𑣲⋆ during zero gravity, at some point there's definitely a scene straight out of that Scott Pilgrim trend (yk the one where one character is slightly higher than the other while they're floating, and they just look at each other). peak cinema in my head
𑣲⋆ there absolutely has to be a sad scene where Iruka shows Kakashi and Rocky his classroom, and tells them about each student (especially stopping to talk about Naruto). and at some point he just can't hold it together anymore and gets all teary-eyed. Kakashi, in turn, shows them his 8 dogs that he left back on Earth, and he has this locket around his neck with Pakkun's paw print (that he made right before leaving Earth)
𑣲⋆ I was thinking it'd be symbolic to make the third pilot (the one who didn't wake up) Obito. like, Iruka and Kakashi weren't really close before the mission (they'd only seen each other at some conferences), but Obito and Kakashi not only worked together, but were also best friends. and Kakashi took it really hard, even though he never showed it. bro was suffering in silence fr
𑣲⋆ Kakashi was the last one picked as a pilot, and he actually tried to run away and refused to do it at first (like Grace)
𑣲⋆ everything related to upgrading Rocky (like the voice sensor, his box, and all that) was done by Kakashi. and in that sense, they bonded really fast. even though at first, Kakashi was completely against going out of the ship and "establishing connections with god knows who." so Iruka went without him. and Kakashi only went out because he was worried about Iruka (ready to protect at any moment)
𑣲⋆ I love that Rocky is like this shared idea between Iruka and Kakashi in this AU, cause Rocky is really good at both chemistry and physics.
𑣲⋆ during some misunderstandings or arguments, Iruka would actively vent to Rocky (who didn't get why they couldn't just talk it out ngl). Kakashi would go to his room and listen to music, staring at the space sky. and then ofc they'd talk later, Kakashi would apologize just in case, and Iruka would just hug him
𑣲⋆ and oh yeah, speaking of touch! Iruka is super physically affectionate. at first he'd ask Kakashi for permission, but after a while he'd just walk up and hug him. no questions asked. and they actually taught Rocky to do the same
𑣲⋆ also in this AU, Iruka wears glasses pretty often!
𑣲⋆ I also really love the idea that Kakashi would teach Rocky how to fetch a ball. yeah, like a dog. and they'd just chase each other all over the ship, until Iruka would finally yell at them to knock it off
𑣲⋆ I think the confession would happen during some kind of emergency situation. like, there was a hole in the ship, they were falling, and only right before death Kakashi was ready to actually say it (I'm picturing a scene with no lights, them sitting in a corner, alarms blaring everywhere, Iruka already saying goodbye to life and being like "we're all gonna die," until Kakashi takes his hand and says it's now or never because he's terrified of not saying something again and regretting it for the rest of his life). he was really scared of rejection, and tbh he's just not great with emotions in general. plus he was terrified Iruka would reject him — not even because he didn't feel the same way, but because what if he turned out to be homophobic? (Kakashi knew he wasn't, but his anxiety was eating him alive about it anyway). and when it turned out everything was fine and nobody was gonna die, they still avoided each other for a long time, until Rocky noticed and literally almost smashed their heads together to make them talk it out))
𑣲⋆ at first, Rocky designed their house on the new planet all by himself. and Iruka and Kakashi just stared at their bedroom in shock it was literally fifty shades of grey in there. and they both yelled at Rocky, who had absolutely no idea what was wrong, because in one of the Icha Icha episodes... and after Iruka found out where Rocky got that inspiration from, he was only yelling at Kakashi :D
𑣲⋆ Kakashi also taught Rocky how to show a dislike (which was actually a like) just for the sake of a joke. while Iruka was keeping an electronic diary, Kakashi would try so hard to stay out of the frame (and it was lowkey hilarious). but Rocky and Iruka would catch him on purpose every single time
