Sunghoon was going to have brunch with Sunoo and Minju, Sunoo’s step sister, because they were in Paris for vacation. Sunoo couldn’t make it because he had a last minute meeting call.

The person who was smiling before bed was obviously Sunghoon if it wasn’t already clear enough.

I think this chapter was boring but I promise it will get interesting as the series progresses

Paris, the city of love.

As people say. You couldn’t say the same.

To you Paris was the city of business. Every couple months your parents would go to parents for an important business trip. It was often enough for them to buy a penthouse there.

Although Paris was mostly a place of business to you, the city also held a special place in your heart. The chaotic, beautiful streets were comforting. And the fragrant smell of baked goods from the bakery near your home in Paris always would bring a smile on your face and automatically lead your body towards the shop every Monday morning.

You smile as you walk out of the bakery in your black sweatpants, dark brown crop top, and comfy white platform slides. The delightful scent flowing from the brown paper bag that was delicately placed in your cream colored tote bag filled your nose as you walked down the street getting back to your penthouse.

As you walked down the street bag of bread in hand and AirPods in with music filling your ears, you took in the scenery. You were enjoying your stroll until you bumped face first into someone’s chest.

You groaned as you pulled away from the stranger who held you up from falling face first into the concrete. You apologized as you rubbed your forehead to soothe the slight pain you felt from colliding with the man’s hard chest.

“I’m sorry.” You said for the 5th time. “It’s okay. You don’t have to keep apologizing” The man chuckled as he helps you become steady with his hand wrapped around your arms.

You looked up at him when you finally became stable. You couldn’t believe who was in front of your eyes. It was Park Sunghoon. He was your childhood best friend, but you guys started to grow apart during the the 2nd year of high school. He started hanging out with a new group of friends which left you alone. Yes, you did have other friends, but all of them were older than you and you could barely see them. It was hard for you to make friends because you were Kim Y/N and was quote on quote “untouchable”.

You finally met Hwang Yeji, a girl who comes from a wealthy family who are business partners with your parents, your third year of high school. She moved from Paris over here. You guys quickly became friends as you could fluently speak French and you were happy.

“Y/n?” The man in front of you called out your name. You answered by saying his name back to him. “I didn’t expect to meet you in Paris, but then again from what I remember you always did go every once in awhile” Sunghoon continued as he remembered how you would go to Paris frequently when you were younger and disappear for a couple days in high school to go to Paris. You two would go to Paris together occasionally.

You sighed and answered, “ Yep. My parents are here for another business trip.” Sunghoon raised his eyebrows as he answered, “Mine are too. I guess it’s just a coincidence.”

You were about to answer when you were interrupted by Sunghoon’s phone ringing. Sunghoon muttered out a small sorry as he picked up his phone. After talking on the phone for a while Sunghoon turned back to you. “I’m sorry but I have to leave. My friend is expecting me for brunch. She doesn’t like to wait.” He responded sounding a bit disappointed.

You felt a strange feeling surge through your body as Sunghoon mentioned another female. “Yeah you should go. I should head back right now as well.” You responded ignoring the feeling you just got.

You guys said your goodbyes and went your separate ways.

[Sunghoon POV]

“She was just as beautiful as I remembered.” Sunghoon thought as he walked down the street enjoying the environment around him. He always enjoyed taking in his surroundings and after many attempts of begging his parents to let him walk to his next appointment instead of being driven his wish was finally granted.

Sunghoon rolled his eyes as Minju called him for the 10th time today interrupting his thoughts. “She is so impatient” Sunghoon thought. He declined her call as he approached the cafe they agreed to meet in.

“Sunghoon!” Minju called out with a smile on her face as she saw Sunghoon enter the cafe. “Hey. Where is Sunoo?” Sunghoon asked not seeing his friend anywhere in the cafe.

Minju sighed and placed her face into her hands as she batted her eyes towards Sunghoon. “Sunoo couldn’t make it. He suddenly had an important meeting to attend.” She answered.

Sunghoon didn’t want to be here anymore since he knew his friend wasn’t coming. He would rather do anything else than have a 1 on 1 with his friends younger step sister.

As if she could sense Sunghoon’s hesitation Minju suddenly said, “Sit! We can still eat and chat for a little right?” Sunghoon sighed. He didn’t want to be rude so he decided he would stay for a little.

