Commission Info | Art Tag | Original Story: Born to the Sea
Magic the Gathering: Planeswalkers (Part 1) v1.00. Â D&D 5e Monster Stats Commissioned by King Kassynder
Here they are, finally! A big series of commissions done over the past few months for King Kassynder! Planeswalkers! Iâve made these stats, and remade them so many times! The final version I did after reading War of the Spark, feeling like I had a better idea of what planeswalkers and the specific characters could do.
Bonus: Living Land
The living land is a bonus statblock to go with Nissa! Please enjoy having these planeswalkers (and extra) for your Ravnica campaigns, other MTG games, or just as misc NPCs for your campaigns.
Hereâs the tokens:

Magic the Gathering: Black Creatures (Phyrexians, Vampires, Bats) v1.00. Â D&D 5e Monster Stats
Hereâs another MTG set of creatures, this time black mana! For black mana the most iconic card to me was the Sengir Vampire, and the Vampire Bats (ye olde cards I remember playing from my Fatherâs collection). But I think Phyrexians are pretty iconic too. The skeletal vampire was just for a second vampire choice, personally I thought the card/concept was pretty cool.
Hereâs the tokens for these monsters:Â

Magic the Gathering: Blue Creatures (Big Fish, Drakes, Sea Serpents, Vizzerdrix) v1.00. Â D&D 5e Monster Stats
Yet another MTG set! Â The blue creatures this time; all about sea monsters, flying monsters, and rampant magic. Â The sea serpent and drakes were the most iconic of the blue creatures I think, though as the original sea serpent card was never reprinted with new art (limiting the quality of picture I could get for the page) and decided to go with the newer Frilled Sea Serpent for imagery.
In the Ravnica Guide they describe Wind Drakes as being human sized creatures and giving them pteranodon. Â Look at the art of the Wind Drake, does that creature look medium sized to you? Â Look how much bigger it is than the humans next to it. Â It was this weird âLetâs not make new stats for these creatures and just pass it off as another animal in the bookâ that led me to want to make these stats in the first place (Yes, Wind Drake was technically the first one I made stats for of all these 5-creature sets).
I also included the Ancient Carp because I noticed 5e D&D didnât really have a good monstrous fish to eat people, and the Vizzerdrix purely because itâs one of my favorites (kinda surprised they didnât bring it back in any way for the Simic Combine in the Ravnica sets). Hereâs the tokens:

Magic the Gathering: White Creatures (Angels, Avens, Silverclaw Griffin) v1.00. Â D&D 5e Monster Stats
Finally we have the white set. Angels were the most obvious choice, with Serra Angel being a necessary classic card. Herald of faith was a second choice based on it being in the current rotation. White tends to have a lot of soldiers, but as those would be more NPCs (and thereâs already a lot of NPC stats that work for any setting), I picked Avens as another White Mana creature. Then Griffins.
It wasnât my intention at first for the white mana creatures to all be flying, but just kinda happened accidentally. As after all most of their iconic non-flying cards tend to just be soldiers or knights. Oh well.
With this weâre finished the 5-creature sets (no Iâm not doing Artifact/Colorless creatures).
Hereâs the Tokens:Â

About time for me to continue working on my Darkest Dungeon Homebrew. Enjoy some Cove enemies! Next up: Weald!
-Tuz
For everyoneâs information:
The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.
To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.
On the 17th, dead silence.
People are saying log off but what they really mean is donât open the site or the app.
But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.
What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think âoh everyoneâs gone letâs shut down.â What it actually makes them think is âoh shit people arenât happy and if people donât keep using our site weâre out of money and out of jobs.â
A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.
If you want to join in, hereâs what to do:
Do:
Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th
Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad
Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion
Come back on the 18th and check in
Donât:
Delete the app from your phone (this doesnât affect their revenue and since itâs off the store at the moment itâll be hard to get back)
Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and donât use it youâre saying to staff that thereâs still time to save it. If you delete itâs hard work to come back.
