When you thought that Ran was a crybaby who always cling to Shinichi and cries a lot when he disappeared.
You have to remember this.
Ran Mouri probably suffers from abandonment issues due to her parents' separation.
Ran's childhood days were not as perfect. Her parents were separated, and it deals a great blow to the young girl who always hope for a complete and happy family like any children does.
Worse, her father, Kogoro, was probably too depressed to comfort Ran, that she was alone. Add to the fact that her inner personality affects her character. She doesn't want anyone to see her as a "burden" to others, causing her to hide her real feelings from her friends and family (she always flashes a smile that never reaches her eyes).
(I also experienced that as my parents were also separated at a young age. It's not easy to grow up knowing that they would never ever be together, and eventually developed into a adult crybaby with abandonment issues.)
Shinichi, her childhood friend, was her rock in those trying times. He was always there for her, comforting her in his own way. At the same time, when 14-year-old Shinichi was left alone by his parents, Ran did the same as she could feel the same feeling Shinichi has: having their parents left them alone (in Kogoro's case, became kind of neglectful).
So when Shinichi had disappeared that day in Tropical Land, her abandonment issues flared up, as she had possibly imagine her mother leaving her that fateful day, at the same time Shinichi was leaving her. She had a deep instinct that she will never see him again, as she has also experienced that when Eri left her and Kogoro.
I have been a fan of Detective Conan for 5 years, but it never changed my adoration for the one and only Ran Mouri. That's because as a young woman who also suffers abandonment issues and tried hard to hide her feelings for the sake of others, I could also relate to her... If only I have a Shinichi Kudo to grow up with.
A strong, independent woman can also cries a lot. She is also human like anyone else, she can feel emotions and has her own flaws and insecurities. ❤️
In the events of ep 205-206 happen very differently, where instead of Takagi trying to crawl out of the window, he tries to run out since he couldn't crawl out of the window frame with his horns and build. Resulting in the lower parts of his legs to be burnt.
And in the events of ep 535, when he was getting beaten up, the culprit broke off his right horn which disoriented him badly, especially with how much was broken off.
In the events of ep 304, Shiratori used his wings as a shield from the explosion as he was trying to get out of his car.
While it left only smaller burns on his cheek and neck, his wings suffered from severe burns from the blast. Especially his left wing which took the blunt of the explosion.
His wings were lucky still intact and can heal over time, but with the amount of damage the burns caused it would take almost a year for him to heal completely.

OMG THE CONAN MOVIE 29 IS FINALLY ANNOUNCED IN MY COUNTRY THEN A FEW HOURS LATER THEY ANNOUNCE MASUMI SERA'S VA WILL APPEAR IN AN EVENT???? IN MY COUNTRY?????
OMG THE CONAN MOVIE 29 IS FINALLY ANNOUNCED IN MY COUNTRY THEN A FEW HOURS LATER THEY ANNOUNCE MASUMI SERA'S VA WILL APPEAR IN AN EVENT???? IN MY COUNTRY?????
So you mentioned how there's a canon event where Takagi walked to the department badly beaten because you saw a whitepine clip, tell us more about that event
Okay universal canon event.
Takagi was supposed to be on a three day break, so when he suddenly arrived two days later at the department badly beaten up and bleeding, everyone was panicking and concerned at what happened in those two days and how long he was bleeding out.
It turns out he was attacked by someone late at night on his way home, he didn't remember the exact events that happened since his was hit in the head and badly disoriented as he was getting beaten up.
All he remembers was his assaulter asking about some notebook, his bag was of course stolen but it only had a few reports he was finishing up, his phone and wallet was in his jacket.
By some coincidence his case was very similar to the three recent separate cases where someone was badly beaten up and one of those cases the victim had died from their injuries.
Conan who was there with Kogoro because the man was asked by the parents of the dead victim to solve their daughter's murder, noticed that one of the victims cameras had captured a photo with Takagi in the background, and when checked it seems that all four cases were connected as the camera included every victim.
And that's all I have for the moment but I'll probably write more on this later.
