The plan for volume 0-1 was always to be the introduction of the other factions of kaijin in the series. With the main overarching plot being the Kaibreed and the other 2 (Necrophytes and Singularity) each getting their own 30+ page missions, but the flashbacks for those 2 are still over 80 incomplete pages away from publishing. And honestly, the squad not fighting them yet has bothered me for a hot minute because "enemy variety/factions" is one of the major pillars of the premise that made me want to do the series in the first place. So I’m sandwiching in a quick battle montage to finally “canonize” their encounters with other humanoids on screen. Because there’s dialogue I decided to make a separate “webtoons/tapas” version due to their dimension limits messing up double page spreads Also some bonus rando pages of finishers I wanted to use but didn't have space for in the story

These unfinished pages are from early drafts of the story-line that don't quite fit with where I'm headed with the plot (right now at least). These action set pieces are things I really wanted to do, and I didn't just want them to rot in my folders forever, nor did I want to just stick them in without them somehow adding something to the past or future of the timeline, so here they are.

Impulsive enough to be fearless, fun-loving to seek challenges, disciplined to learn, free spirited to adapt to problems, and loyal to prioritize the safety of those he cares about.

There’s a lot of lore in the series that falls under the category “stuff the characters already know and therefore won’t come up in conversation” and some other lore that falls under “Things I didn’t figure out until recently” . This one in particular is what character specific Psionic movesets are called the same way each chojin has a “Special affect”. I decided to call that “Focus”. Debuting this partial retcon with the "Focus" of kaijin mob boss Destoro "BADA BOOM". To be honest I couldn't nail down what his ability was until that wordplay clicked. Psychokinetic explosion are so brutally efficient and "fuck your gimmick" that it's perfect for an absolute threat of a presence ----------------------------------------- Psionic power has unlimited potential, but that also means it requires unlimited mental capacity to control that potential. So Mutazoa have an inherent process of developing a distinct method of controlling their abilities in an efficient distinct manner called a “focus”. (From a writing standpoint this prevents Psychic character from all fighting the exact same way and having every fight be decided by power levels) There are 2 major “limiters” a Focus has 1--- If it has unlimited range it has limited “influence” (what it can move) If it has unlimited influence it has limited range. 2--- It either affects a type of matter or mimics a type energy

Okay so that Epilogue I did with Johnny in the pilot is going to be an on going thing with a whole cast of characters that will explore the world from another perspective. -------------- There’s going to be a “B plot” throughout the series focusing on a ragtag strike squad composed of 12, 20 something year old loose cannons from different squads operating in the most dangerous city in the Continental US “Bassevalee”. I didn’t want the entire plot to be “human heroes are worthless without AUX’s team”, because series “leaving characters behind” is something that always left a bad taste in my mouth. So a goal with the narrative is giving everyone something to do and contribute to instead getting benched by power creep

And yep, I wanted it very obvious from the color motifs and "scarves" what the future plans for some of them are going forward.

When figuring out their abilities, I didn’t want to just go with the “Captain Planet checklist” of elements. I didn’t want any of them to feel over-specialized or underpowered. Every psionic flavor needed to feel versatile, practical, and open to exploration and development—each one offering its own answer to any problem (offense, defense, short- and long-range, traversal, utility, sensory). These abilities also had to reflect individual personalities and skill focuses: Shiv can turn anything into a high-frequency blade, while Balista can aim in any direction from any position. One more thing. To answer why Raid named his TESLA coil based attack after Thomas EDISON. Edison used Alternating current to kill en elephant to demonstrate how dangerous it was compared to his preferred Direct current.
