β¨ Welcome to the #pathandpractice tag community β¨
In the spirit of cultivating intentional community in the #pathandpractice tag, I have gathered some shared expectations and ideals from the witches whoβve helped shape this space. Remember, this is a community space. It is not mine, or any one person's, but ours. These thoughts come from the input and hopes of the people already participating, and theyβll continue to evolve as we do.
We want this to be a space for personal practice and lived tradition. That means weβll see posts that are messy, changing, and nonconforming--and thatβs a good thing.
Remember that practices and terminology will differ between paths and traditions. Words may carry different meanings depending on who uses them.
When we donβt understand something, weβll try to ask questions before drawing conclusions.
Weβll practice and advocate for radical kindness while engaging critical thought, discussing ethics, origins, and practice with care and respect for closed traditions and complex histories and heritages.
We want this tag to belong to real people sharing their real work and reflections. Please donβt post AI-generated writing or images here.
Weβll appreciate things that may not be βfor usβ while respecting those they belong to. We can learn about closed or personal practices without expecting to participate in them.
We understand that community takes work. We seek to contribute what we can, express gratitude to those who share their knowledge, and avoid placing unfair expectations on othersβ labor.
Weβll strive to make this a space where learning happens without fear of being βwrong,β and where knowledge or experience never defines someoneβs worth as a witch.
If you find that you donβt get on with a particular community member, please donβt let one person or one blog dampen your experience here. Use the block button and other tools available to you to cultivate your own dashboard and tag experience. Protecting your peace is part of tending community, too.
This is a sideblog managed by @slewfootwitch on behalf of the #pathandpractice tag.
We are also on Discord. Our server is 18+. A tumblr blog with age in bio/pinned and at least some personal posts is required to join (it does not have to be a witchcraft blog). Please Note: Our community guidelines are visible to everyone who clicks the link, even if they do not apply to join.

It's taken me ages to get this project on its feet, but we have made a collaborative grimoire for the Path & Practice community and the witchblr ecosystem. @pathandpracticegrimoire is officially open to submissions from server members, tag users, community members, and citizens of witchblr. It is very basic for now and will change and grow as this community project grows. This blog is entirely submission-based. All posts belong to their original authors. Please read our pinned post before submitting and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Please note: As this is a sideblog, we are unable to see, accept or publish submissions from users who have the blog mods blocked or who have been blocked by the blog mods. There is no way around this. It's just the way tumblr works. However, those users are still welcome to post and participate in the #pathandpractice tag.
This is not something we have ever done before or ever needed to do, but the harassment we dealt with in March/April has resumed. So, unfortunately, this is a step we have to take.
This is a formal request that @/sitting-1n-silence (AKA cunning-conjurer) not tagged directly because of their expressed complaints about someone having tagged them) stop contacting, tagging, mentioning, or otherwise directing communications toward the #pathandpractice tag/community, its members, and its associated platforms.
This request is based on documented incidents of repeated harassment, false accusations, and unwanted contact that have been recorded and kept for our records. We have strived to maintain a safe and open community that does not ban members from using the tag (to the extent that even banned members of the server are still welcome to use the tag). However, due to this ongoing harassment and false accusations, we feel it is necessary to make this request. This does not mean that we are discouraging members from communicating with this person; only that we wish for the unwanted contact with and mention of the admin and the tag/community itself to stop. This includes direct messages, public posts, comments, mentions, tags, and any other form of communication intended to reach or involve the group as a whole or the admin of the group specifically.
We have decided to make this request publicly to clearly establish and communicate this boundary, and to explain the change/exception to our ongoing policy of not banning members from the tag. We ask that it be respected moving forward.
Weekly Discussion Question: What or who are your most important allies, guides, guardians or companions in your practice? This can be plants, animals, familiars, spirit guides, anything at all that you work in partnership with.

