British Airways welcomed air travellers to the UK with this massive painted image of Olympics star Jessica Ennis. It's 53 x 75m - larger than 15 tennis courts and 193 London buses - and took painters 600 litres of red, white and blue weatherproof paint and two days to finish.

We're not sure if maize mazes count as signage, but we like this agricultural image of Usain Bolt anyway.
