i recently came to a sort of acceptance that my disabled life includes physical pain and fatigue but that suffering doesnt actually have to be the bedrock fact i base my life around. that suffering doesnt Have to accompany a mad fight against it. suffering is just a thing that happens, but your life should holistically have joy and safety surrounding it in growing concentric circles. that asking for help and helping others when able is part of what it means to be a person in community with other people. we help eachother move furniture, find and return strangers lost pets, move objects out of the road so other cars dont hit them, provide aid in emergencies for free, etc, and we dont think of those things as massive acts of charity but as the unspoken reality of every day interdependence. and theres no shame in me needing to be partially dependent on the help and kindness of others, because it keeps me in communion with others
