PATROL PARTNERS PRESENTS: PATROL PARTNERS 2024

That's right, you read that correctly, we're officially bringing Patrol Partners back for our second year! We thought long and hard, took the feedback from last year's participants to heart, and have made a number of changes that will hopefully help things run smoother this year. Some of those changes include how signups and team assignments will be handled, others include how check-ins will be managed, and others still include how things are handled behind the mod curtain. We will be sending out more details on all of that shortly, including an updated "Meet the Mods" post and "FAQ" post, so keep an eye out for those!

For now, here's the dates you need to know:

Server and signups open June 3rd at 12am CEST

Signups close June 17th at 12am CEST

Team announcements on June 24th at 12 CEST

Event opens on July 1st

Event closes on July 31st

We will have another AO3 collection set up by August 1st, with posting instructions posted in the server for Tumblr, AO3, and FFN.

FAQs

How do I sign up?

You have to join our discord server to sign up! Please DM this blog (@patrol-partners-batphandom) and you'll receive a link to the server.

Can I make art/memes/music/etc for my fic?

You are more than welcome to create other art mediums for the fic if you wish to, but it is not part of the event, since it's a writing event.

Can we sign up as a group?

Yes. To sign up as a group, you just need one member of the group to fill out the forms. In the forms we will ask for the names of all members of the group. All members of the group have to be in the discord server and react to check-ins. Can be groups of 2,3 or 4; although we don’t recommend a big group because communication starts to break down easily if the group is too big.

Do I need to have a group to participate?

No, you can sign up alone and we will pair you up with someone with similar tastes in writing.

Is NSFW content allowed?

Smut is not allowed.

How about horror, violence, gore, etc?

For horror elements, violence and gore, given the nature of the fandoms of the crossover, we will allow more leeway with it, if you and your partner(s) agree. When posting the fic, we only ask that everything is tagged properly. If you have doubts, you are welcome to talk to the mods about it.

How are we partnered up?

We will partner you with someone that fits you, given the answers to the sign up forms. In the sign up forms, we will ask you about your writing preferences (likes and dislikes) and approximately what you expect you can write in a month. Please read the questions carefully and answer honestly. We will try to pair you with someone with matching likes, but it really depends on how many people join and what they wrote for their sign up application. At the very least, we won’t pair up people with opposite tastes.

What happens if I have to drop out?

We will relocate your partner to a pinch hitter and give them extra time to finish the fic. So the impact is the least possible, please get in contact with a mod as soon as you know you need to step back.

How do I get into the event discord?

You need to DM our blog and you'll receive a link to the server.

How are we (partner(s) and I) going to organize the writing?

Completely up to you. We will provide a space to chat in the event discord, and advice on how to organize yourselves; but how the actual writing is going to happen depends on what works for the groups. You can talk in the provided threads or go to DMs, up to you and your partner.

Is there an AO3 collection?

Yes, there will be one made for the event closer to the posting date.

What happens if I have trouble with my partner (unresponsive, uncollaborative, etc)?

Please get in contact with a mod ASAP. We will find out what’s going on and look for the best solution for the situation. As a general rule, if someone misses 2 check-ins without explanation, they will be kicked out from the project and the server; and their partner will be reassigned or paired with one of our pinch hitters. In these special cases, extra time will be provided.

How will the check-ins be organized?

We will have a ticketing system in the event server. Basically everyone has to open a ticket and a private chat with the mods will open where they can say if everything is okay, if they need support, or if they have issues with their partner.

DPxDC Patrol Partners 2023 <- AO3 Collection

Congratulations to everyone that participated, we've officially made it to the end of July! We all had our rough patches, but together, we worked it out and pulled through!

Over the course of the next week, we'll be starting to see new fics posted for the world to read. We have an AO3 collection set up and a masterlist sitting in the drafts just waiting to be edited and posted. For those participants who we've given an extension to, their fics will join the collection and/or masterlist a week later. By the end of next week, all of the event fics will be posted, and we can't wait to share them with you all.

Thank you to everyone who participated, this event would not have been the same without you ❤️ thank you for putting up with us mods as we learned how to run an event like this, and thank you for just being amazing people.

To my fellow mods, thank you for the time and effort you've put into helping me create and mod this event. This event literally would not be here without you ❤️ thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to bring our shared idea into fruition and completion.

This is it! This is happening! The event has officially started! For the next month, our teams will be working their magic, creating fics and enchanting us all with their creativity. During that time, posts will probably be highly infrequent as we mods work to keep the event running a smooth as possible, but don't worry! This won't be the last you hear from us. On July 31st, we will post information on how fic posting will be done, followed by a masterlist on August 8th once all fics have been posted.

