I’m very much intrigued by this, but at the same time, I hope they reintroduce the original Gallifrey squad again. And that we get more answers for Narvin, Brax AND especially for Romana.

doctor who has an underlying racism problem, and nobody (nobody meaning both fans and the actual writers) has really done anything to stop it. yes, we've had a black doctor... who was immediately sidelined by a white woman. yes, we've had a brown master... who was sold out to the nazis by the same white woman.

the show has been racist since it began. it's had blackface and yellowface in some of the earlier serials. a lot of the earlier serials also have throwaway racist lines, and the famously racist mess that is "talons of weng-chiang." leela is a racist stereotype. (very few people bother to acknowledge this. stop calling leela a s*vage. it's a slur.)

martha's treatment is famously racist. hey, rtd? having a black woman repeatedly sidelined and traumatised in favour of a white woman who isn't even there is not a very good look. mickey is also treated badly by the doctor (being repeatedly called "stupid" and at one point blamed for rose's disappearance for no good reason).

making the first south asian companion a cop is also not a great look. but whenever i talk about this and ask fans to think critically about the show (or, god forbid, call out its racism), i get ignored and shut down.

tl;dr: your show is racist. the bare minimum you can do is acknowledge that.