Last month, we mentioned that we would be bringing a personal tradition of making monthly donations to reforestation initiatives to the @pathandpractice and @hagstoneandtoadsbone community servers. These is something that @hillbillybubbeleh and I started in 2018 as co-founders of a now closed online boutique, which we have continued in previous servers that we shared before joining tumblr. We are really excited to continue it. This month, we had a little extra to give and a little extra reason to give back, so we upped our donation to 25 trees for this month between the two communities. This amounts to a cumulative impact of 35 trees donated between June and July.
The Path & Practice tag now has tumblr community page. We have created this community to create options for everyone who wants to participate to do so in their preferred ways, on their preferred platforms. The guidelines for the community are the same as the ones we created for the tag and the server, and the space is created in the same spirit of intentional, community-led connection and discussion.
Late follow up but I believe the names were Anna and Rue in regards to grace for one person vs another.
I wasn't going to answer this because I wasn't comfortable addressing an ask about someone I don't know/have no contact with. In particular because, the reason I did not know what this ask was about is what you're implying in your asks just didn't happen. But since both of these users have addressed situations related to witchblr themselves, I will answer this for transparency. Please note that I am addressing this "situation" (in quotation marks because there has been no contact between the person you're asking about and the admin of the community) from the background of having a lot of contact with one of these people and none with the other. I am also not going to stalk through someone's blog for information to answer an ask because that's not fair no matter what the situation is. Therefore, I am answering this ask as it pertains to this person using only information from multiple edits of two posts that either mention one or more of us (and were therefor brought to our attention) or were edited after publication to appear in our url tags (creating the implication that the post was addressed to us). That said, neither post is in response to something any of us said or anything we did as we (admin) have not been in any contact with this person. We do not know why we were tagged and I'm not going to make assumptions about why.
Rue is @yorubaby. She is my wife. I ( @slewfootwitch ) started this tag and community which she was one of the first members of, and which she actually encouraged me to start in spite of my own anxiety. And part of the reason I started this community was because of knowing so many people who had previous negative witchblr experiences that made it such that they did not feel safe or wanted in the broader witchcraft community. Sometimes, this was because of harassment/bullying or toxicity in the broader tags; and sometimes this was because people who had created their own negative experiences wanted to start fresh. I have talked with many people on both ends of the spectrum in this community who have found it to be a positive community experience. But it's certainly not for everyone (and that's okay).
Rue had a witchblr blog in ~2013 which she left for her mental health. When Rue joined witchblr again in 2025, her intention was to make a completely fresh start. Although she was forthcoming about her past with the friends she made through tumblr, her desire was initially to keep her old url private. This was a desire she expressed to all of the people she shared her old url with, but she never hid her background from anyone she connected with on a 1:1 level. What she wanted to distance herself from by doing that was not a laundry list of "horrible things" she had done (the single provided example so far being "sending anon hate" though the person she has been accused of sending anon hate to has said they don't believe this happened). She was concerned about how embarrassing the things she had done in the past were (both due to inexperience and due to being a new practitioner who was experiencing untreated mental health issues at the same time) and how the community would treat her since she had been targeted and mistreated in the past by trolls. Unfortunately, someone (Anna, in fact) did publish her old url and put it in her tags in retaliation for blocking them (which Rue did because, at the time, she was dealing with her mother's recent and very aggressive cancer diagnosis and was attempting to create a more positive environment to do so). As a result of this retaliation, she was forced to address it publicly and has been very open about doing so. She has, at every opportunity that has been extended to her, moved forward with positive action and done her best to make choices that were more mindful and more grounded than her previous choices might have been.
