To be honest I never gave a thought to the Selkie curse going to anyone besides Caviar and Tortuca. I don't think Anything would have happened to Pearl beyond just turning into an ordinary seal. See the thing is, Tortuca has Pearl's original powers, plus the Selkie Curse, so I'm working on the line that it's less the Selkie Curse and more of a Combo of both the Selkie curse and the Sea tear mixing into something big nasty and smelling vaguely of Durians. If Pearl got whammied by the Selkie curse, without her powers she would have turned into an Ordinary Seal and most likely fled the Shark in the confusion. Thusly after repelling the Durianeers, Captain Caviar would have started sailing to track her down, because he looks after his crew, and a single seal in a very big ocean is going to be in a lot of danger, not just from Pirates. Which would keep him away from the Creme Republic, which would ultimately result in the same situation that the story is currently in in Worldbuilding stakes, only now instead of finding an intelligent cookie you have to track down someone who has the instincts and intelligence of Neal the Seal.

Heh, Thanks! I actually really enjoyed bouncing Staghorn and Pearl against each other. As I look at it Staghorn at the beginning of Seeking Selkies is keeping themself from murdering Pearl outright in revenge. I've always seen Staghorn as the pragmatic one of the Coral Duo to Blue's emotional aspects. Very Left Brain/Right Brain sort of dynamic. As Pissed as they are, Pearl knows where to go, moreover Pearl is keeping Cod calm and co-operative, which is kind of key. I suspect as things go on Staghorn's feelings have gone from Cookiecidal Rage to more...mixed feelings. Discovering some things about themself, what with what is discovered at the Lunar Lighthouse has kind of made it worse. I suspect Blue is also keeping Staghorn calm as well, though I didn't write anything about that. I think by the end of this Staghorn is going to settle into "Disapproving Child/sibling." - Cav and Pearl aren't exactly subtle with their budding feels after all throughout the entire series, and while Staghorn was ambivalent to Pearl and Caviar becoming a Thing, knowing Pearl's nature now has Staghorn cautious and protective of their Captain.

Honestly what bothers me more is my inability to zero in on a good playlist for Captain Caviar Cookie. I mean, yeah sure the Longest Johns are a solid choice, but the Cookie in question was seen at a Rock Festival, he's gotta have some choices.