I AM SO GLAD that people are talking about how the 2026 Odyssey movie is pushing Christian monotheistic standards on Ancient Greek polytheism that is objectively a completely different theological structure
(To preface I am not a Christian but I love learning about theology) no, “Zeus’s law” is not the same as something Christian god would decree. Zeus does not “love” humans the way that Christian god is described to love humans. “God”’s commandments are for the benefit of humans and so they love each other, Zeus’s “laws” are basically threats because we are not his children and he doesn’t even like his actual children.
you treat a Christian angel badly in disguise and they might smite you. you treat them well and they’ll reward you.
you treat a god in disguise well and they don’t kill you. you treat them badly and they kill you.
you don’t defy the gods, they are literally everywhere and everything. you don’t live under their rules because they have your best interests at heart, you live staying out of their way and making sacrifices and praying to them for your own safety because at the smallest slight, they will literally create plagues, wars, and whole seasons.
Odysseus works with Athena but that is because he is the EXCEPTION not the RULE
in Christian scripture, being good and generous is rewarded. In classical mythology you literally don’t have any other choice but to make yourself useful because the gods didn’t care how many humans died in the titanomachy and they won’t care if they kill one more.
Zeus’s law isn’t a decree or a scripture, it’s a lesson you learn the hard way and you pass onto your children. But that’s also because Zeus’s law isn’t even REAL and Greek hospitality can’t be boiled down to one single aspect of their mythology and culture Mr Nolan I’m looking at you when I say this
EDIT: TL;DR is that anglicizing the concept of Xenia reduces it to essentially the most prominent western societal understanding of religion-based “deity in disguise” generosity, which comes from biblical values. My post is just defining the ways that those two instances of “gods in disguise” differ
(additionally) Christopher Nolan’s movie simplifies Xenia into being specifically godly, when it actually extends to a larger custom of political and generational alliances, which Emily Wilson’s translation discusses, but this movie doesn’t 🤗

I just finished rewatching captured in her eyes for the first time in years (genuinely I think the last time I watched it was right after I finished watching the old funimation dubbed episodes before I switched over to watching subbed)
And it is giving me thoughts about the Takagi is Matsuda AU
And because of these thoughts I have come to a conclusion:
Ran knows about Takagi's amnesia.
When ran lost her memories, I think he probably would have checked on her a few times, even before he got assigned to guard her with Chiba. And I feel he probably would have told her about his own expenses with the condition, it can be comforting to know you're not the only one who's experienced something after all. (Though I imagine he would probably try to avoid revealing the fact that he still hasn't remembered anything, to avoid discouraging her.)
I don't think he would have told her the full story at that point, more an abridged version that gets the point across while omitting any potentially distressing details.
She doesn't get a fuller picture until she asks him about it some time after her own memories have returned. At which point she'd probably also learn about his own lack of progress in regaining his memories.
A while later, when Takagi and Sato start dating, Ran encourages Takagi to be honest and tell Sato the truth (he was already planning to, but needed a gentle push to muster the courage to actually go through with it)
What's the big scar on his back about? Is it from his childhood? During his kidnapping before he got saved by Vermouth?
Here's what the scar looks like.
They were in fact caused during his kidnapping, the kidnappers were drunk and left a lot of glass bottles around.
At some point he tried to run and one of the kidnappers caught him and in a fit of rage, threw him onto the pile of glass bottles, which resulted in them breaking and cutting his back.
Luckily Vermouth found him since the kidnappers hideout was close to where she was doing an assassination.
Jin found something he wasn't supposed to? Was he killed??? What did he find??
He found the remains of one of the missing children in one of the animatronics, when he was asked to do a maintenance check since the maintenance guy wasn't around to do so.
But he did it on the wrong animatronic which led to him finding it.
I won't go into details due to what I'm planning but yes, Jin does get killed.
In a prior fic Ichiro noted that Soshi can see through disguises, but he COULDN'T see through Chloe. And then I remembered Soshi's words to Ichiro; You're not a chameleon, I can see through you.
Implying Chloe/Kamron/Chameleon is SO good at disguising she can fool even Soshi's eyes?? And if that's the case, how many times has she been around and no one noticed????
The detectives are awake I see.
Yes, you are absolutely right about everything (I told you the anagram was easy lol)
And Kameron is around a lot, but you'll start getting more backstory and hints on her from here on out.

So uhm. Trans shinichi ficlet pretty please with a cherry on top?? Like, abt his journey on finding his gender identity 🥹🥹🥹(—Im not sure if you were expecting me to ask a ficlet so soon but like, im a big fan of trans shin why would i not ask this???)
