After 19 nights on an air mattress, 5 nights on hotel beds, and the hardest "see you laters" (not goodbyes) of my life. After 9 hours of driving (actually, *riding, thank you, Eric), followed by a night out in New Orleans. After new friends in the French Quarter, a flat tire in Lafayette, Louisiana and 25 minutes in a tow truck. After a new tire, 8 more hours of driving (er, riding again), after countless gas station (pee) stops, meeting other Buckle teammates at a Buc-ee's outside of #Houston, and picture stops at every state between Florida and Texas, I finally got to sleep in my own bed, in our new home, last night. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so happy to be sharing this adventure with the love of my life. The adventure continues. Our home for the night last night. This hotel was home to a doctor in the mid 1800's who lived there with his bride. The doctor's wife was from Iowa and became very homesick. The doctor wanted to make his wife feel at home but he knew the Louisiana soil would not be able to grow the fields of corn his wife longed for. He decided to have a cast-iron fence resembling corn stalks built around their home. The doctor's romantic gift to his beloved wife still stands in front of the house today over 100 years later.
