I think my biggest tip would be research.  Research herbs and their uses, candles, colors, incense, oils, etc and all of their correspondents.  Then take what you learned an apply it into a simple ritual or spell.  Start off with practicing on casting a circle, etc.  A wonderful go to for beginners would be anything by Scott Cunningham http://www.amazon.com/Scott-Cunningham/e/B000APBR5W

What is a sigil?

It’s a fancy way of saying “symbolic drawing.” But it’s more than that, too. A sigil is a representation of an idea, and more specifically, a goal, dream, ambition, hope or desire. By writing out something you truly want to happen in your life, and turning those words into a symbol that is personally meaningful to you, it brings that entirely imaginary thought one step closer to existing in the real world.

Chris’s long distance spell

Take two candles in your favorite colors. Carve each of your names into once candle. Anoint candle in your favorite oil.

 Put the candles in a base. Wrap pink ribbon around each base but keep them a distance apart.

 Everyday for a week light the candles and use the ribbon to pull them closer together.

Say the words as you pull them alittle closer together.

Together we shall be

Together soon you’ll see

Bring us close in heart

Never shall we part.
