i'm probably gonna say very little about fandom discourse around this ep because spring break starts next week and i'm running out of sanity but actually. i love everyone on the pitt being flawed and fucked up and nasty sometimes. i love robby being a hypocrite and repulsed by samira's anxiety because he's repulsed by his own. i love that, alternatively, samira is repulsed by her mother's loneliness because she's repulsed by her own, too. i love santos blaming langdon for her ostracization at the ED and her unwillingness to see that, separate of the langdon issue (however separate you can make it), if you go around being an asshole to your peers all the time, some people are just not going to fucking like you. i love that its garcia specifically who checks santos for the lack of decorum she's displaying in front of their patients in this ep because garcia herself could arguably stand to have a bit more decorum when talking about patients and she's also treating santos like a dogggg right now. i love that mel is overstepping boundaries with becca and coddling her in a way that doesnt allow becca the space she deserves to be an autonomous adult with autism who should be respected on her own terms because mel's also struggling with what it means to be an autonomous adult with autism who should be respected on her own terms. i think there's a difference between a show depicting characters behaving badly and cosigning their bad behavior. i think a good character and a good person are separate categories. i love that this is a show that isn't so obsessed with likability that it keeps its characters from behaving badly.
frankly, i hope these characters keep fucking up, and i hope they keep getting checked by their fellow fuck ups, because that's life, brother. there is no divine priestly class of sinless people who exist to tell the "bad" people off for their missteps. and i hope that, as the show progresses, we see robby, santos, mohan, langdon etc make more mistakes and better mistakes. and i love that this show, for all its flaws, is (imo) still holding true to its premise that people are not wholly defined by their best moments or their worst. no matter how uncomfortable it is to sit with that nuance or how tense that makes an episode of television lol.

Demon slayer is truly a good example as to what good story telling is. The big picture plot is simple, kill the bad guy, but itâs refreshing to me. The main themes are common to what media has seen before what is humanity, what is a good or bad person? Things like that.
I donât think every anime is gonna be revolutionary, but I do think that every anime can bring something new. I think demon slayer brought a new way to execute themes weâve seen before.
I mean thereâs
No filler
The characters training coincides with the power ups which is to say that you visually see the hard work
The demons characters are cool because they have context to their actions but itâs not an excuse. Wether you go towards the light or the dark itâs something they have to reconcile
Shows how good of a villain Muzan is and how unredeemable he is
Something thatâs so fascinating to me is how can we have watched the same shows but the only thing some people will notice wow fighting good versus the complex themes a show will actually have
How I feel about Gwen and Duncan from Total Drama they were better as homies as a youth I was like yeah otp but now I liked the dynamic they had season 1 of Total Drama
Currently watching Transformers (2007) and I will forever be resentful at the fact that bumblebee went from a 1977 camero to the model year of the movie
Saw the fnaf movie and I want to have a talk cause I have all these thoughts about it and I havenât felt this way since stranger things season 4 lol.
Iâm just confused (?) cause like there was a lot of different pieces of the lore in just one movie. So like before I go into breaking down my thoughts I want to say what my expectations are before I saw this movie so thereâs some understanding. I thought this movie was gonna give a cohesive big picture type story on the lore. I thought that since there was a rumor it was gonna be 5 movies, I was under the impression that this movie gonna lay the lore out. I was really hoping for a cohesive story.
So now the movie I liked parts of the movie I liked the fact that attention to detail on the lore and the fans were in mind. What I donât like is the storyline they decided to do, just to simplify my feelings for people who havenât seen the movie I ultimately thought that they put bits and pieces of the lore in the movie i donât wanna say for no reason but it did make me go hmmm what just happened. I donât think the story wasâŚgood?. The costume and filming, and actors did a good job! I really wanna emphasize that lol. Thank you to @raminbootss on tik Tok for posting a slid show of the lore for the games.
âźď¸Spoilers after this/ I essentially write an essay and ramble please read at your own discretion. âźď¸
So Iâm assuming people whoâve seen the movie are reading this, but Iâm going to briefly write down the movies lore.
