 she   doesn’t   seem   to   be   fond   of   the   other’s   reply ,  but   then   on   this   planet. really   fond   of   anything   on   this   planet.   she   had   only   been   forced   to   be   here   due   to   having   information   on   hessonite –   someone   who   the   crystal   gems   quite   desperately   were   trying   to   find.   but   squaridot   knew   much ,  much   better   than   to   ever   betray   the   person   she   served   underneath.   if   she   were   to   fail   hessonite ,  then   she   would   be   broken.   and   that   was   the   absolute  opposite  of   what   she   could   have   ever   wanted.   so   she   kept   her   mouth   shut.  

&   now   she   refuses   to   speak   to   the   other –   if   they   cannot   get   along   than  they   have   no   reason   to   try   to   be.  frankly   she   was   much   more   concerned   with   escaping   this   place   than   doing   anything   that   even   remotely   consider   spending   time   with   these   pebbles.

『    ℓ.   』    Questions   lapis ,   slightly  confused   by   the   question.   she  had   explained   why   she   was   sorry   clearly   enough ,  didn’t   she  ?   she   had   broken   something   peridot   clearly   valued  ,  all   because    she   did   not   want   to   accept   the   apology   she’d   given.   she’s   still   not   sure   why   she   had   to   do   that ,  she   felt   bad   about   it.   but   to   her   it   was   a   choice ,  and   she   had   temporarily   reveled   in   the  fact   she   could   refuse   to   forgive.   but ..   lapis   had   realized   that   was   stupid.   because   peridot   deserved   a   second   chance.  

❝       no ,  it’s   my   fault.   you   were   just   following   diamond   orders   taking   me   here ..  i   shouldn’t   have  broken   your   tape   recorder   over   that.     ❞  

『    ℓ.   』   Lapis   insists ,  refusing   to   allow   her   to   take   the   blame   when   she   was   clearly   at   fault   here.   she   had   been   stubborn  ,  yes ,  but   steven   had   proven   to   her   that   this   maybe   could   work.   there   was   no   need   to   not   accept   fault   here ,  if   it   meant   the   possibility   of   living   here   safely. 

 it   was  completely   unimaginable   that   her   fellow   peridot   would   take   up   companionship   with   such   pebbles  like   the   self   proclaimed   heroes   of   earth.  because   plain   and   simple   doing   things   that   these   crystal   gems   did   would   have   gotten   her   shattered   decades   ago.   she   would   never   even   consider   the   idea   of   joining   them ,  but   her   fellow   peridot   was   getting   pushy  about   it.  

she   scoffs ,   brushing   her   off   as   she   crosses   her   arms.   a   single   eye  looking   down   on   the   other   as   she   holds   back   the   urge   to   be   rude.   but ,  no   matter   how   hard   she   tries ;  it’s   coming   out   anyways.  

❝       no   i  will   NOT   join   your   team ,  i   will   NOT  give  away   my   commander’s   location ,  and   i  will   NOT   be   your   “  friend  !  “    ❞

『    ℓ.   』   Living   on   earth   wasn’t   easy   for   her.   she’d   spent   so   long   being   a   neutral   party ,  spent   so   long   running  ,  that   she   felt   like   staying   still   would   surely   be   the   death   of   her.   however ,  she   had   realized   through   talking   to   steven   that ,  she   didn’t   need   to   take  that   out   on   peridot.  sure ,  they   weren’t  friends.  but   steven   seemed   insistent   that   she   was   no   longer   an   enemy.

『    ℓ.   』   Her   arm   extends ,  &   she   holds   out   a   tape   recorder.  she   had   asked   steven   the   best   way   to   apologize ,  &   he   said   through  a   gift ,  like   she’d   tried.   so   lapis   had   concluded   the   best   gift   to   offer   was   what   she’d   broken.   if   they  were   staying   here   together ,  she’d   have   to   manage   to   keep  on   good   terms.
