letting him know, to which he advised that I should sample it. this inspired me to interpolate the chorus of "Doses" for the bridge of pretend. it came out better than i could have imagined. it makes me so happy seeing people catch it and telling me they noticed it. anyway, i think the bridge/outro of this song is one of the prettiest things ive written. thanks for listening :)
