Not sure if you’ve answered this before but do you have a link to where we can watch the raggedy ann stuff? Not sure if it’s a movie or a series.
I haven’t been asked this yet!
Here’s a MASTERPOST of all the Raggedy content available for all your Raggedy needs 🌻☀🎀
Cartoons~
The movie “Raggedy Ann and Andy; A Musical Adventure” (1977) can be watched on youtube here! Sadly the only way to watch this movie online, the only other option is to buy the original VHS
This is the movie that has Babette, Susy Pincushion and Sir Leonard Looney. It’s where most of the inspo for the characters in my art comes from so give it a watch!
If the link expires or if the video is ever taken down, I can make a Google Drive from my copy but that is worst case scenario…
There are also Halloween and Christmas Chuck Jones cartoons that came out a year later (1978).
Chuck Jones did tons of work for the Looney Tunes, and made things like “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, so check those out if you like his works!
There are also a few Fleischer studios cartoons from the 1940′s: Raggedy Ann and Andy, Suddenly It’s Spring and The Enchanted Square!
Fleischer studios is responsible for characters like Betty Boop, Popeye the Sailor and Superman!
There’s also a series that ran on CBS in 1993 that is not well known about. Most of the 13 episodes are lost media. There are two episodes available on youtube here and some other things recovered; however they are not very good.
Stale child acting, rushed screenplay and low budget are very apparent in this adaptation. It’s akin to things like “The Berenstain Bears” and “A Pup Named Scooby Doo” using actors and writers from those shows but without the nostalgia factor.
Books~
The first two books “Raggedy Ann Stories” (1918) and “Raggedy Andy Stories” (1920) can be found as HTML copies for free! These are a compilation of short stories that Raggedy Ann and Andy get into, they’re a second favorite to me personally for things Raggedy after the movie.
Please be aware that there are some stories in these books that can be seen as dated in being politically incorrect with stereotypical depictions of POC which really sucks. If you don’t want to read those stories or want those pieces omitted, SEND ME A PM and I will be happy to send you a scanned copy of the physical books that have been censored!
As for the rest of the books, they are available for purchase on Apple books for $3.99 each. That’s the cheapest I could find them for online that doesn’t require a subscription.
Other Media~
There was a musical called ‘Rag Dolly’ that performed on broadway seven times before being banned.
Most of the music, script and footage are considered lost media however, there is an article diving into what has been found and links to recovered footage and music!
There is a Snowden on Ice show featuring Raggedy Ann and Andy as main characters sort of
It’s definitely not on par with the movie, the only reason I’m including it is because Raggedy media is scarce.
There are some other things like audio recordings and comic books that are referenced in the Wikipedia article for Raggedy Ann, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to access those
So yeah, that’s all the content that is readily available. If I missed anything don’t hesitate to add onto this!
The 13 episodes of the CBS Raggedy Ann show can be found in full on Dailymotion. Here is a link: https://www.dailymotion.com/exewhy/videos I bought animation cels from this show because I’m a dork. There are still a lot of cels for sale from this show on Ebay
Forgot to mention that there is also a documentary on how the Broadway musical did in the USSR
There’s a video on someone going over the script of the Broadway musical as well here!
