Also this year, on the 22nd of July OUT&ABROAD will join the Amsterdam Pride Walk, together with other Asian pride group, we will have the opportunity to show we are out there. During this event, members of OUT&ABROAD will march from Dam Square to Museumplein with many hundreds of other people. We will carry flags with the O&A logo, pride flags and homemade signs. After the walk there will be several you can attend freely at the Museumplein. Make friends and enjoy the pride.

At 10.30 we all of us will gather at Amsterdam Central Station, at the back of the station in front of the Starbucks! There will be someone there with an OUT&ABROAD flag, you will not be able to miss it! (Please, come in time, since the schedule is very tight this time).  Should you be late, let us know, you can still join us at the Dam Square where we will gather with all the other organizations. Joining early in time is preferred, so we will be properly prepared.

After gathering we are leaving the station at 10:45, we have to walk from Amsterdam Central Station to the Dam Square. If everything goes as planned we will be at the Dam Square at 11:00, where many other groups will have already gathered. We can walk around for a bit and find a place for our group. Should you be late, let us know, you can still join us at the Dam Square where we will gather with all the other organizations. Joining early in time is preferred, so we will be properly prepared.

At 12:00 the Pride Walk will start and together with many other LGBTQIA+ organizations, we will walk from Dam Square to Museumplein. During the walk, our members will carry flags and banners.

The Pride Walk is the moment to address issues related to the LGBTQIA+ community, before a week of partying and celebration starts. It is the moment for OUT&ABROAD to show how ourselves as an organization. This year we will walk with Gay Gams Hong Kong, CinimAsia and other Asian queer groups to show our Asian pride. At about 13:00, we should arrive at Museumplein, renamed Pride Park for the day. There at 13:30 the Amsterdam Pride will be officially opened and a week of celebration of diversity will start. This year, we will also have a Asian booths with Gay Games Hong Kong and other Asian organizations. There will be music and also a rainbow market at the Museumplein. We will have picnic there with other Asian queer friends. From 14:00 there is a variety of possibilities, including a badminton workshop by Pride&Sport and Gay Badminton. Have fun and enjoy the pride!

Dating in the Netherlands

Living in this country, sexual orientation and gender identity may not be a major issue for you, but have you encountered any challenges in the "dating market"? Have you encountered discrimination or even racism while dating? How do you deal with this?

Do you encounter difficulties in intercultural interaction? Are you limited to dating only Chinese people? How do you identify suitable partners and maintain intimate relationships? Ultimately, what do you need?

We believe that everyone has their own experiences, interesting stories, and challenges in intimate relationships. We would like to organize a series of community chat sessions to discuss strategies for dating and having a romantic relationship. PERC Summer Camp 2023: Calling for Chinese-Speaking LGBTQ+ Activists in Pan-Europe Application DDL：1st June 2023

Join us for the Pan Europe Rainbow Camp (PERC) in the Netherlands from August 4 to 7, and become part of a growing network of LGBTQ+ activists in Pan-Europe and around the world.

在聚会的第二部分，O&A也想邀请大家一起来讨论在2023年我们可以组织哪些有意思的活动，和大家一起创造更多的可能性。

Dear OUT&ABROAD Friends

Let's get back together and be "queer" at the beginning of the great 2023! 

OUT&ABROAD has invited Yanzi, a Chinese LGBTQ+ rights advocate who has recently relocated to the Netherlands, to share with you the story of his legal advocacy work for LGBTQ+ people in China and guide us through a quick review of the trajectory of the Chinese LGBTQ+ movement and the current development of the LGBTQ+ community in China. Yanzi, along with many public interest lawyers, has launched many significant litigations on LGBTQ+ rights issues in China over the last 9 years, bringing issues such as conversion therapy, workplace discrimination, and protection of same-sex couples to the attention of the Chinese mass public and legislators.

In the second half of the get-together, O&A would like to invite everyone to talk about what exciting events we can plan for 2023 and how we can all work together to make a great impact in our community .

OUT & ABROAD 将于本周六 1月16日 为大家带来 2021 年的第一场线上活动，活动的主题是一起来玩 Among Us！希望通过这个游戏能让大家结交到更多的朋友，并且给大家的生活带来一些新鲜和快乐。

游戏介绍

Among Us 是最近非常火爆的一款在线游戏，画风相当可爱，玩法上和狼人杀非常类似。游戏的场景是在一架宇航飞船上，每个玩家都知道自己的身份，是船员或者背叛者。在游戏中，船员要做的就是完成所有的任务要求或者找出那个背叛者并将他票决；背叛者获胜的条件就是杀死所有船员。

想要参加但是从来没玩过这个游戏？没有关系， Among Us 上手难度非常低，只需用到移动键和三个互动键，即使对狼人杀一窍不通也能很快上手。游戏本身是英语环境，欢迎大家在游戏内部使用中文／英文聊天交流。另外，游戏可容纳4－10人同时进行，我们主办方会根据参与人数开启多个游戏房间并且将大家分配到各个游戏房间里进行。

AMSTERDAM CANAL PARADE 2019!

Join us on August the 3th for the Amsterdam Canal Parade, the highlight of the Amsterdam Pride! During this day we will go see the boats, have joint dinner and perhaps go do some KTV together!

This year we meet at the station at 11:00 and we leave as soon as possible, at about 11:15 to find a good spot. It will be very very difficult to find it as the first people will be arriving to take the best places in the early hours of the day.