In relation to the other person, I do not have any contact or communication with this person (who uses it/its pronouns, which I will use for the rest of this reply) and neither does my wife. (The other admin, @hillbillybubbeleh does not know this person at all.) So I do not feel comfortable making any kind of observations related to their background or behavior. I can objectively tell you that one of its friends accused the community/tag of holding grudges and attacked the community for allowing Syri/Rue to be a part of it but not being consistent in who it holds grudges against. (Note: I have very limited information on this situation and I have tried to gather more about it, but none of myself nor @yorubaby or @hillbillybubbeleh really knows a lot about what happened here or what prompted it [despite public attempts to ask this person what they were talking about, which were ignored]. We only know that it happened because it was put in the community tag and it named Rue's old blog [Syri] in what appears to be another attempt to "expose" her for something she has already addressed publicly multiple times.) What I do know about this in relation to the person you're asking about is that Anna itself has said that this friend's actions had nothing to do with it, that it has never been in the pathandpractice tag or community, and that it has no recent or active witchblr blogs (facts that I know only because Anna tagged us in a post saying so [among many other things which I do not have the context or personal background with it to understand]).
All that said, if Anna has never used the pathandpractice tag, has never been in the pathandpractice server, does not use witchblr tags, and had nothing to do with the person accusing us of having grudges, I do not know what your ask (or, if it's not yours, what the original ask about this topic) was referring to. To my knowledge, this person has not used the tags, has not applied to join the server, and has never been a part of the community. If I am mistaken, I apologize; I have only their own words to go on and since I don't know them outside of old urls, I don't have the context to know any different. As we have said multiple times on this blog and our personal blogs, anyone is welcome to use the tag. Except for this one instance of ongoing harassment, bullying and misuse, we have never asked anyone (including any member removed from the server) to stop using the tag. If this person has been in the tag/community and someone has asked them to leave, I am unaware of it (especially as they themselves deny any proximity or connection to witchblr, the community, and the person saying we were holding grudges).
I hope I was able to address your concern, anon. If you have credible documentation of this person being in the tag/community and being asked to leave or being intentionally excluded in some way, feel free to follow back up with me. I would actually appreciate seeing it, since this matter has been very confusing to all of the admin and any of the members who have been impacted. However, as it stands, I have no reason to act under the assumption that this user was excluded from a tag/community they have expressed that they have not been in. In fact, aside from a couple of people who messaged admin when the community were initially accused of holding grudges (messages which were about *an entirely different account, which Anna has said does not belong to it and which seems to have had all of the admin preblocked upon their interaction with the tag), I have no reason to assume that anyone outside of myself and @yorubaby even knows who this user is, let alone have done anything to exclude them.
So, I have to assume that it has not been in the community to be excluded in the first place. You can correct me if I'm wrong. I am very confused about this ask and where it is coming from or why you would believe someone who denies having ever been in the tag was shunned from it. I'm not going to lie to you, this does not seem like something someone "completely" outside of this would ask (or even have the background information to ask without being involved, especially as we still don't know what any of this has to do with the tag or us) and I don't understand where it could be crossing your dash for weeks since we never had enough information about what happened to address it. We still do not know why their friend accused us of holding grudges, why we were tagged in its post, etc. We simply don't know and no amount of implication that this person was somehow excluded or not given enough grace is going to make sense when the person itself is saying it never used the tag, had nothing to do with the accusations, and is not in witchblr. Nor is it going to change the fact that no one interacted with it.
Please understand that, as this is the full extent of our knowledge of this situation and this person in relation to our community, unless you have credible information that points to their having been in and excluded from the community/tag, I will not be answering any more asks about this. I do not believe these asks are being sent in good faith, from someone uninvolved in this situation; and I believe they are a further attempt to harass and bully my wife with vague and unsubstantiated accusations of "horrible things" and "anon hate", which I will not tolerate. Rue's involvement in the tag and community has been on her own merit and through her our connections with others built over time. If you have some credible complaint about her (in particular about something she has done recently or in relation to the community/tag), I am happy to address that. Otherwise, you are (at best) repeating 13-year-old gossip to harass someone (which you will notice no one else has done to anyone here).
TLDR: Anna has said Anna has not been in the tag/community, that they do not engage with witchblr, and that the person talking about us holding grudges had nothing to do with it and was related to their own upset about Rue/Syri being allowed to become what they perceived as popular in the community.