Open the app or website (including specific blogs)
Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)
Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.
Remember: the execs donât care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means thereâs $0 further income from it. Thatâs their last possible course of action. If we make it clear weâre not happy, theyâll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.
Protests take commitment. Theyâre a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because theyâre scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.

Dominaria in D&D: The Cabal
âAll hail the Demonlord Belzenlok, Evincar of the Stronghold, Scion of Darkness, Doom of Fools, Lord of the Wastes, Master of the Ebon Hand, Eternal Patriarch of the CabalâŚâ
This week Iâm continuing with Dominaria content, this time with a look at the Cabal.
Themes to use when implementing the Cabal in your games:
Revisionist History. One of the main focuses of the Cabal is their obsessive revisionist history - putting the Demonlord Belzenlok in the place of any historical figure they see fit. For using this in your own games, perhaps the players encounter the Cabal when they are investigating an ancient tomb or ruin - in any social encounter in such an environment, the Cabal would be difficult to ask about useful information, they could be aware of the locationâs layout but would be useless for knowing about its actual history, and tell the same story that it was Belzenlok.
Pit Fighting. The Cabal have, throughout their history, been notorious for the pit fights that they oversee. In the past these were perceived as little more than sporting events of gratuitous violence, but now they also have a ritualistic twist to them, as they are watched by Belzenlok himself. To implement this in your own games, player characters on Dominaria could be captured by the Cabal, and forced into a pit fight against one another, only for them to take the opportunity to team up and fight their way out! A group of captives being brought for a pit fight could even be a way to introduce a party to each other at the start of a Dominaria campaign.
Cabal Magic:
The Cabalâs most infamous magical ability aside from their grasp of more common necromantic magic, is their dementia magic - a dark school of spellcasting used to overwhelm their enemies with confusion and terror. These spells draw on the fears of both the caster and the affected, to create visions that appear as as manifestations of affected creaturesâ fears, such as creatures that they are afraid of, dead loved ones, or creatures in forms that recount a moment of horror in an affected creatureâs life. When building Cabal spellcaster enemies, focus on enchantment and illusion spells that affect creatures in ways that confuse and terrify, as you can see on my design for the Skin-Witch.
Cabal Enemies:
Dread Shade
Undead horrors formed of coalesced black mana, Dread Shades are one of the most powerful troops at the Cabalâs disposal. Their ability to shift in size allows them to become small enough to enter and animate a corpse from within, or large enough to tear through enemy warriors or fortifications. As a result, the Cabal utilise Dread Shades on the front lines when they engage in large-scale warfare.
Skin-Witch
Skin-witches are skilled dementia-casters, whose powerful magic is bolstered by their use of reanimated skins of the faces of their previous victims, the moans of which are enough to hold back their foes through psychic pain, before the skin-witch can kill their foes with their own magic, or the help of other cabal minions.Â

More often than not Iâll crack into a sprawling fantasy series and, while I appreciate the luscious descriptions of furniture, landscapes, and clothing, all Iâm focused on is that I donât actually know how this world works. I only know what it looks like. Â
Including some functionality to your universe can add to immersion and give your reader a strong foundation on which to build their mental model of your universe.Â
You certainly donât need to use all of these questions! In fact, I recommend against that, as all of these certainly wonât make it into your final draft. I personally find that starting my worldbuilding off with 5 to 10 functional questions helps pave the way for glittery and elaborate aesthetic development later on.
How is the healthcare funded in your world?
How does healthcare functionally differ between the wealthy and the poor? (i.e. can only the wealthy go to hospitals? do poor families often have to rely on back-alley procedures?)
Where are health centers (i.e. hospitals, small clinics, etc.) organized in your cities?
Does it differ in smaller towns?
How does this affect peopleâs ability to get healthcare?
