Dave came into the animal shelter with mange. He was going to be put to sleep but I decided to foster him. I had read about mange and was convinced that I could help him feel more comfortable. Certainly didn't expect to cure him completely of it. It's a strange feeling having seen many dogs come in with mange and being told it was incurable and that they had to be euthanised. I remember many sweet, beautiful natured dogs that had mange. All these dogs needed was a chance. A bit of love. Only one or two dogs were as severe as Dave was. Most of the others only had partial hairlessness. I will do my best to fight for these dogs within the shelter in the future. Dave's treatment consisted of soothing baths, flea treatments that kill the mites as well as a bit of medication from the vet.
