these are my first tattoos and they commemorate my recovery and keep me moving forward.

I come here early. Before the footsteps make the floorboards creak. Before there’s laughter in the kitchen. Before coffee is ground, bowls are packed, and quiet discussions of everyone’s plans are made. I sit in this bathtub and watch the sun come through that window over a mountain with no name. I sit here and try to forget. Because you’re already down the river, moving pebbles, dragging leaves, touching fish. Going somewhere. And I’m just dirty bath water, holding onto a mountain without a name.

Sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down…

It’s that time of year where cicadas like to drop dead all over the place.