Hey y’all! As the event comes closer we’re exited to announce that we are accepting prompt submissions! Any prompts you submit will go to the event participants, and if inspiration strikes you’ll have a chance to see your ideas come to life!

We will no longer be accepting requests into the server. For those of you that want to show your support, there will be an Ao3 collection and tag for the event that will be released on July 31st and will close on the 8th.

Signups for the 2023 Patrol Partners Event close Tuesday the 20th of June, meaning you have one more day to request acess to the server and signup! If you miss the deadline, don't worry, you'll have other opportunities to show your support for those partaking in the event! At the end of July, an AO3 collection will be created and shared on our Tumblr page, along with links to any works published on here and other sites, so that everyone can enjoy the hardwork that our partnerships will have put into their fics!

Hello everyone! Due to some valid concerns that were brought to our attention, the server/event graphics have been redesigned using a much more mellow shade of green. We didn't want to update the graphics without sending out some sort of notice, and we also wanted to make sure you all know your comments, questions, and concerns are heard, even if it takes us a little while to respond ;)

The server has been open for the past week, and we've been super excited to see so many people joining us!

Hi everyone! As we head into the start of sign-ups (reminder that sign-ups open on the 25th of May), there are more things opening for the event!

We’ve mentioned that there will be a discord server, and today we have exciting news!

Next week, on Wednesday May 17th, the Patrol Partners discord server will be opening! The server will be a place for participants of the event to get to know each other, hang out, and ask questions, and us mods are all hoping you guys will have lots of fun with it!

This post is going to be a sort of how-to post on joining the server and keeping things easy and fun for everyone!

So, without further ado, I present to you…

How to Get (and stay) On the Patrol Partners Discord Server

Alright!!! This is going to be your favorite step-by-step guide! Failure to follow the instructions detailed in this post will result in removal from the discord server and event.

The following information does not apply to those of you on the Batpham discord server. You will all be sent a link through the server.

1. Send us a DM!

Please send us a DM on this tumblr. The DM should follow this format as closely as possible:

Hello! My name is [name] and I would like to request an invite to the Patrol Partners discord server. I am [discord name] on discord, and I am [Tumblr URL(s)] on tumblr. 

2. Read through the posts we have on this Tumblr

The contents of this tumblr page explain how the event will work, and, as the discord is for participants of the event only, you should know how the event works, and check to make sure you have a complete understanding on what will be required of you. If you have any questions, our ask box remains open for questions, as do our DMs.

3. Expect a wait

Every single one of the mods is human, which means we have schooling, jobs, sleep, food, hydration, and other life requirements that take up our time. We will not be available 24/7 to send you an invite, and you need to respect that. If the invite has not arrived after 5-6 days of sending a request, you may send another one. Sending more than two requests will result in all requests being ignored. 

4. Rules!!

This is the fun part. The following are basic rules that apply to the discord server. Please read these over before sending a request to ensure that you are able to follow them.

Listen to the mods

We run the server and the event. We have access to everything on the server, and we won’t do anything without a reason. So long as we are not asking for you to do something morally wrong, just listen to us. 

Respect each other

Be a decent human being. This is a co-authoring event and you need to be able to be able to collaborate with others.

Be mindful of triggers

There’s a list that you will be able to find on the server. Be nice and don’t trigger someone. One mention is fine, anything beyond that needs to be tagged out with a warning as to why.

Keep things in their designated channels

There are channels for a reason. Just keep things where they’re supposed to be. If you aren’t sure where something should go, feel free to ping one of the mods to ask!

Respect pronouns and names

Everyone has a pronoun role, and everyone has a name. If you aren’t sure what to call someone, ask. Otherwise, just be a decent human being and respect people’s names/pronouns

Don’t threaten people

Look, joking threats are fine, as long as everyone knows you aren’t serious, but please don’t threaten someone, with violence or otherwise. That is, in fact, illegal and a chargeable offense, one that we could possibly get the server shut down for should anything become of it.

Follow the rules.

This one’s obvious. If you aren’t sure how/why a rule is there, ask a mod!

What's with the different colors in your posts?

Hi! Dusky here! Let me see if I can answer your question :)

The aim for this co-writing event is to give folks the opportunity to work together with another writer or two on a single project. Once a partnership is formed, it will largely be up to them how exactly they split up the labor pool, though we will have a few examples listed as templates. The end goal for each partnership is a single storyline that all members have contributed to, posted somewhere for people to enjoy!