Throwing these all together because I'm a monster and they're all easier to fit in one fic.
Ending this cycle with some slight angst and food for thought! Good luck!
Fic below the cut 🍀 this is the last fic of this cycle (note: this fic will contain implications of body/gender dysmorphia, brief mention of female puberty/menstration, and some broad implications of trans erasure, trans ignorance and transphobia. Please do not proceed if any of that bothers you!)
There was something strange about knowing you weren't who you're supposed to be.
To wake up one day, and realize that something was... off.
Foreign.
Uncanny.
Shinichi was born just as any person was, and was named similarly to her uncle. It was a masculine name, but things like that didn't really matter to the Kudos. Besides, her nickname, "Shin-chan", was broad enough that no one really thought twice.
And she didn't really think twice about anything in relation to herself either.
She knew that she and Kaito were identical twins, but she couldn't understand why they were treated slightly differently.
Kaito was always "he, him, his" but Shinichi was always "she, her, hers". But that made no sense, because at school, people referred to Shinichi as "he, him, his" also. So why was she only different at home?
She and Kaito looked identical. They wore their hair the same way, shoulder length and a little curled due to their mother's genetics. They wore the same kind of clothes, did the same kind of hobbies, and made the same kind of friends. There was nothing outwardly different about them, aside from those strange differing pronouns.
When she asked her mother, Yukiko had told her that it was because she was a girl, and Kaito was a boy.
She didn't really understand it, and honestly, didn't really like it either.
Shinichi preferred to be treated like Kaito was, but she began to realize that that was pretty difficult in everyday life.
Girls and boys were treated differently.
Different bathrooms, different clothing, different sports teams, different everything. Almost nothing overlapped for them, and that made it hard for Shinichi to act as she wanted.
She had decided to just do whatever she wanted, just as she always had.
She dressed in shorts and pants, she went into the boy's bathroom, played on boy teams, and no one was any the wiser.
Most people assumed Shinichi was a boy, so she was never told that what she was doing was "wrong".
However, when Yukiko caught Shinichi going into the boy's room, she had scolded her.
"Shin-chan, you can't go into the boy's bathroom!"
"Why not?"
"You're not a boy! You have to use the girl's bathroom!"
"But I don't want to use the girl stuff! I don't like the girl stuff!"
"Ehhh??" Yukiko paused to look down at Shinichi, and saw how she planted her feet into the ground to avoid being tugged along. "But... Shin-chan, you ARE a girl."
Shinichi's expression crumpled up in annoyance. Being a girl was inconvenient, and everyone already thought she was a boy anyways. So where was the harm? Nothing changed at all!
When Yukiko couldn't get Shinichi to budge, she relented and let her use the boy's room. But, she didn't let the conversation go.
When they got home, Yukiko told Yusaku, who then promised to handle it.
So, when he and Shinichi were reading in his office, he called her over to speak with her.
"Shinichi, what's this I hear about you wanting to use the boy's restroom?"
Shinichi pouted, hugging The Study of Scarlet to her chest.
"I like using the boy's room."
"And why is that?"
"Because boy things suit me best!"
Yusaku raised an eyebrow at that.
"Is someone pressuring you to think that way?"
Shinichi shook her head. "Kaito gets to be a boy, so why can't I? We're identical twins!"
"Well, that's because Kaito is a boy, biologically. Just like how you're a girl biologically. Being identical twins just means you two were formed from one egg. But we're fairly certain you two are semi-identical, since you don't share any of the genetic or health issues that would come from identical twins becoming different genders. We're not quite sure, but the fact is something happened during your development."
Sensing Shinichi was utterly lost from how she stared at him, Yusaku back-tracked.
"What I mean to say is, just because you and Kaito were born at the same time and look similar, doesn't mean you two have to do everything the other does.
"Just be yourself. Your mother and I won't love you any less."
"So if I want to be a boy...?"
"Then we would respect your decision. However, you're not even 10 yet. If you decide you really do want to become a boy after you turn 13, then we can talk about future ways to help you down that path.
"For now, just enjoy your childhood."
Shinichi still didn't quite understand, but if he could continue being a boy, then that was all he wanted.
