The world has ended; I don’t remember how long has passed since then. All the mages have eventually returned to their stars.
As for others, they were thoroughly decomposed and melded with the earth. And the earth? Its rocks are still here, in the void, floating abysmally.
I wonder if I'll see him here. I wonder if he'll even recognize me. I wonder if I, myself, would be able to find his star...
His twin rests beside him, Pollux. He wasn't there, back on earth...
I inch closer. I wonder if his star would even be contained in my mortal (?) hands. I raise them nonetheless, each one beside his own.
The star shines blindingly.
I can't see my hands anymore. I can't see anything, to be honest.
"You found me finally," he speaks up, his voice faint.
"You said you would meet me when it all came to end, but you never came. So, I had to," I answer back.
A hand raises from the star, and perches on my cheek. His eyes come into view next.
"What happened?" he asks. "I don't know really, it was there and then it was gone," I reply.
"You are not supposed to be here," he speaks up again after sometime.
"I know, but it won't let me merge with it."
"Your star?"
"Yes."
"That's impossible."
"I guess, but that's what has happened."
"So, what will you do now?"
"I don't know really, orbit you, I guess."
"That's funny, I remember that was my job from back when we were on earth"
"Yeah, but we're not on earth anymore, and you're a star now."
"You really were the archmage huh?" He snorts. Then after sometime, his eyes close. The gentle touch of his faint hand disappears. His star is all that is left now. No voice comes out of it.
"Don't leave me," I whisper.
"DON'T LEAVE ME!", I shout, but he's gone to rest now...