Sunghoon took a seat in front of Minju. The waitress approached the table where to two were seated and took their order. “I’ll have a vanilla latte and a chocolate soufflé.” Minju ordered in her broken English. The waitress looked over at Sunghoon. Sunghoon smiled at the waiter and said, “I’ll just have an Americano.” The waitress nodded and left.

“You should have gotten more.” Minju said. Sunghoon looked up from his phone and answered, “I’m not hungry.” Minju pouted and tried to continue the conversation. As Minju was talking to herself all Sunghoon could think about was the interaction between you two earlier during the day.

His thoughts were interrupted by a call from his personal assistant. “Perfect timing” Sunghoon thought. Sunghoon looked up from his phone and said, “I’m sorry Minju. I’ve gotta leave. Something important is coming up.”

Minju frowned but let him go. Sunghoon mentally celebrated, but he kept a straight face and left with a small goodbye. As soon as he stepped out of the cafe he called his personal assistant back.

[On the Phone]

Sunghoon: Hey I’m sorry for not picking up. I had to excuse myself from the table.

Dohyun: It’s fine. Just come back to the suite quickly. You have a fitting and then a zoom meeting. You also have to prepare for your important dinner with your parents this evening. I’m going to send a driver to you.

Sunghoon: Alright. Thanks Dohyun.

As you walked into you penthouse you took off your shoes, placed your bag of bread down on the island in your house, got a small plate out, and placed a piece of cream bread into the plate.

Your phone pinged notifying you that your personal assistant had messaged you. You took a bite of your bread as you picked up your phone to see what she had to say.

“I’m gonna be at your house in an hour to meet the person who is going to help with your fitting at 10. The fitting will take a couple hours so you probably will be done by 3. Then you’ll have some time to kill and sometime around 6 you should start getting ready for the dinner you have this evening with your mother and father at 7.” Mina, your assistant, messaged you.

You sighed as you took another bite out of your bread and messaged back, “Okay. Thanks for the briefing. See you later.”

After you finished your schedule you got dressed and finally got into the car to go to the restaurant you were meeting your parents and some other people that your they wouldn’t tell you about tonight.

Arriving at the restaurant, your driver opened your door and offered his hand to you allowing you to step out of the vehicle. You muttered a quick thank you and headed into the restaurant.

Four people were standing in front of the door to the private dining room where you were having your dinner. The four people included Mina, your personal assistant, and Mr. Baek, your mother and father’s assistant. You gave a slight bow and entered the room.

“Y/n!” your father’s voice echoed through the room. You looked around the room and spotted two people sitting in front of your parents. They were Mr. and Mrs. Park, Sunghoon’s parents. “Hello. Mom and dad.” You greeted your parents. Then you turned to Sunghoon’s parents and greeted them with a genuine smile, “Hello Mr. and Mrs. Park. It’s been a while.”

Sunghoon’s mother stood up and kissed you cheeks and gave you a warm hug. “Y/n! Darling I have missed you. You have grown and are still so beautiful!” Mrs. Park said. You smiled and responded, “Thank you! It’s so nice to see you again! You are still as beautiful as well Mrs. Park.” It wasn’t a lie. Sunghoon comes from a family of visuals. You wouldn’t say your family is any less attractive than his family, but his family is very good looking.

You guys both took a seat. Your mother and Sunghoon’s mother started a conversation. As you fixed your hair Mr. Park said, “I’m sorry about my son. He’ll is almost here. He was held back by an important meeting.” Your father smiled and responded, “It’s alright. I understand.”

You started to wonder what this dinner was for. But your thoughts were quickly interrupted by the sound of the door sliding open.

“I apologize for being late.” Sunghoon said and he greeted your parents along with his. He took a seat in front of you and smiled at you. You smiled back and that’s when the food arrived.

You were in the middle of your meal cutting your steak, but Sunghoon’s father suddenly spoke. “Well now that we’ve filled our stomachs let’s talk about why we are having this dinner.” Mr. Park smiled as he spoke.

“Ah yes. That would be nice.” Your mother added. You and Sunghoon both turned to your parents and waited for them to speak again.

