Mad as a cut snake matt black Rat Rod down at Woodridge today. Holding up the shingle for a tattoo studio and number plate TAT11 ... I suspect they are linked:)
Super tasty Maserati seen at the weekend. Had the pleasure to follow it and listen to it’s gorgeous exhaust note ... and then it ended up the same location I was going so I got to photograph it as well
Today I fell in love - I fell in love with a dream and an idea. While this dream may be too far fetched to ever come into being, the thought of not at least testing it feels so wrong that I cannot ignore it.
This lovely old pile of rust belongs to a long time family friend and was what she and her parents travelled around in during the early 70′s. It was their home while they built their house on the property where this bus now resides, and was my friend’s secret hidey hole.
Now, the ravages of time have taken their toll, but ... just but. What if it isn’t too far gone? What if there is enough spirit and life left in the bones of this gorgeous beast to bring her back?
Even Miracle Max would have to admit, “Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.”
Mid-1930′s Morris 8 Tourer (or convertible) in great condition for an 80 year old car!

While out on my Sunday ride, I saw this great old Bedford bus. A heritage vehicle, it appears in the old Queensland Education Department. Superb looking piece of 1950s (?) automotive design.
A lovely bit of Art Deco architecture that has been preserved in Brisbane - the remains of the Hornibrook Bridge. It is a very significant piece of architecture as it was a critical link between and Brighton and Clontarf connecting the Redcliffe Peninsula to Brisbane for so long. (see more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornibrook_Bridge)
Gorgeous XP Ford Falcon Coupe street machine. Great number plate and somewhat subtle bonnet scoops
Once more in the Clayfield/Woolowin area and discovered this lovely baby blue Late Bay. I was also fortunate to meet the owner of this bus and got a chance to chat to him (he had just bought the new Smiley dash mat) which is a great experience as I am yet to meet an owner who doesn’t love their bus. Looking forward to the day I finally get one.
Very neat Lowlight Bay Delivery Van seen in Clayfield. Very interesting treatment on the side door with the twin port windows ... wonder why they chose that?

Speedway Road Kombi by Gordon Dobson Via Flickr: Seen in Latrobe, Tasmania on the apron of Speedway Road Motorcycles was this neat Bronze Bay kombi.
Fargo Truck Rod by Gordon Dobson Via Flickr: A rodded 1940 Fargo 1/2 Ton Truck belonging to the Glimar Man (a professional artist apparently) seen in Battery Point, Hobart. I liked that with this shot there is not much clue to modern intrusions.
Art Deco Tassie - Hobart and Battery Point
There wasn’t too much time in Hobart but I did get a little walk-around in Battery Point where found a couple of nice little deco gems. Also, the imposing Hobart City Council building, built in 1938, is a superb example of the movement with all the vertical lines and the streamline elements.
Art Deco Tassie - Climar, Campbell Town
This particular one is in historic Campbell Town, about 70km south of Launceston on the Midland Highway. This building has some cracker deco elements (like the curves and big rectilinear chimney) it is the little features like the musical notes on the fence that I particularly like.
Art Deco Tassie - Neptune Grand Hotel, Penguin
In a recent trip to Tasmania, I was fortunate to find a few fine examples of Art Deco architecture. This particular one is the Neptune Grand Hotel in the sleepy seaside town of Penguin. While there are now few distracting elements, you can still see the clean lines of the original intent.

Take me anywhere and I am still going to find a Kombi. Technically it was the second one today but as the other was seen driving in the opposite direction and I was banned from pulling a handbrake assisted 180° in the highway, I had to accept this one alone
Wouldn't be a Brissie to the Bsy bike ride if I didn't spot at least on Kombi. This lovely pair parked at the back if Wynnum were just begging for their photo to be taken
