this blog is in honor of the new skz teaser bcs im too embarassed to put theories on my actual skz blog. here goes:
the system forces the artist to continously sell and buy themselves; its based on the standardisation of art, yet excessive multiplication of the same formula which does not hinder the passionate and excessive consuming of it (only propagates)
[han is auctioning his own self; and minho's photo which 'captures' the live him finds itself directly there as well, amongst bidders with all the same faces as the seller]
they cannot escape their own images, and have to expand the meaning of what it means to be themselves, to express themselves, when constantly captured and performed (forced to do it to themselves)
idea of authenticity. amongst all the superability, glamour, and high achievement [changbin a commanding, exquisite chef; han the auctioneer of the highest art, hyunjin photographed and among 'art enjoyers' who dance and make merry; lee know! the photographer who captures the models who also look like him→ but here is that, his attention is captured by one who doesnt act like the others]
outcast finds themselves pursued (changbin), looked at (hyunjin), is haunted by all the disconcerting similarity (chan), photographed and sold (minsung), consumed and sold again literally as well. with felix
what are you running from and what are you getting into? is there a you, amongst all the things around you, something that makes you realise you when everyone around you is doing the same thing as you, likes the same things, thinks the same things? (when the actor reconnects with the hyunjin scene except theyre in a room with everyone dancing while hyunjin is in a room with everyone clapping)
↪ is the idea abt the consistent chase towards 'actual' art? not the high culture of conformity and silence, but where the value is within its ability to 'move' people, and how the actor and hyunjin almost becoming one, both realise the point of this exercise(?)
almost in all cases the doppelganger skz interacts with are makers, doers, servers (i.n), in some way, part of the process that creates (han is there to make everything look super attractive <3 and hyunjin is there to be charmed by people who look like him apparently)
seungmin is the only one not replicated. he's guarding the 'singular' experience of this particularly disconcerting and inescapable feeling (that skz are going through). he's distributing the sameness, or letting them have a chance to figure it out.
THE MESS IS THE NOISE OUT OF WHICH THEY MAKE A SONG THAT BREAKS WITHIN THE DISCONCERTING SAMENESS TO ESCAPE TO NEW DIMENSIONS
and connectvity (actor to hyunjin to actor to hyunjin) among listeners who have trusted to enter and listen
also. the language fails them. everything is referred to in a such a way that devoids them of individuality, uniqueness or speciality (and hence nuance, complexity etc). the artist communicates with the listener within such chaos and lack of language (i guess that's the thesis of skz music here? the scene where the headphones is pulled off and on and off with hyunjin, and music starts to make sense almost bcs of the external discomfort.)
im hundred percent reaching beyond wit here, but its kind of the consistent skz music stand: art that stands out, that becomes from the noise something that is appreciated not despite it but bcs of it. this time theyre just extending the limits and constraints placed upon them, by the industry, the success, the inherent voyeurism fans feed upon, the consumerism culture art is forced into where it has to consistently improve without ever changing in essence.
etc and many such delusions (will attach relevant photos)
