damn, she looked pretty pissed off. adonis kind of liked it. he was trouble that way. even after spending the last few weeks trying to smooth things over between himself and emery, he still somehow managed to stumble directly into the one thing guaranteed to put them at odds. it was almost a talent at this point. "well, it doesn't matter how many times you said it," he replied, completely unbothered. "you left it here. basically in my possession." his shoulders lifted in an easy shrug, that jaunty grin still stretched across his face. adonis knew full well he was only a few sentences away from digging his own grave, yet that never seemed to stop him from picking up the shovel.
"woah, hold on now..." his brows shot upward at the mention of another man, the faintest flicker of jealousy threading through him before he could help it. "don't bring idris into this." he raised a hand lazily, as if he could simply wave the entire subject away. by then, he was already slipping on his shoes and reaching for his keys. "right, you don't get in your feelings..." his gaze slid toward her, sharp with amusement, like they both knew there was a little more truth hiding beneath that statement than either of them cared to admit. mostly, he was just enjoying himself. teasing her had always been one of his favorite bad habits. "come on." his voice grew firmer as he motioned toward the door. "let's go get you something sweet." a crooked smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he pulled the door open. "i don't feel like sleeping with one eye open tonight."
