I keep seeing people talk about those things and Iâm, like, so mad that I havenât come across one yet. I just want to see one! And maybe punt it!
â
I swear to fuck, Iâll put this out on a blimp! Plane? Fuck me, Iâll write it on a shirt and wear it around the Common every day. Do not go after the lobstrosities!
But since no one takes my damn advice, wear a steel toe boot. Thingsâre stronger than the average lobster. Thereâs a reason that theyâre not called Lobsters of Unusual Size. The name ainât a threat, itâs a promise.
ironcladrhettâ:
Donât know what that means. Anyway, not steel. Iron. If they got foam, thatâs on them. Bad practice.
Maybe soulsâre a crock ahâ shit. Maybe everythinâ that dies can have a ghost. Maybe we ainât perceptive enough to see the little ones. Nothinâ would surprise me at this point.
Oh, like... LARP. Live Action Role-Playing. Folks dress up as characters â like, say, pirates â and act âem out. Never participated myself, but I hear itâs fun. Not deadly, so, like, bro, be careful with the iron or the steel or the foam. Wait, is this not a bit?
Yeah, Iâm gonna need a bowl to think thatân over. âS a nice thought ân all, but thatâs a lot of ghosts. Swimminâ around in the, uh, spectral water. Regular water?
ironcladrhettâ:
Saw the flag. Heard âem callinâ orders. Definitely dead pirates, gonna be extra dead when I get at âem. Heh. Good chance of that happeninâ. Me? Countinâ on it. Good scar story.
What, you a soul expert?Â
You sure they ainât just... cosplayers? LARPers? Iâd hate for ya to interrupt some LARPers havinâ a good time in their, uh, spooky haunted pirate LARP. Never bring steel to a foam fight and all that.
Well... Nah, no. But I donât think my worldview can cope with fish ghosts. If fish ainât got souls, they ainât got ghosts, right? This isnât an All Dogs Go to Heaven situation. All Fishes Go to Fish Heaven?
evebrennanâ:
So what youâre saying, in theory, is if I get myself into trouble with some lobstrosities, thereâs a chance youâll come running up to me with a hockey stick to whack it? Scale of 1 to maimed, how bad could this go if you donât show up with a hockey stick? Because this might be worth seeingâŚ
â
What Iâm sayinâ is: Donât get near the overgrown arthropods! On a scale of one to maimed? Full maimage!
Look, Iâm not sayinâ I wonât look amazinâ with a gray streak from savinâ your ass, but, jeez, everyone in this town has a death wish!Â

ironcladrhettâ:
Gonna be good things when I get to fight pirates.
Lots of boats to be had, seems like. Maybe haunted by fish ghosts, canât say yet. Â
Pirates? There are fuckinâ pirates? Alright, I can reconsider my opinion. So long as I donât get cutlassâd â cutladâd?
[User has a brief existential crisis about fish ghosts.] Fish... do not have souls.
Has anyone else seen these big ass lobsters? I know weâre a coast town but damn. Might try to catch one and see if its any good.
Bro, if your ass gets kicked by a lobstrosity, donât say I didnât warn ya.Â
Seriously, though. You get run down by one, Scooby-Doo style, and need some backup? Iâm available any day that ends in a y. Still got a grudge âgainst those shits.Â
Boats. Ghost boats. Lots of âem. Need a real one to go check âem out. Anyone got a real boat and spine? Can pay.
See folks? This is what Iâm fuckinâ sayinâ. Nothing good happens at that beach.
I got a spine, but no boat. Could buy a boat. What should I put in the ad? âISO: One boat, never hauntedâ? Eat your heart out, Hemingway.
Unless youâre like super into the idea of leaving modern life behind, I donât recommend going to the âRenn Faireâ in the Common. Theyâre like super intense about it and tried to run me outta the place for filming a TikTok. 0/10 recommend.Â
Also, taking tips for keeping my running routes totally in the present day side of things.Â
Kid, what have we said about talkinâ to strangers with pitchforks? âJust donât.â ... Did they break your phone?
As for runninâ... Well, I know a guy who needs to keep himself in shape if he doesnât want teenagers to call him slow. Wanna hit the trails?