You dad wiped his mouth as he sighed and continued, “We were thinking about the future of our business and we decided that the best thing to do for our business is to have an arranged marriage.” Your head went blank as you were trying to process what just came out of your fathers mouth.

“What do you think about this, honey?” Mrs. Park asked her son. Sunghoon had a look on his face that made it hard to guess how he felt about this. Sunghoon quickly snapped out of his daze and answered, “I think if it is good for our businesses then I think it’s a good idea. I’ll do it if Y/n feels comfortable with this idea.”

You didn’t know what to say. Park Sunghoon actually agreeing to this? You couldn’t fight with your parents in front of the people sitting in front of you so you answered, “I’m okay with it.”

Both of your parents were happy and celebrated. Even Sunghoon had a smile on his face. So you did what any other insane person would do and enjoyed the rest of dinner.

Oh how you had regretted agreeing to the deal so fast.

I mean you haven’t seriously spoken to Sunghoon in 2 years and now you’re getting married to him? You couldn’t understand how Sunghoon agreed to it so quickly and still had a smile on his face.

You laid in your bed as you contemplated life and what you agreed to earlier in the day. Fortunately, Soobin, your best friend, messaged you getting you out of your overthinking mindset.

Soobin: Heyy Wyd? I miss you

Y/n: I’m laying in bed rn just thinking

Soobin: Stop overthinking things. You’re going to be sad and panicked and I’m not with you rn to help.

Soobin: okay wtv you say. Also go to bed it’s 1 am over there

Y/n: okay okay. But what are you doing rn? It’s 8 am in Seoul.

Soobin: I’m getting ready for a photo shoot for my dad’s new product

You sighed as you turned off your phone and put it on the table beside your bed. “I should go to sleep” You decided to think about it tomorrow instead of now.

Little did you know that there was another person who was going to bed with a smile on their face.

Y/n also has an older sister. Her best friend is Choi Soobin, the son of the chairwoman of a famous fashion company and the chairman of Korea’s best car company. She also has another friend, Hwang Yeji who is the daughter of the ceo famous beauty brand. Yeji moved to Korea in the second year of high school and quickly became friends with Y/n because she could freely speak French to her. Y/n was friends with Sunghoon since she was 2 and stayed friends with him until Y/n was in her second year of high school. Y/n would never admit it but she has always had feelings for Sunghoon and aren’t over her feelings yet. 』

『　Sunghoon is 20 years old. He is two years older than y/n. He is the son of the chairman/ceo of a famous real estate company in Korea and the chairwoman/ceo of a acting management company. Sunghoon has a younger sister. Sunghoon’s best friend are Kim Sunoo, Sim Jaeyun (Jake), Park Jongseong (Jay), and Lee Heeseung. Sunghoon has had a crush on Y/n since he was 9 and she was 7 and still has feelings for her. He had his own reasons to why they drifted apart. 』

-The day of the gala-

Finally, it was the day of the gala. Saying that you were nervous was an understatement. The day had been busy since the morning with the hair, makeup, meetings, and moving around between buildings and venues. Everything was nerve-racking, but the thing that you were most worried about was what would happen when Sunghoon saw you and Soobin together. You knew how jealous Sunghoon could get. 

While Soobin was changing you went on your phone to check your socials and you saw that Sunghoon had posted. 

You smiled at how good he looked in the photo. Then you heard Soobin call out to you, “Y/n! Hey! Earth to y/n? You’re not even listening, are you? Look up from your phone and relish how handsome your date is! Yah! Kim Y/n.” You looked up only to be met with Soobin’s beautiful eyes and cute pout. You giggled and then said, “You look great Soobin.” He gave you a look. “I’m serious! You look great as always. When have you ever looked bad?” You defended yourself. “Alright stop kissing my ass and go change,” Soobin said with an eye roll. 

You went to change into your dress and shoes. You came out from behind the curtains and Soobin instantly smiled. “You look great! Good enough to be my date anyway.” Soobin said mischievously. You rolled your eyes and then motioned him to come to stand next to you so that the stylist could make last-minute touches to both of your outfits. Soobin suddenly whispered to you, “Where are we going to have our pre-gala rendezvous this year?” You and Soobin would always secretly go somewhere to get food before the gala. You guys did this because you would barely be able to eat anything being preoccupied with having to talk to and greet all of the other people who attended the gala. You answered after thinking for a while, “Let’s go to the restaurant we used to go to as kids. The one that is owned by the nice old lady. We could take some food for takeout and eat it in the car.” Soobin agreed with you just as your stylists were finishing up.

