In 1983, Bruiser Brody battled Ric Flair in his first ever shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, which ended in a No Contest as the match simply got too out of hand between the two rule-benders. Nearly two years later in Kansas City, Brody would defeat Flair for the championship, but the decision would be reversed due to the original referee, who had been knocked out during the match, reversed the decision due to Flair throwing Brody over the top rope to the outside. Since such a thing was illegal in 1985, Flair was disqualified, but would remain the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
