The whole plot with experimenting on Geordi was just sad. Especially when Geordi said that Data wouldn't be able to forgive himself for this once his ethical program is on again. And I think he was right. Look at Data trying to destroy emotion chip at the end. Lore literally poisoned one of Data's greatest dreams. Now he sees emotions as something dangerous. He had them once and he nearly killed Geordi. He'd rather never have them again than risk hurting his best friend. But the most astonishing part is Geordi who doesn't let Data destroy the chip. I mean, I guess Geordi probably deals with his own trauma because of that damn chip, but he'd not let Data's dream of having emotions be poisoned like that, be gone. It says so much about the depth of their relationship: Data would give up his dreams for Geordi and Geordi would overcome his own trauma and fear not to let Data do that. Pure selflessness.
