Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?

The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!

This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.

Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:

Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or

Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.

The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.

The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).

Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.

"The fun thing for us for that end sequence was his costume -- what he would have left over from the ship. I don't really think you see it in the film but the trousers that he's wearing, they're cut from one of the flight suits. And we've done a belt buckle that's made of xenonite that Rocky would've made for him. And all of the sewing on it is a little bit - it's nowhere near as good as Jenny would normally do, so we had to purposely ask Jenny to do bad sewing at the top of his trousers, so it'd look like he would've done it.

And then our brilliant breakdown department, run by Tim Shanahan, they break everything down to look like it's 10, 20 years old. So his cardigan and the t-shirt's all faded. And even on the laces -- the laces in his chuck taylors -- because your laces always break after a certain period of time, so we found stuff that was on the ship, like elastics and stuff. There's a nice big close-up actually in the film, so you can see that they're not normal laces, they're like stuff that he would've got from the ship that he's made as make-shift laces."

Measurehead telling you that he thinks kim has a childlike wisdom or the lorry driver's lines in general are very obviously agressing kim and demeaning him. It doesnt get interspersed with anything else- the racism's motivations are emotionally uncomplicated. But also lot of the worst racists in the game are not only dismissive of kim- they also blatantly want him to like and respect them.

Lena is very obviously self conscious about spouting her own views about race in kims presence, not because she doubts them but because she knows that he might take offense and she doesnt want to offend him.

Gary's one of the most aggressive racists of the game, spouting slurs and little barbs at kim with no provocation whatsoever. He doesnt respect him and chips away at his authority by insulting him and outright calling him like a nonperson. Not a real cop. But he also falls over himself to capitulate to kims authority as a cop when hes on his back foot. He seems genuinely ashamed of himself and starts rattling off seolite historical accomplishments that demonstrate that theyre ok by him (an absolutely deranged and still virulently racist attempt to extend an olive branch to kim which tells you absolutely everything you need to know about gary and how he interfaces with the world and with other people)

Harry's fasc run is, from what ive seen, Defined by a neurotic preoccupation with punishing/demeaning kim but also keeping him close and getting him to like and admire him

This also is evident amongst the sexists of the game as well: some of the most overtly feminist men (im thinking josef lilianovich "im so proud of my matronym and my egalitarian world view" dros and harry "inexplicable feminist agenda" du bois here) are also the most profoundly sexist

In fact, Rene's role seems basically ornamental. The dock workers union seems to be invested in taking care of the older ppl in their community, like w The Pigs. Letting Rene hang out as a nightwatchman is basically community outreach- they just want him to feel useful and retain some dignity by working.

He even seems aware of this and on top of that he hates them for being soc dems, and yet he's still working for them. Or yknow "working for them"

Like gary hates and fears black and working class ppl so he would hate rene and measurehead on sight and if he talked to them he'd probably dislike korty and co as well. It certainly would help that he looted lelys corpse. Meanwhile, measurehead dislikes occidentals on principle so gary and the mercenaries are not probably not his cup of tea. Doubly so for gary who is also weak and pathetic which measurehead hates way more. Rene is super into his own revochalian identity so measurehead is not for him. And gary is a braying asshole whos obsessed w military history but is a total coward w no battle experience so like rene would hate him. And the mercenaries are self described racists who murder black ppl specifically so they wouldnt like rene or measurehead, and they also seem to consider all martinaise inhabitants as subhuman regardless of race even tho they particularly target black ppl. Cus theyre conditioned to see the places theyre deployed in as 3rd world shitholes inhabited by npcs. So to them gary is just another loincloth and loudmouthed besides.
