  “ Aw, too bad. Here I thought we’d –     countering sarcasm with sarcasm isn’t     going to win me any favors, is it?”  Caiden huffed. He just had to go and piss off the spectre, didn’t he? He just had to go and get her on his back. Of all the things he could have pissed off in all of the galaxies Shepard had to be the first to step up. Damn his luck.         “ I’m the one who took it. I’m the one who hid it.          So no, Shepard, I do not know where it is. “  It was now time for his own  eye roll.           “ You’re going to have to trust me.” 

      ‘ well, you certainly don’t have any to lose             ----if you feel like trying your LUCK. ’ 

her eyes are hard on his, and all amusement is gone -- replaced with obvious impatience. a thief tossing words like trust at her as if it’s some casual thing to just hand over the keys the vault which keeps her safe. 

with a shake of her head she crosses her arms over her chest and stares at him for a long moment. 

      ‘ i doubt that’s going to happen, buddy,                how ‘bout we just make a little deal.  ’ 

she tosses back her newly refilled drink in one gulp and stands, ready to leave -- with him in tow, by force or otherwise.

a lot of things have changed since the last time shepard walked through the citadel. until recently, the people she’d known and cared about here had believed her to be DEAD. now things had taken a turn for the worse, the council abandoned all search for the reapers – seemed to have swept the entire idea under the rug – and shepard, well, she’d woken up owing a debt to CERBERUS. 

the tables really had turned, and if kaidan’s reaction to her presence on horizon – not to the fact that she was alive, but to the idea that she’d somehow betrayed him ( as if she would ever.. ) was any indication, things would get worse before they got better. 

somehow, after speaking with anderson, she’s found herself seeking out sha’ira. the asari had once given her insight into her future, a gift shepard hadn’t taken lightly, and now she wanders almost subcon-sciously to where the woman’s office stands, hoping for something – some kind of reassurance – that she’s doing the right thing. 

but the woman she comes face to face with is not sha’ira, is not asari, and is not anyone she’s ever seen before. for a moment, she’s at a loss for words. after another, she has to make sure she’s in the right place. and finally, as she opens her mouth to speak, still not entirely sure what she expects to accomplish. 

      ‘ SORRY – is this still sha’ira’s office ? ’

with an apologetic half-smile, she runs an idle hand through her hair. 

she just keeps the wry smile on her lips even at the look just darted at her.nah, this was fair game, to tease luna.      after all, what were sisters for, right?

     “i’ll be waiting !! it better be a             damn good story.”

olivia waited on the kitchen’s bar, slugging down her own drink. and when she still heard the water running in the bathroom, poured herself another glass. so what if she’d just been in  the apartment all day? everyone deserves a drink.

she watched as luna drank half of her drink in one gulp – tough night, she imagined. a laugh, followed by a raised brow, came next.

     “ash was behind this? i can’t say that        i’m surprised. still, i’m extremely disappointed that i wasn’t initially        brought along for the ride,”

olivia raised the bottle beside her, tipping more wine into her sister’s glass. luna definitely looked like she needed it.

      “yeah, you are looking pretty old.              have you considered anti aging ?”

another laugh. she wouldn’t be surprised if luna was inclined to hit her. 

she scoffed at her sister's teasing -- not that she'd expected any less. after all, if she'd wanted sympathy or someone doting on her and worrying about her new scratches, she'd have gone to see karin. 

shaking her head as she started on drink number two -- a bit more slowly this time around -- luna let out a heavy sigh.

            ' i think she was trying to set me up --                  as though i have  TIME  for anything                  like that -- and obviously -- ' 

with one hand, she motioned to liv and raised a brow. 

                      ' -- if  YOU  tagged along, no one                    would give me a second look. ' 

another scoff and she brought her hands to her face with a look of mild shock, as though feeling for any new wrinkles in her skin -- and winced when her fingers brushed over a particularly tender gash near her temple.