Is healthcare magical, and if it is, how does that affect the healthcare system?Â
If healing is instantaneous, how does that affect peopleâs views on injury, illness, and chronic ailments?
If you have both magical and physical healthcare, which one is deemed superior and how does that affect society?Â
What illnesses are common in your world?Â
How does this affect daily life?Â
What do the people in your world think illnesses are?Â
Is it a miasma theory?Â
Humor theory?Â
Demons?Â
Do they know about biological viruses and bacteria?Â
How does this affect healthcare?
How do people get water?Â
Is the water sanitary and if not, how do they sanitize it?
How does agriculture work?Â
Is it large corporations or individual farms?
What sort of agricultural technology exists in your world and how does it affect food production?
Are farmers wealthy or poor?
What sort of natural resources does your world/country(ies) have and how are they obtained?
How does this affect the average wealth of the country?
How does this wealth affect the culture?Â
What livestock or beasts of burden are most valued? Least valued? Why?
What is considered a luxury good vs. a regular good?
What forms of transportation does your world have?
What classes use what forms of transportation?
How far has the average citizen traveled, given your transportation limitations?
Which cities are the most accessible and which are the least? Why?
How do popular transportation methods change how cities/towns are laid out?
Does your world have public transportation? What is it?
Is there a coming-of-age aspect to travel?
Describe your worldâs postal system or whatever equivalent there is.Â
Who pays for it?Â
How reliable is it?Â
Are there emergency methods for transporting information?
How does your world keep time (i.e. watches, sundials, water clock, etc.)?
Does your world have a currency system, barter system, or something else?Â
If you have multiple countries, do different currencies have different values across said countries?
How does this affect travel?
Do you have banks in your world and if so, how are they run?
Who owns the banks? Government? Wealthy? How does this affect the economy and/or class system?
How does credit operate in your universe?
Does your world operate more on big corporations or small business? Something in between?
How are workers/labourers treated in your world?Â
Are there workers unions and if so, what are common views on unions?Â
Describe your tax system. If you donât have a tax system, explain why and how your world is affected by that.Â
Can certain social classes not own property, certain livestock, certain businesses, etc.? Why?
How are business records kept? Are business records kept?
If your world has technology, does your world prioritize developing entertainment tech, communications tech, transportation tech or something else entirely?
What does this say about your world?
How does this affect your economy?
To the closest approximation, what type of government does your world have?Â
How are rulers/presidents/nobles put in place?Â
How much power does an individual ruler have?Â
Is there a veto process?Â
If you have multiple countries, do they have different types of rulers?
Describe any large-scale alliances (i.e. countries, factions, etc.) that are present in your world.Â
How did they come about and how are they maintained?Â
Are they strained or peaceful?Â
How does it affect the greater politics of your world?
Describe how wars are fought both internationally and nationally.Â
Do methods of war differ between countries/races?Â
What about philosophies about war?
If there is a military, what is its hierarchy structure?
How does the military recruit?
Is the military looked upon favourably in your society?
What weapons are used by each country/type of people during warfare, and how does that affect war strategies?
Describe the sentencing system of your world.Â
Is your accused innocent until proven guilty, or guilty until proven innocent?
How are lawbreakers punished?Â
If you have prisons, describe how they are organized and run, and who owns them.Â
Does differing ownership change how the prisons operate?
What are the major ways in which laws between countries vary?Â
Do laws between cities vary? If so, how and why?
How does citizenship work in your world? What rights and privileges do citizens have that others do not?Â
Can certain classes or races not become citizens?
Are there certain taboo subjects or opinions that artist/authors/musicians are not allowed to depict (i.e. portraying the official religion in a negative light, explicit sexual material, etc.)? What does this say about your society?
How do people get around these censorship laws?
What is the official hierarchy of duty in your world? (i.e. is family the most important, or patriotism? What about clan?)
How many languages are there in your world, and how many languages share a common origin?Â
How many people are multilingual?Â
Which language is the most common?