Hey everyone, I just got my phone back. My friend decided I needed a staycation and hid it well.  Actually, I think was pissed off about the demon thing really.  He said something about âyou need to cleanse your soulâ which is fucking ridiculous in my personal opinion. For a guy whoâs met my family heâs very concerned about MY undying soul. I was GROUNDED. Itâs mY HOUSE. You give up believing in God and suddenly Priests are super angry about it. Whatever, I should be fine now at least.Â
Sorry if I missed any of your messages! Just wanted to let everyone know that Iâm fine. Perfectly chipper now and would like to leave the house.Â
With how often folks break their damn phones âround here and cause a conniption, Iâd be a little less eager to go hidinâ my friendâs, if you were my friend.
Speaking of: Winn Woods. Nice to have a fresh face in the âLost, Broken, Stolen, Hidden, or Otherwise Disabledâ Phone Club.

If anyone catches sight of one of those shit, what were they called, what can I call them? lobstrosities? Run. Or, better yet, donât even go to the beach âround here. Nothinâ good ever happens at that beach.
... That said. As someone whoâs made more than a coupleâa dumbass drunken decisions, canât say Iâd be mad if I got called in to help. Last real bad season for âem, I broke a good hockey stick getting one to stay down. Safety in packs numbers.
Name: Winn Woods Species: Werewolf Occupation:Â Hockey Coach Age: 28 Years Old Played By: Zee Face Claim: Lewis Tan
âYâall can try to outrun the past⌠But trust me: Itâs a fast fucker.â
Winn was born into greatness, destined to be a winner. As sole heir to his single motherâs political legacy, Winn quickly learned two things: 1.) Donât ask about your father. 2.) Excel. And so, Winn molded himself into the perfect, All-American Teen. His grades? Passable enough, for a future politician. Extracurriculars? Winn captained his high school hockey team and led them to victory at states, twice. Raised at campaign events, Winn learned his momâs best tricks for making people happy, even without lying. And why shouldnât he make folks happy?
Through all of this, Winn never gave much thought to what he wanted. His mother wanted success, so heâd give her success. So long as he was moving along his predetermined path, he could be content, right? Winn was the vessel for his motherâs hopesâfor herself, for the future, for America. With the right phone calls (and a well-placed donation), he could attend a good college, get a degree, any degree would do, and claim his destiny. And if Winn didnât quite know what that was, so what?
But college changed things. Left to his own devices for the first time, Winn felt like he could finally be himself. Given a sip of freedom, Winn drank heavily of it. Parties, after all, were filled with happy people. And the best parties were thrown by the Dogs. More formally known as the brothers of Alpha Rho Phi, the Dogs were the usual mix of salmon shorts and homoerotic subtext, sure, but there was something⌠more. The best part, though? The Dogs didnât care about who Winn was or who he was supposed to be. Shit, his motherâs name meant nothing. By the time Winn finished rushing, and had proven his mouth could do more than just talk pretty to a number of the brothers, Winn was in and the Dogsâ secret was out.
The truth? The brothers were more than just a fraternity, they were a pack of born werewolves. Winn was a curiosityâa humanâbut the pack had agreed. They wanted him there, wanted Winn to join their pack. With them, Winn saw a chance to be more than what his mother had wanted. What was a little risk when heâd finally realized the alternative was so suffocating? This was his choice. And one night, under a moonlit sky, shivering in the forest outside the university, he decided to leave behind the person he was, forever. The change was brutal, but his packmates were good at keeping a young wolf under controlâor knowing when to lock him in the cellar, at least. Winn had enough grit for it, he figured. After all, it was a new lease on lifeâhell, most days, Winn was happy.Â
Unfortunately, it wouldnât last. Three perfect years ended in one drunken mistake. When Winn finally came to, he couldnât remember much. But the pack told Winn that theyâd found him with a silver dagger lodged deep in his chest, courtesy of the worst possible one night stand, a hunter. None of his packmates blamed Winn; they pulled every connection they had to cover the hunterâs death up, to protect their own. But while that asshole was nothing more than a stain on the frat house floor, Winn couldnât forgive himself. Heâd put his pack, his family, at risk.
