HOW CAN I SAY NO TO YOU
just an excellent study on perspective. because " i was shot in the street, you didnt call" "im a selfish bastard. i dont have an answer" dialogue could be read to show Louis is such a cruel light. but it doesnt. it extends so much grace and sympathy and empathy to him. because we see it through Lestat's perspective. its what he offers to Louis here. and even after seeing Louis' state, he goes to see Regina as Louis asked. irrespective of what it could do to him. Louis called. and he went.

Why let the past stay in the past?
At a time when Netflix is getting roundly criticized for forcing its shows to treat the audience like we have all of two brain cells to rub together, The Vampire Lestat is out here volleying everything from 70s gay references to 1700s Dutch Republic references at the speed of light while saying, "You don't get it? Well, that's a fucking you problem."
And I love that for us.
he's not wrong.

the way the human mind and relationships and how people love is the biggest horror in this show.

The idea that Claudia's rape was 'made about Lestat' is such a profoundly idiotic, 2012 Tumblr level of 'criticism' I can't take it seriously.
Lestat is being raped in the scene. He is not being told of Claudia's rape, he is not reacting to it, his own rape is happening on screen. Claudia's is being narrated, we don't see it because 1) she is dead 2) it's her own words.
The reason why people don't get why is being paralled is again, the same reason people don't get anything in this fucking fandom: giving Louis some accountability for his own damn actions.
The reason why Lestat and Claudia's rapes are being shown at the same time is because that's what Louis did. He aired them both to world, he got them both exploited in that book. It has nothing to do with Lestat knowing or reacting to what happened to Claudia. So no, it was not 'made about Lestat' or 'it's the trope where they make a woman's rape about a man'.
The only person that made her rape (and Lestat's) about himself is Louis. He made it about his guilt, he made it about how Lestat recounting his was the only way he 'forgave him'. And the show's narrative is calling him out on how fucked up and exploitative that was.
But you can cover your ears and sing lalalalala if that makes you feel better.