*Edit to Add: I will not name the other account in question. But we were informed a few days prior to the grudge accusations that a blog who someone had reason to believe was the person you're asking about had started using the tag. When we tried to check the blog out, we found we were all already preblocked (which is fine, blocking is highly encouraged if you don't want someone in your space). Our response was to keep the url private and to continue on as normal, letting our fourth moderator know that their was a user who had use all blocked and (without giving her their url) saying that we didn't think anything would come of it but, if there seemed to be any toxicity or anything in the tags that we should address, to let us know because there was a chance we couldn't actually see it. That was the entire extent of our knowledge of this blog, though (again) Anna has said it was not its blog. However, without knowing if this person was Anna or not and only having this provided information to go on, we as admin made the conscious decision to protect this person's experience in the tag by not giving out their url even to our fourth moderator so that they could make a fresh start like everyone else in the tag is entitled to.
I am looking for advice. I am going through an ongoing medical emergency with my heart that could be fatal, and my doctor suggested that I fill out my healthcare directive forms. The first form includes a section on what spiritual or religious practices I want performed as I near the end of my life. This section asks what religious organization I am a member of, the location, and then a space for the contact information of the spiritual leader/clergy I would want to attend to me, as I die.
As someone with a household practice, I have no idea what/who to put down! I am reticent to list my spouse or child, because I donβt want to add more stress to them, since theyβll have to deal with so much, once I do pass. My mother is in hospice care herself, so she cannot attend to me either. I worry if I leave it blank my Christian dad will strong arm his beliefs onto me at the end. Any suggestions would be super helpful!
First of all, I am very sorry you're facing this. That sounds extremely difficult. in the case of an emergency like this, I would inquire if the hospital has an interfaith or unaffiliated chaplain. Some hospitals do. Some just have chaplains for specific religions, but even in that case, they may have connections with community members who may be more what you're looking for.
I do think this is worth discussing with your spouse and child if you are able. There is always the possibility that what you think of as stress for them may not be and may be something they would feel strongly about wanting to do for you.
My thoughts are with you, anon. And I am sorry I am unable to offer more in the way of advice.
As someone completely outside of this but having seen it cross my dash for weeks- I do want to understand why one person was given grace for being a questionable person years ago, and another was not. From simply looking at blogs it seems like that answer is friendship. Could you or your friend clarify why some people are forgiven and others arent? I personally didn't even like the person that many of you mentioned as "calling out" but It seemed rather ironic given your one friend has also done horrible things. Similarly the person recently mentioned, I do not like, but their comment was valid.
Community is meant for everyone. And a criticism of inequality due to personal grievances makes sense given its a community space unless im mistaken and its a personal club? Genuinely seeking clarification and transparency.
Hi. So, I'm not sure which person you think we haven't extended grace to. My friend (my wife, I assume is who you're referring to) is guilty of being silly and mentally ill in witchblr 13 years ago. And she has both shown accountability and addressed her past. I'm not sure what horrible things you're referring too. Mostly she did embarrassing things, as we all have in the past.
If you're referring to the person we removed from the server, lots of grace was extended and they were welcomed to continue using the tags multiple times (which they did with no issue). You can see my full contact with them in posts linked here:
π¬ 1Β Β π 3Β Β β€οΈ 28Β Β·Β While I am on the topic of the messages in my inbox, let me answer a question I have gotten repeatedly: The sole reason I
If you're referring to the person I mentioned in my other post, we have not contacted or bothered him at all. The only time we have responded to him since this issue is to his continued harassment.
Now that my car is parked, I do want to reblog this to say that what you are referring to as one person receiving grace and one not is actually response to repetition of behavior over time. It has to do with how someone moves forward, whether the issues are founded or whether they are gossip and whether there is accountability in their response and future actions. I hope this clarifies.