How is multilingualism viewed?
How are different languages viewed? (i.e. is one language ugly/barbaric while another is romantic and sensual?)
Feel free to add your own questions in reblogs or in comments!
Ghoulishly yours for your cannibalistic needsâŚ

God of War in D&D: The Leviathan Axe
Leviathan Axe
Magic Weapon (battleaxe) - Artefact (Requires Attunement by a character with a Strength score of 15 or higher)
This battleaxe forged by dwarven master-smiths is imbued with powers of frost, and can be called to its wielderâs hand at will. Additionally, the axe can be empowered with runic enchantments to deliver a wide array of different attacks. This magic battleaxe has the following properties:
You gain +3 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. Attacks made with this weapon deal an additional 1d4 cold damage.
This axe has the thrown property with a range of 30/120. Any creature directly between you and the target of the attack must make a DC 15 Dexterity throw, suffering damage equal to the weaponâs damage (1d8+3 slashing damage plus 1d4 cold damage) on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save.
You can call the axe to your hand as a bonus action. Any creature between you and the axe must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, suffering damage equal to the weaponâs damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save.
Once per turn you may make a heavy attack with this weapon. You must wield this weapon with both hands when making a heavy attack. A heavy attack deals an additional 1d4 cold damage.
This weapon can have two Runic abilities installed at any one time. Only one of these can be a rune that affects normal attacks, and only one can be a rune that affects heavy attacks.
Runes
Runes can be found as common magic items. While they donât have any power on their own, each rune can add a unique attack that the wielder of the Leviathan Axe can use. Each rune can be used as an action. Light attack runes can be used up to 5 times, and must be used while wielding the axe one-handed. Heavy attack runes can be used twice, and must be used when wielding the axe two-handed. You regain all uses of your runes when you complete a short or long rest.
Runes - Normal Attacks:
NjĂśrdâs Tempest â You spin the axe in a circle, slashing at all foes around you. Each creature within 5 feet of you must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, suffering 1d8+3 slashing damage plus 1d4 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
Fury of the Ice Troll - An icy shockwave blasts out from you in all directions. Each creature within 10 feet of you must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw, suffering 1d4 cold damage and being pushed 10 feet directly away from you, or half as much damage on a failed save.
Tyrâs Revenge â You cast your axe towards one target, holding it spinning in the air slashing that creature. One creature within 10 feet of you must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, suffering 3d8+3 slashing damage plus 3d4 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
Leviathanâs Wake - You throw the axe with tremendous force. Each creature along a 30 feet long line from you in a direction you choose must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 2d8+3 slashing damage and 2d4 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Charge of the White Bear â You rush forward surrounded by frost magic, slamming into an enemy. Move up to your normal movement speed towards a creature, during which you canât be targeted by opportunity attacks, then make an attack against that creature with the Leviathan axe. On a hit, the attack deals an additional 2d4 cold damage, and the creature must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Wrath of the Frost Ancient â You cast a beam of ice from the Leviathan axe. A beam of ice 30 feet long and 5 feet wide emanates from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the beam must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 3d8 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The beam lasts until the start of your next turn.
Strike of the Utgard â You swing the axe in a wide arc, casting a blade of ice to slash into your enemies. Each creature within a 15-foot cone emanating from you must make a DC 15Â Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 2d8+3 slashing damage and 2d4 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Helâs Touch - As a reaction when a creature attacks you, you may create a sudden blast of ice from your axe to force all creatures within 10 feet of you to suffer 1d4 cold damage, and suffer disadvantage on all attacks for one round.
Runes - Heavy Attacks:
Thiaziâs Talon - You cast a vertical blade of frost towards your enemies. Creatures on a 20-foot line from you must make a DC 15 Â Dexterity saving throw, suffering 3d8 cold damage and being knocked prone on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success.