-At the Gala-

Arriving at the gala you were nervous to see everyone else attending. There were going to be all of the people you used to attend school with when you were younger, CEOs of different companies, and most importantly Sunghoon and whoever his date was. You thought about Sunghoon and how far his jealousy would go this time before getting out of the car. As soon as you and Soobin stepped out of the car you were bombarded with cameras and screaming fans. With bodyguards pushing through the crowds to make room for you guys to get through. When you guys got into the building Soobin looked at you with a worried face. He knew that you were always a little uneasy after being crowded like that. “Are you okay y/nie?” Soobin worriedly asked. ‘Yea I’m fine lets just continue.” Soobin grabbed your hand and you guys continued to walk.

You turned toward the door as you heard the crown get riled up again. You felt Soobin tug at your arm. “Hey lets go” He said in a soft voice. You listened to him and continued going to your seats. 

After settling in your seats you saw a bunch of bodyguards surrounding two people. You supposed that it was one of the other couples. Trying to look over the bodyguards to see who it was you suddenly got pulled away by Soobin. You started to talk to the CEO of Kang and Co. 

(Sunghoon POV)

I walked in with Wonyoung, her arms crossed with mine. Finally, getting passed the crowd we walked to our table. “It’s nice isn’t it?” Wonyound started awkwardly. “Yea. It is.” I dryly answered. Taking a seat I looked around. My eyes spotted something. Y/N. My y/n. She’s talking to an older man, but there’s another guy next to her. I assume her date. When the man walked away the guy next to her pulled her closer and whispered something into her ear. She flashed her beautiful smile and I suddenly felt a slight anger flow through my body. “Sunghoon? Are you okay?” The girl next to me asked. “Yeah. Everything is fine Wonyoung.” I answered with a slight smile. I looked up and met y/n’s eyes. She smiled at me and I felt myself calm down a little. I sent her a message and she looked up at me. I saw her hands moving about to respond, but before she could finish her date pulled her aside to talk to another person.

(Y/N POV)

I saw Sunghoon’s date. I didn’t know who it was and I was curious, so I asked my stylist, who was accompanying Soobin and I for the night, who it was. She looked on the list and said that it was Jang Wonyoung, a middle-level ice skater who recently quit to become a freelance model, the daughter of a smaller company named Yooin. 

She was beautiful. That worried you. She seemed nice, but you were worried Sunghoon would like her better. I mean they shared a past passion, she was good looking, seemed sweet, and their circumstances of being together were definitely better than yours now. You sighed as the nasty feeling of jealousy built up in you.

Soobin looked at you feeling uneasy about your behavior. “Hey y/n. Are you okay?” Your best friend asked softly patting your back. You looked up into Soobin’s shining eyes. They had nothing but worry in them. Soobin grabbed your hand and asked you, “Did the crowds make you that uneasy? Do you want to go to the hang-out to calm down for a bit?” You looked to the door of the inviting area across the giant room. The choice of leaving the hectic area for a little lingered in your mind for a bit, but both you and Soobin knew the moment you were out of sight from everyone people would start looking for you. 

Deep in thought, you got interrupted by the chairman of Lotte. Next to him was Shin Jaeyun or Jake, the chairman’s son who was around Soobin and Sunghoon’s age, and he had a charming smile on his face. You knew him. In fact, you knew him very well. In school from 1st to 12th grade, you were the two top in academics. He graduated as valedictorian of his year and you graduated as valedictorian of yours. You were both very good friends and would have the occasional hang out before Jake left to pursue a role in his father’s company. Now you would only call and text once in a while but it was better than nothing for you.

Jake smiled at you and greeted Soobin. “Hey y/n,” Jake said hugging you as his father walked away to talk to your mother. “You guys look great as usual.” He continued as he leaned on your chair. You didn’t see his date so you asked, “Where is Yeri? Is she not your date this year?” Jake rolled his eyes at the thought of his date, “She’s probably flirting around like always.” You laughed at his reaction and you guys continue talking until the speech segment started.

