I was super excited to be buying my very first smartphone and I’ve had a pretty interesting experience with my Page Plus iPhone, here is the story.

Having a iPhone 4 or 4s makes your life a whole lot easier - you’re never lost, you can look up information whenever you need it, utilize millions of apps...you know what I mean.

Yeah, having an iPhone is great...until you get the bill from Verizon or AT&T.

Most major cell carriers require that you purchase the phone, a regular “plan”, that includes text and calling minutes, and then an additional shared data plan to use the iphone with Verizon or AT&T. These shared data plans usually add at least $30 onto the price of your bill, but it’s not in the advertised price. Most people pay about $80 or more for iphone service with Verizon or AT&T.

Then there is that whole two-year iphone contract that is required from Verizon and AT&T.  Phone contracts seem really outdated, so I started looking for a more practical way to get smartphone service.

Well, that’s where Page Plus iPhone comes in. If you have a Verizon iPhone 4 or iphone 4s, you can bring it to Pageplusiphone.net  and your Verizon iphone will work the same as Verizon contract service, but you avoid paying all the extra costs for iphone service. This usually costs you about half of what you would pay with Verizon per month. For example, I use the $29 plan which gives me 1200 calling minutes, 3000 text messages and 500mb of data. My page plus iphone plans is totally better than signing up for a Verizon contract plan. The same iphone plan through Verizon would cost me more than $75/month before taxes.

As for service, you’re going to get the exact same call quality and network as you did on Verizon. That’s because Page Plus runs on the same networks and the same cell towers as Verizon. Page Plus is a Verizon MVNO, which stands for Mobile Virtual Network Operator. It is literally the exact same infrastructure for half of the price.

Why doesn’t everyone do this? Well, most people don’t know about it. Others might think that their phone will only work if they stay with their carrier, and if they switch, they will have to buy a whole new phone (false!) Some think that they can’t get out of their Verizon contract and lower Verizon bill. (false!)