Edit to Add: I have responded under the assumption that you're talking about this ongoing situation. But, re-reading this ask, it seems like you're talking about someone who has "questionable behavior from years ago" as well and something that has been happening more recently that our last issues with this person. And, if that is the case, I sincerely have no idea what you're talking about. Because this has been the only person that has really been asked to leave our community alone. We have made clear multiple times that anyone can use the tag. This situation has been an exception only because it is a case of recurring harassment and lies. If you would like to clarify and provide some details on what you're talking about, you are welcome to message again and I can try to provide the clarity you're looking for. (added @ 10:40pm)

Hey friends, I have decided to pick back up a project that I had started on a previous witchcraft server and make a monthly donation to a reforestation initiative that plants trees. I will be starting these donations off at five trees per server that I "own". However, since @pathandpractice and @hagstoneandtoadsbone have so much user overlap, I will be tracking those donations cumulatively. This was our first month making these donations; between the two servers, we planted 10 trees.
Small Server Announcement: We have added a channel for discussion of unrecorded/undocumented/nameless deities as well as an opt-in channel for godspousing and spirit marriage. To get access to the latter, click the associated button in the member roles channel.
I wish I could join the server and/or start interacting with other witches. But the constant drama in tumblr-discord witchcraft circles makes me wary. It seems like so many are out for blood. I'm not good enough at communicating, making friends or doing magic to feel safe.
If you're anxious about joining the server and interacting with it, you're more than welcome the join and lurk until you feel comfortable. There is no requirement to interact. You can "try before you buy" so to speak.
Unfortunately, the interactions on tumblr that have been related to previous"drama" are much larger in scale than the in-server interactions they are related to. I can assure you, the issue we addressed last night with the use of certain words is the only interaction of that type that has ever taken place in the server. Mostly users share recipes, trade tips, and even swap trees/seeds.
We don't have a function that announces when people enter and leave except to the admin, so you are welcome to join and lurk until you're comfortable.

A Note About Language Use In Our Server: Recently, a member of the pathandpractice server shared a self-written decolonization resource that included the use of the words "ethnic", "exotic" and "racial" when referring to POC and non-white people, groups of people, and cultures. This post was shared with the explanation that the writer was sharing it for discussion. As a result, a concern was raised about the use of these words (by another member who is visibly mixed race and immediately identified themselves as a POC) and a discussion began which included input from POC as well as input from a member with a professional background providing DEI training and resources for teachers and school staff.
Although this user left the server, we do want to make it clear that the use of these words to describe POC and non-white people, groups of people, and cultures outside of specific quotations from scholarly sources is not something we will tolerate in the server, either in messages posted there or in resources that are shared there. Additionally, we want to be clear that we approach academic racism and academic discrimination (including the implication that POC users "do not understand" the material presented or are "misguided" in their criticism of word use and approach, even in DEI context) as racism and discrimination. We understand that it is not always possible for non-POC to understand the impacts of certain language use on POC people and groups of people, and we do not hold not knowing against anyone. However, we do treat the repeated assertion that POC who take issue with things such as language use, presence of stereotypes, etc. are themselves "misguided" or misinformed, or the idea that "racism exists, therefore one has no choice but to use those words" and POC must just accept it as an instance of academic discrimination and stereotyping.
Please be aware going forward that, while we encourage discussion and do not hold not knowing against anyone, responding to such concerns with further racial bias and insults to intelligence will not be an issue for discussion and will result in an immediate ban. We apologize to any POC or other members who may have been upset by this interaction. We have received many messages about this, which we are in the process of addressing. We have left the interaction in the channel in question for both transparency and for educational purposed, but have added a trigger warning to the channel. Thank you to everyone who was part of addressing this exchange and situation as well everyone who provided additional feedback on whether to remove the messages or simply trigger warn them.
For transparency, here is the warning that we have added to the affected channel. Please use caution when viewing the channel if you are triggered by the use of academic racism or academic bias against POC.
