"Sometimes folks you love tell you extremely difficult things about yourself, and not in the midst of an argument either. It’s like hearing this from a lover: ‘Listen, I adore you and if you want me, all of me, then you have to choose that because right now I feel like a hobby. I’ve thought about it and it’s not a high maintenance thing. If you don’t want more right now, if you don’t want all of me, then I don’t fault you and I’m not mad. I understand that what I’m asking for is all of you, and that’s scary. So think about it and let me know. I love you regardless and I mean that. ‘Bread and Bleeding’ is about the aftermath of hearing one of those really hard to digest things.  It’s like the tiny explosion in your life that happens after a really loving ultimatum."
