“Disturb is not the word I would use, no.”

“Okay so we plan to abduct all of our children and grandchildren who are in town, get Nathanael and Ornias on board with that plan, run, and then what? Most of them would just use their abilities to come right back here,” she wasn’t being sarcastic in her criticism. She genuinely wanted there to be a plan that could work here. Anything was preferable to being stuck here.

“Happy fathers day. Now, before we start let me say that I love you so much and that I wouldn’t want anyone else as my dad. That said, I decided you have enough nice things. So I only got your super embarrassing stuff this year. There’s a mug with several of your faces on it, and a t-shirt with a big collage of a bunch of ours. Then there’s a whole box of sad things designed to cater to fragile masculinity.”

“Happy Father’s Day.”

“More than I can really express actually, but quite a bit works.” the Claire teased as he smiled at the angel. The smile faded just a bit at the comfort he provided him, admitting “This was never something I thought I’d want to keep to myself… but with everything going on, and the circumstances, it’ll be nice to have someone to talk about it with.”

“It can be hard.” he offered sympathetically as he listened to her. He smiled, enjoying the brief honor, even if it was only in theory. His expression softened a bit at her next comment, sighing as he admitted “I try. Sometimes I think I don’t try hard enough though.”

“I thought after all this time I would be used to you.”

“Okay.. You’re right. It’s a pretty nice butt.”

The Claire nodded along as he silently processed the information, grateful for the privacy, and even more grateful for the support. “You really have no idea how much this means to me.” he offered, laughing gently at the other remark. “We can tell Gabe. She’s one of the few people I actually trust, and she’ll find out sooner rather than later anyway.”
