The Undeniable Talent of YEBBA
For my first post I wanted to talk about something special. Something that would inspire people and reach them in the very place that only extraordinary music and talent can. Yesterday, a single was released that reminded me of a  perfect topic; YEBBA.
Many people have never even heard of YEBBA. Many may know her as a voice they once heard featured on the radio and never knew how to find again. For those lucky few who not only know her name and her music, but also her story, life is just a little bit better. I remember vividly the first time my friend Connor showed me the video of her performing her song âMy Mindâ for Sofar in NYC. It proved to me that there are just some people placed on this planet to do one thing so incredibly well that every one else canât help but be enthralled by it.Â
Recorded a week before her mother died of suicide, the six minute long performance of the singers first original song is absolutely breathtaking. With a combination of heartbreaking emotion and impeccable runs, she manages to ensnare the heartstrings of the most unreachable souls. A true artist at heart, YEBBA has been quoted saying that, âMusic is the communication of my pain, if it ever feels like Iâm faking it, Iâll quit.âÂ
Yesterday, on her fifth Motherâs Day without her own mom, she released the audio from the performance on music streaming services to be downloaded and shared in a new way. One that many of my friends and I have been waiting for for almost 6 years. I implore you watch the performance, as well as the plethora of other unbelievable performances by her that exist on YouTube.Â