The next day, Shinichi asked Yukiko to cut his hair short enough to be easily smoothed back (and Kaito wanted it too, because he wanted to be like Shinichi) and, it felt like he was on the path to being who he wanted to be.
It was easy enough to convince his friend group, since all of them thought he was a boy anyways. And for a while, Shinichi was happy with life. That is, until he hit puberty.
Waking up one day with his lower half coated in blood was, admittedly, a terrifying situation.
Yukiko luckily was home to help calm Shinichi down, and then reminded him that he would have to deal with this monthly, at least until he decided on how he wanted to proceed with deciding which gender he wanted to live as.
Shinichi was horrified he forgot something so important. Wanting to live as a boy didn't mean his body automatically agreed with him and changed suit.
"I-I want to live as a boy! How do we make the bleeding thing STOP??"
Because he wasn't 15 yet, he wasn't able to start hormone therapy. However, Yukiko compromised with birth control to start. While it wasn't perfect, it would help in the long run.
However, at least for now Shinichi had to bear with it. Once Kaito was sure that Shinichi wasn't dying, he became oddly protective and attentive to Shinichi's troubles.
And oddly, Shinichi was happy that this situation didn't change Kaito's opinion of him. The issue was that he'd offhandedly mentioned it around Ran, who jolted out of her seat in surprise.
"Y-you're BLEEDING????"
After explaining Shinichi's situation to Ran (and forbidding Kaito from bringing it up in public again) she was still extremely confused, but she promised to keep it to herself and just like Kaito, became fiercely protective over him.
They had ended up deciding not to tell Sonoko, but Ran said it was only a matter of time before she found out on her own. Otherwise no one aside from the three and the twin's parents knew. And Shinichi was happy to never have to explain his circumstances to anyone else, especially after he started hormone therapy.
But after being poisoned and turning into Conan for much of his daily life, Shinichi grew complacent.
He didn't need to take birth control or his hormone therapy anymore because Conan was at the age that he naturally looked like a boy anyways. But when he reverted back to Shinichi, his body was essentially returned to that of a normal female body.
So, when he had taken a sip of the baiganr that Heiji had brought over as a "cold relief", he ended up reverting back to Shinichi.
It was a surprise to everyone when Shinichi "appeared", but for Ran it was mortifying.
Shinichi hadn't fixed himself up before arriving; his hair was a mess and curling around his ears, and his chest wasn't bound as it normally was. To the group gathered, a random teenager girl had just stumbled onto a crime scene.
"W-what are you doing here without your vest??" Ran angrily whispered, quickly buttoning the jacket Shinichi was wearing to hide his bust. "What if someone saw??"
But Shinichi couldn't really process what she was saying, not that he would've really cared if he DID recognize her warning. He was more preoccupied with solving the case at hand.
Despite Ran's efforts, Heiji had noticed Shinichi. And was... confused. This girl looked like Shinichi, but just different enough to give him pause. Heiji turned to see if the others were confused as well, but they apparently didn't notice the differing body shapes, presumably thanks to Ran jumping in.
Heiji had confronted Shinichi, looking down at him like some girl playing detective, and was promptly grabbed and slammed against the wall by an annoyed Shinichi.
"Stay quiet and pay attention." Shinichi growled, feeling his body overheating from the fever he had just been enduring. "Otherwise you're gonna miss the actual solution."
Heiji faltered, and immediately backed down. If only Shinichi had thought a bit harder about what he had done; he'd inadvertently shown his true self to a stranger.
Perhaps Shinichi figured any issues could be solved with Kaito taking his appearance, or perhaps he hadn't thought of it at all.
Whether or not Shinichi had thought about it much didn't end up mattering down the line, because Heiji had also found out he was Conan on top of everything else.
Thankfully, Heiji's brain couldn't seem to keep two secrets locked up at once. When he found out Shinichi was Conan, he'd taken to referring to him by Kudo no matter the form, and apparently completely forgotten that Shinichi was biologically female.
There were some other people who found out his born gender, but luckily they were all extremely good at keeping secrets, or just genuinely didn't care either way.
The only person who Shinichi couldn't properly gauge was his own brother.
Sure, Kaito was supportive and somewhat overprotective, but Shinichi sensed something else under the surface as well.
For one thing, he noticed how Kaito seemed to enjoy dressing as a woman during his heists.
