A WEAPONS FACTORY IN BUDAPEST BECOMES A HOME Posted by Caroline Williamson on 07.25.16 in Architecture, Interior Design, Main A Weapons Factory in Budapest Becomes a Home FORWARDVIEW THE PHOTO GALLERY A+Z Design Studio, run by architect and production designer Attila F. Kovács and his art director and stylist wife, Zsuzsa Megyesi, became their own clients when they converted a four-story building that was once a weapons factory, into their home. Located in the southern part of Budapest, Hungary, Loft 19, their tower-like home, and the large factory complex date back to around 1913-1915 and have become protected industrial buildings. The space is quite unusual but they’ve made it all their own creating the perfect blend of design from Kovács’ childhood years (1950s-60s) with a contemporary spin.

A cool, low key, not over the top environment. Beautiful furniture choices, muted, easy color palette, hip accessories all combine to create a very welcoming home. I particularly love the windows and polished concrete floors

Grand pianos are works of art and feats of engineering composed of over 12,000 individual parts.... photographer Christopher Payne visited the legendary factory to document its process. as the owner of a classic, black, upright Steinway I can say they truly are special.... please link to this great piece: "The people who work at Steinway come from all over the world, and the factory is a microcosm of the diversity that makes New York City—and America—great," Payne says. "Some workers are new to the factory, having recently immigrated to the U.S., while others have been there for decades. Together, they share a quiet pride and dignity, and are proof that manual labor and craftsmanship still have value in today’s economy."

I like this loft with it's generous sampling of mid century modern classics, this beautiful vintage chandelier, and a bright and light personality. The kitchen is fairly perfect and charming! Bravo!

A true study in contrasts..... This wonderful find in Milan is Architect Marco Vido’s workspace and living space. It is a space that proudly reflects it's industrial, raw, concrete walls, glazed windows, and original ceilings. Their are countless creative touches with large art and well chosen unique lighting. Many rooms assert a minimal decor aesthetic.Yes I do adore the bedroom space and what a beautiful photo! The extreme modernism of the bathroom and the beauty and high functionality of the kitchen indicate their is no compromise in lifestyle to live in this interesting and visually pleasing space.

Welcome to this warm and inviting space in Brooklyn. Decorated with bits and pieces of antiques, modern, vintage and garden furniture, an eclectic combination that works. My sweet spot here is the clean geometric lines/angles of the stairway and the awesome brickwork. Coming in  next, of course I always appreciate a special bathroom and this one has very cool textures, high ceiling, and design elements, and the tub!!!! The bedroom also calls to me, I am kind of tired right now, besides that I think the bed looks so comfortable and I always appreciate restraint in a sleeping space.

This beautiful house is located in the lovely French village of Lalanne-Arque, which is situated within Midi-Pyrénées region in the South of France.

There is something so soothing about the simple palette of this vacation rental. Perhaps the dwelling holds the happy spirits of the horses that were stabled here in this breathtakingly beautiful part of France. I could go on forever about the beauty of the walls, but as you will see all the raw and retained original features are special. The choice to use vintage, mid century and modern elements completes this awesome space.
