“Listen- I know that it’s the first real holiday you’ve gotten with Emma since the - uh, everything, but-“ you pause and flop down on your sofa, trying to calm your nerves before you look over at the coffee coloured eyes sitting in the chair off to the left. Wondering why this was so hard, when inviting the other three idiots had been a piece of cake. And Benny had begged for there to be cake, rum cake specifically. 

“I’m doing Thanksgiving, well more like Friend’s giving, and I wanted to invite you and Em. That way you didn’t have to cook.” You quickly added onto it. “The guys are coming too. Benny said something about asking a couple of the guys from the gym who weren’t going home for the holiday. Just food, some beers, games, the game.” Finally running out of steam, you shrug. “If you want to, of course.”

Frankie swallows, knowing that this year is hard for everyone but he’s excited to have Emma this year for the first time. He doesn’t hesitate to nod. “Yes. Yes. I- we will come” He smiles as he taps his fingers on his knee. He’s nervous to have Emma this year but adding in coming to yours for the holiday, his palms are sweaty. “Thanks for inviting me, hermosa.”

When you woke up the next morning, you expected to be on Marcus’ couch again, but instead you found yourself somewhere else. A warm weight around your waist quickly brought back the memories from the night before and you remembered that Marcus brought you into his bed. You shifted quietly so as to not wake him and you turned to study his sleeping face. His brown hair was a mess and his lips were parted to let soft snores out, and he had never looked more beautiful to you.

It was a soft moment you weren’t used to, and you weren’t sure how to handle it. You cared about him a lot for sure, but this was new for you. You never had someone special before and you never had anyone show you such affection and kindness. Marcus was definitely a kind person and a good man, that you knew from how he fought, but this was different. As he slowly let his guard down around you, he looked at you in a way no one else had before and it made your heart flutter in your chest.

A groan stirred you from your thoughts and Marcus blinked his eyes open to meet your gaze, “Morning,” he grumbled in a low voice, still groggy from sleep.

You gave him a soft smile, “Morning,” you replied in a whisper as you felt him tighten his grip on you.