Shinichi off-handedly brought it up, and at the time Kaito had laughed it off. But then it happened again, and again, and again.
And suddenly it wasn't something that was easy for Shinichi to write off.
When it was just the two of them at Agasa's, Conan had decided to ask about it.
"What?" Kaito looked up from the prop dummies he often used at his heists, looking over at Conan with a bit of defensive confusion.
"I said, do you like dressing as a girl?"
"What brought that on?"
"Well I noticed how much you end up dressing as a girl," Conan shrugged, fiddling with the dial on his sneakers. "I was just wondering if there was a reason, or something."
"... Does it matter?"
"Of course? You're my brother!"
Kaito clenched the screwdriver tightly in his fist. "No, I mean, does anything in relation being a girl matter to you?"
"Uh? I don't really understand what that means—"
"Of course you don't. You don't process things related to gender because you ignore everything gender related that happens to you.
"Is it nice, being a little kid again? You don't have to take your pills or shots, and you don't get your period anymore either. You get to live exactly as you want."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean??" Conan sat up to glare at him, tossing the sneaker aside. "I was just asking a question!"
"You're always 'just asking questions' and never thinking about how the answers make people feel!" Kaito slammed the screwdriver down onto the workbench. "You always act like the world is out to get you, but at the same time you act like you're the king of the world!
"You hated turning into Conan, and hated having to hide from Ran, but now you're just acting like everything is fine! Just falling into new habits and living it up as just a kid with no responsibilities and no stake to the body you left behind!"
Conan at first.... couldn't understand where this was coming from. The last time Kaito snapped at him like this was... well, it was when he wanted him to tell Ran the truth. But where that was rooted in the feelings of someone else, THESE feelings felt scarily personal.
Thankfully, you didn't need to be a detective to eventually see where this pain was stemming from.
"...You're just like me..."
Kaito averted his eyes, but the emotions were clear.
"Can you even imagine what it's like? To wake up every day knowing the body you want was just a gene away? That someone else got your dream body, and all they want to do is change it? To become what you're not? And they don't even realize how you feel about it until it's spelled out for them?"
Conan could relate, truthfully. If he had Kaito's body, then he wouldn't even need to do any of this in the first place. But that fate wasn't in the cards for them, and they had to deal with the hand they were dealt.
"Kaito, you could be anyone or anything you want. What does it matter what body you were born into?"
"Because I can wear as much padding or foam or makeup as I want, but I can't change my body itself without cutting it open or pumping myself full of hormones.
"There's an emptiness when I dress as the person I want to be, but knowing each time I look in the mirror that it's just a mask.
"That I'll never attain the image I want for myself." Kaito went back to working on the dummies, and the room was silent now aside from the tinkering sounds and the soft hum from the muted radio Agasa kept on the shelf to be fixed in the future.
Conan went to pick up his sneaker, glancing down at it before glancing at Kaito's back.
"If I could trade bodies with you, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
"Uhm. Minus the Conan part."
Kaito chuckled despite himself. "What? You wouldn't want me to be tiny again for you to coddle?"
"Hell no. You're annoying enough as a teenager, I would never be able to handle you in a kid's body."
"Haha! But I'm Kaitou Kid! I'm always in Kid's body."
"Shut up. You know I was feeling bad for upsetting you before, but now I don't wanna hear you speak." Conan started to head to the door, before pausing.
"...
"I'm sorry that I made you feel that way. I never meant to, honest."
"I know. But if I never mentioned it, you never would have realized it." Kaito glanced over his shoulder at him. "You're pretty oblivious like that. I'm sorry for freaking out at you over a question."
Conan gripped the doorknob, the irony of the situation making his eyes sting and water up, just a tad.
"You're not the only one who felt that way, you know. I have to endure the same things you do."
Conan left immediately after that, shutting the door just as Kaito fully turned around to face him. However, he seemed a bit confused, rather than angry or concerned.
Kurosawa Jin, the first and last night guard to question the management of this place and how fucking stupid everyone is.
Had very bad anger issues, genuinely hates his job, questions why the fuck are a quarter of these robots are trying to kill him for existing, was the one who recorded the tapes for the next guy after he plans to quit.
Worked for like a month before stopped coming to work, 'quit' his job according to management, which is weird because he doesn't quit until like the end of the month.