Y/n’s mom and Sunghoon’s dad got onto the stage and they each held a glass of champagne. 

“We are glad to announce that our two companies will be merging!” The beautiful woman on the stage announced. Suddenly, a roar of applaud burst from all around the room. The couple on stage smiled as they hugged each other and they continued their speech.

(y/n’s pov)

When your mother gave her announcement the first sentence made you wither up inside. You couldn’t focus on anything your mother was saying anymore. Soobin roll his eyes at his mother who was giving the two people a standing applaud. He grabbed your hand trying to provide as much comfort as he could and to be honest, it did sort of soothe you. Apparently, not enough.

Your mind was being crowded with thoughts of you and Sunghoon’s relationship as your mother's marriage fully sunk in. You found yourself breathing hard and trying to make yourself calm down. This always happened. When you overthought too much in you would have a panic attack. You felt it coming. To try and push down the feeling you squeezed Soobin’s hand with an alarming amount of pressure. 

Feeling your squeeze Soobin worriedly looked at you. He saw now you were breathing heavily and knew what was coming. He took your hand and dragged you out of the room. You staggered behind him as you tried to keep up with his pace. Conveniently the speech ended as you got up. Your mother looked at you rushing out in shock.

(Sunghoon Pov)

Sunghoon sighed and pinched his nose bridge as y/n’s mom made the announcement. He hoped it would have been a phase and that they would split, but they’be announced it. It’s official. 

Sunghoon looked over to y/n to see if she was okay. She was breathing so heavily. He wanted to get up right there and check up on her. Sudddenly her date took her hand into his and draged her out. She limped behind him. Sunghoon felt envy rush through his body. He could barely contain it. The male felt his face heat up and was almost sure his ears had turned into a rosy color of pink.

“Y/n. Y/n. Breath. It’s going to be okay. You just need to breath honey.” Soobin said softly trying to calm y/n down. He’s delt with this before. Soobin always knew exactly what to do. “Okay lets count to 10.” Soobin said with his smooth tone. You guys counted while breathing. Soobin said things like “You’re doing so well”, “Keep breathing”, “Tell me what you need” to keep you stable and you slowly became calm. 

Coming back to reality you felt Soobin’s hand patting your back. “I’m sorry y/n, but we have to get back in right now. The gala should be ending soon. You did so well. Let’s go send some people home.” You sighed and walked back into the building arm connected with Soobin’s. 

What you didn’t see while the hectic event was happening was an worried, nervous, and extremely jealous Sunghoon watching from afar.

You didn’t know what was in store for you later that night.

After saying bye to what felt like a million people you and Soobin were finally done with the even. There was only one couple you guys hadn’t talked to all night. A couple you had been dreading to talk to all night. Sunghoon and Wonyoung.

You heard steps come from behind you and you turned around to see a pretty Wonyoung and an incredibly attractive Sunghoon. They both looked so good with each other and you started to feel jealous. 

“You were incredible tonight y/n! I love your outfit and you’re so beautiful.” Wonyoung said cheerfully. She was so nice. But you still had an extreme feeling of dislike for her. You told yourself to suck it up and be nice.

“She was wasn’t she?” Soobin said, smiling. Sunghoon’s head suddenly popped up at Soobin’s comment. His jaw clenched and he swore he wanted to punch Soobin right then and there. He balled his fists to try and contain his anger. 

As the conversation continued, Sunghoon could only look at you. You looked breathtaking and he just wanted to rip your dress off of you and tell you who you belonged to. The conversation was mostly between the three of you guys while Sunghoon had his occasional word. 

It was only till Soobin stroked your head that Sunghoon was calm. Being so enraged by the gesture Sunghoon told Wonyoung that her driver was waiting for her outside and that she should get home by herself. He than abruptly grabbed your wrist and dragged you out of there to where your driver was.

His grip was strong and your wrist started to turn red. You tried to pull your hand out of the angered man’s grip, but that only seemed to anger him even more. Reaching the stairs you finally were able to pull away from him. 

You looked up at the taller man and asked in a loud voice, “What’s your problem?” Sunghoon looked into your eyes and you saw anger and lust. You weren’t going to lie it frightened you how intense his gaze was. You expected him to speak in a loud tone, but all he did was lean down right next to your ear.