Ivaldiâs Anvil - You slam your axe into the ground unleashing a freezing wave on all creatures within 15 feet of you, which must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. A creature suffers 3d6 cold damage and is restrained for one round on a failed save, or suffers half as much damage on a success.
Mists of Helheim - You create a 10-foot-radius sphere of freezing fog centered on you. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is lightly obscured. It lasts for one minute or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it. Creatures other than you that move through the area must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, suffering 3d6 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
Frost Giantâs Frenzy - Make three heavy attacks with the Leviathan axe. Each of these attacks deals an additional 2d4 cold damage, and deals 1d4 frost damage to all creatures within 5 feet of the target other than you.
Blessings of the Frost - For 2 rounds, the Leviathan axe deals an additional 1d4 cold damage on all attacks.
The River of Knives - Creatures on a 20-foot line from you must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, suffering 2d6 cold damage and 2d6 piercing damage and be pushed 5 feet directly away from you on a failed save, or suffer half as much damage on a success.
Glaive Storm - Make a thrown attack with advantage against a target within range, then all creatures within 20 feet of the original target are must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be automatically hit by a thrown weapon attack. The axe returns to you immediately after hitting the last target, damaging creatures between you and the last target as normal.
Breath of Thamur - You cast the spell ice storm at 4th level, with a spell save DC of 15, centred on yourself. You do not take any damage from this spell.
You can probably tell Iâve been playing a lot of God of War, so I really wanted to try my hand at some homebrew for the new gameâs iconic weapon, the Leviathan Axe. Due to its innate high power and adaptability, I felt it should be the highest rarity level for a magic weapon, and as it battleaxes have the versatile rule, I felt thatâd serve as a good base, which I then gave the thrown property, extended with the line effect to damage creatures other than the main target. As theyâre found around the world in-game, I thought doing the runic attacks as Magic Items would be the best way to represent them.

Skyship Weatherlight in D&D (Download)
For the release week of Dominaria, I decided to make my first rules set for a vehicle with the most iconic one in magicâs history: The Skyship Weatherlight. This design works using the rules for Airborne and Waterborne Vehicles found on page 119 of the Dungeon Materâs Guide. The additional rules I added focused on simple necessities for the ship, like roles of crew members and the shipâs high speed rule (since none of the similar vehicles in the DMG need rules for going this fast), as well as on depictions of the Weatherlight on cards.Â
For example, the Thran Metal Hull ability was inspired by the card Captainâs Maneuver, which also gave some of the inspiration for the maneuver option of the Powerstone (specifically that a charge can be expended to grant advantage on the pilotâs dexterity saving throw granted by Thran Metal Hull). The Powerstone ability was also designed as a way to regulate the shipâs planar travel ability.
These rules are designed to work for Dominariaâs past and present stories, but can also be used in other settings - the Weatherlight would fit well in Spelljammer!
This is one of my first pieces content for Dominaria, when more comes out (and itâll be coming soon after this post), youâll be able to find that, as well as what Iâve already made here! If you want to support my work, you can make a donation to my ko-fi here, or support me on Patreon here for early access to upcoming content and patron-only design process posts.
Playerâs Companion -Â Ixalan Expanded (Download)
With Dominariaâs release next week, this weekâs post is a farewell (for the time being) to one of my favourite planes: Ixalan. Iâve been working on this compilation for a pretty long time, and it includes Feats, Spells, Magic Items, Weapons, class modifications and variant rules. With the designs here I aimed to fill some gaps between what D&Dâs rules provide and what cool stuff is in the Ixalan lore, particularly with the Vampiresâ Blood Fast ability, which I designed as a racial feat for vampires (itâs way longer than ordinary feats but I felt that I really had to make sure it did the ability justice), spells like the piratesâ helmsmagic cantrip and the River Heraldsâ Armour Projection (based on the card Jade Guardian), rules for dinosaur riding, for players who want to play characters like Huatli, and items like the Flamecannon for the Brazen Coalition, and, of course, rules for The Immortal Sun.