That guilt was nearly the death of him. Winn stuck around long enough for graduation, then he ran. But without the support of the pack, Winnâs wolf left a trail of blood. Didnât matter whether they were hunters or just a âthreat.â Winn killed, again and again, all for the sake, he kept telling himself, of those who hadnât already bloodied their hands. It took time, and magic, to come back to himself. And even when he did, Winn ran again, this time to White Crestâwhere all things wicked come, eventually, to rest.Â
But you canât run forever, and, while it wasnât easy, Winn found a way to come to terms with all of it. No more running. No more magic. Winn wanted to learn from his mistakes, to try and atone, and, maybe, to finally let go of his guilt. After all, itâs never too late for an old dog to learn new tricks⌠Right?
Character Facts:
Personality: Genuine, curious, discreet, sentimental, discontented, obsessive, guilt-driven, undemanding, energetic, uninhibited
Winn is gay.
Though still getting the hang of having a social life, Winnâs been the on-and-off co-coach of the local boysâ hockey team, the White Crest Cryptids (âCrypteens,â as he likes to call them), since the beginning of the 2019-20 season. Theyâve been doing really well⌠and have learned to not question Winnâs long absences.
Winnâs father, Daniel, has kept tabs on Winn since Winn was little. Daniel finally reached out when Winn turned up in White Crest and the two have slowly built a foundation of trust. Itâs still a mystery to Winn what actually happened between Daniel and Winnâs mom, but Winn hasnât mustered up the courage to ask.
Winnâs relationship with his mother, Elaine, is best described as âfrosty,â and has been since Winn was turnedânot that she knows what caused her son to abandon all of her plans.
Owns a Giant Schnauzer named Dennyâshort for âPawsible Deniability,â named for Winnâs habit of taking him on long walks in the rain. (Winn says he was drunk when he wrote the name down and he was⌠but he genuinely thought the word was âpawsibleâ and not âplausible.â Donât ask him what he thought pawsible was supposed to mean.)
Since facing his past, heâs reached out to his former packmates, still technically is a part of their pack. They donât know all of what happened, but theyâve made it clear that they want him back in their lives, if he wants them back in his. Winnâs still trying to convince himself that he deserves their trust.

Dear Winn,
My heart is shattered. When I got the news, I thought that this couldnât be real. That it was some cruel joke. Maybe you had run off again, like you did before, but the longer I let it sink inâŚI felt it. I felt everything inside of me crashing and burning knowing that you werenât coming back. That you were just gone. Iâm so sorry we didnât get to spend another day together. To talk. To play the guitar. I still it have, by the way. My guitar. I havenât really picked it up since I found out. I just canât. Itâs too hard. Itâs like that sayingâŚthe day you died is the day the music died. I just feel so lost without your guidance. In such a short amount of time you gave me so much. Hell, you even bailed me out of jail, and you were going to give me my first real place to call my own. Now, I donât know what to do. Arianaâs moved out. Ulf lives in his new cabin. And me and Indy, weâre just still here at the trailer. Iâve gotta figure out how to get out of this place. Itâs like a memory of all the bad things that have happened. And itâs lonely. Frankie went back to be with her family. And most days I feel like I donât belong anywhere. Just me and Indy trying to survive. I miss you, Winn. And itâs not fair that in this bullshit fucked up town you canât come back. I hope that wherever you are, youâre at peace. And that I see you again someday in the great forest in the sky. I know we didnât know each other that long, but you made a difference in my life, and for that Iâll forever be grateful. I love you, Winn Woods. Listen for the heartbreaking howl tonight, because that will be me.
Your friend, Layla

Hockey Coach Shot Dead in the Outskirts
by staff | September 3, 2020
A man was shot and killed Thursday evening in White Crestâs Outskirts neighborhood, police said.
Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a reported shooting on Main Street, in front of the Main Street Arena. The victim was taken to White Crest General Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. Time of death is estimated to have been just before 5:00 p.m. While a full autopsy has not been performed, police have said it appears the victim was shot once in the heart. It is unlikely that he suffered.
The man has been identified as Winn Woods, 27, a counselor who had recently taken up private practice in White Crest. Mr. Woods coached the White Crest Cryptids in their most recent season. Woods is survived by his father, Daniel Woods.
Police have made no arrests in the shooting, and those living near the Arena reported no gunshots when interviewed.