Mike and Abby are siblings, there was a third sibling called Garret
Garret is kidnapped from the woods by William Afton
Mike has ptsd because he was thereâs at the kidnapping but canât remember the kidnapperâs face (guilt)
Mike induces dreams to revisit the memory to force himself to remember the kidnapperâs face
Vanessa comes in is a cop and later is established as Aftons daughter
Afton kidnapped Garret and other children Vanessa helps Afton cover it up
Itâs a stupid simplification, but this is just so itâs understandable. Iâm gonna essentially attack this one by one. To me it doesnât make sense why Garret was kidnapped in the woods by Afton specifically. I feel like itâs so random/unnecessary to have it in the woods because itâs outside of Aftons mo in the established lore. If the story is to have Mike have zero familiar ties to Afton I think a better route to just have Garret be kidnapped so that way Mike is projecting on to the ghost children as a way to have redemption for not saving Garret. The movie sets it up this way in the first half where it felt like there was gonna be this big reveal with maybe Mike having some sort of connection to the kidnapper. However Vanessa throws that all off with being Aftonâs daughter. Like Fanf 4 they use the concepts of dreams and memories cool nothing wrong with that I think that it was a good way for the ghost children to communicate with mike. My biggest grief I think is that Afton is controlling the ghost children. I think it wouldâve been so much better to have the children ask Mike for help to find peace. This also wouldâve been a better way for Mikeâs character to deal with his grief of losing his brother cause now he can move on.
Moving on to Vanessa, I think that the introduction to Vanessa is done too early. Vanessaâs character in this movie is a caretaker to the animatronics because she feels guilty that her dad killed these kids. Which is fine I donât mind this being a thing since itâs up to debate on security breach being cannon or not. I just think that the setup of Vanessa is done poorly maybe itâs the fact she was a cop where she honestly had no business being at Freddyâs instead of doing her job before the reveal of her being Aftonâs daughter. They couldâve made her the morning shift security guard I think that wouldâve made better sense cause now she can have a way to talk to Mike. Sheâs just is suspicious off the bat when sheâs a cop, and canât establish trust with Mike. I think theyâre was a better way for her to have a redemption because Mike and her share a similarity, the both share guilt of not doing something to help these kids that died.
Letâs get into Afton so the set up for him is actually great because if I remember correctly during the beginning of the gameâs release a theory did float around that maybe phone guy is the killer so he had a great set up I just donât understand why the reveal of him being Afton is done so early. On one side I understand the fact that everybody knew that Matthew lillard was already gonna be Afton from the moment the trailer is revealed. Itâs hard to make that twist be entertaining when the audience knows what you are going to do. On the other hand I donât think Afton was utilized properly. So many different routes couldâve been taken. Also why did Afton kidnap Garret in the woods??? Antonâs m.o is he kidnaps children from the pizzeria in the bunny suit which they kept in the movie for the five children why kidnap Garret? He wasnât even stuffed in a suit. In my opinion the movies opening scene shouldâve been taken place in Freddyâs. This is blumhouse theyâve done horror theyâre couldâve been a really strong suspense scene of watching this kid get kidnapped or seeing this kid get in the suit literally anything and really playing off the audienceâs anxiety. If you do it this way you can still have Mike relive this memory. Anyways itâs revealed at the end of this movie that Afton is controlling the ghost children with a drawing so that they do as theyâre told. Which like sure okay? I understand that they wanted to put drawings to be involved but I donât know if I buy it. They also just kill Afton how heâs established to be killed in a spring lock suit how are you gonna set up a sequel that way? There is no build up or like finally you get what you deserve. The bad guy we watch died and sure he says I will come back but likeâŚidk I think ultimately it doesnât make me want to see a sequel because theyâre was no cliffhanger or suspense. The vibe is just off. Matthew did such a good job though that phone scene really hyped up everything.
I tried talking about this to my sister but she said that they wanted to open this up to newer audiences. I think thatâs lame because when the first game got released the hype about it was the mystery what is the bite of â87 who killed these kids, THE LORE. This movie doesnât do that it answers all the questions in the first movie into a pretty little bow of oh Afton did it and now the ghost children kill him the end. The video-game went viral proving itself that the story set up will bring in a new audience that mikes background had to be changed. I feel like Mike is the catalyst for Afton to be caught so for it to be changed is a really huh moment for me.

actually you should watch g-witch if purely for the constant straightbaiting, featuring such examples as âmisogynist goes through a Redemption Arc⢠and spend the entire show getting his ass kicked both before and afterâ and âcold, quiet guy with a heart of gold literally dies before he can get to go on a date with sapphic protagonistâ and âthe Iâm Not Like Other Guys Iâm Your Childhood Friend dude is revealed to be indeed not like those other guys except heâs worseâÂ
You know what Eddie Munson feels like just in general, he feels like Ash Lynx from banana fish where you just think both of them deserve happiness and your plagued with thoughts on what they could have been