We are going to try our best and will try find a better place than we did last year!

Probably first trying around the Maritime Museum, since that is where the least amount of people are expected, later we can walk down the route and enjoy the crowds a bit.

12:30 the Canal Parade starts end at 17:00 most boats will have finished. We will make reservations at a Sichuan restaurant and so we can have a joint dinner around 17:30.  After dinner there is the possibility to have KTV in Amsterdam, from where you can have some fun and enjoy a few drink before going to the various parties that will be happening that day!

Please check the events calendar to see where the parties will be held, there is a wide variety between street parties, gaybars, clubs and cruising clubs. O&A is not organizing groups to attend any of the parties, this is on your own initiative. Also this year, on the 27th of July OUT&ABROAD will join the Amsterdam Pride Walk, together we will have the opportunity to show we are out there.  During this event, members of OUT&ABROAD will march from Homomonument to Vondelpark with many hundreds of other people. We will carry flags with the O&A logo, pride flags and homemade signs. After the walk there will be several you can attend freely, we end the day with dinner at a restaurant somewhere in town.

At 10.30 we all of us will gather at Amsterdam Central Station, in the hall near the piano. There will be someone there with an OUT&ABROAD flag, you will not be able to miss it! (Please, come in time, since the schedule is very tight this time). 

Should you be late, let us know, you can still join us at the homomonument where we will gather with all the other organizations. Joining early in time is preferred, so we will be properly prepared.

After gathering we walk to Westermarkt, leaving the station at 10:45, we have to walk from Amsterdam Central Station to the Homomonument. The monument consists of three pink triangles and you can see it at the canal. More information about the monument here. 

If everything goes as planned we will be at the monument at 11:00, where many other groups will have already gathered. We can walk around for a bit and find a place for our group. Should you be late, let us know, you can still join us at the homomonument where we will gather with all the other organizations. Joining early in time is preferred, so we will be properly prepared.

At 12:00 the Pride Walk will start and together with many other LGBTQIA+ organizations, we will walk from Homomonument to Vondelpark. During the walk, our members will carry flags and banners.

The Pride Walk is the moment to address issues related to the LGBTQIA+ community, before a week of partying and celebration starts. It is the moment for OUT&ABROAD to show how ourselves as an organization. This year we remember the anniversary of the Stone Wall riots and will try our best to convey the theme of this year ‘Remember the past, create the future’.

At about 13:00, we should arrive at Vondelpark, renamed Pride Park for the day. There at 13:30 the Amsterdam Pride will be officially opened and a week of celebration of diversity will start. There will be music and also a rainbow market(with mostly information booths).

From 13:30 there is a variety of possibilities, so it’s suggested finding some lunch or snacks. Also explore the information market at the Pride Park!

Monthly Meetup 13th of Juli 2019

Its that time of the year again, Amsterdam Pride start at the end of July and Rotterdam Pride in late September. OUT&ABROAD will be attending both, and we want to prepare! That is why we will be organizing a workshop where you can make your own amazing signs to carry around during pride! (or just hang in your bedroom)

Pride is not just a party! It’s a celebration of the rights we have now, which our community didn’t have in the past! It’s a fight, for the rights and protections that our community still does not have. We show we are here! We march with pride, for ourselves and those who cannot march with us! 

Aside from rainbow flags, face paint and amazing people such as yourselves - no pride walk is complete without signs and banners! That’s why we will organize a sign-making workshop this monthly meetup! We provide material, brushes and paint! You’re also free to bring your own!  During the workshop you’ll learn some of the basics about acrylic paints as well. So it will be slightly educational ;)

We will brainstorm ideas together before getting to work and we will make sure all the materials are there(if you want anything in particular, please ask ahead of time). Drinks and snacks will be available at the workshop!  Besides the workshop, there is the possibility to sit around and chill with some music or play board games. Meet new people and perhaps a joint dinner later that day.

The meet up shall be held at The Hang-out 010 in Rotterdam, doors will be open at 14:00 and we will open til about around 18:00. The workshop will be open to LGBTQIA+, but you can invite a friend if you like, but please let us know so we know how many people are coming. MONTHLY MEETUP - OUT&ABROAD at THE HAGUE PRIDE WALK

Usually, we always organize our Monthly Meetups in Rotterdam, every second Saturday of the Month. This time it yet again coincides with the Rainbow Festival in the Hague! So we will move our activity there!

The Hague Rainbow Festival is a pride festival, hey in the city of The Hague and is held on the Saturday the 8th of June and Sunday the 9th.

PRIDE WALK OUT&ABROAD is going to take part in the Pride Walk, we will gather in front of Starbucks at Den Haag Centraal Station at 13.00 at 13:20 we will walk towards the park opposite the station where all others are gathering for the Pride Walk. For the pride walk we will have rainbow flags available, as well as OUT&ABROAD flags. You are also encouraged to make and take signs or banners of your own!

The pride walk is the moment we can all ask for more attention to sexual- and gender diversity. To increase visibility of lesbian, homosexual, bisexual and transgenders in the city. While marching through the city with hundreds of others!

At about 14:30 the walk will start its route at the Homomonument, from where we will all walk through the city and where it will end at Grote Markt at 16:30. When everyone has arrive at the Grote Markt, the Hague Rainbow Festival will be opened at 17:00 — festivities will take until late at night. You’ll have time to enjoy the events taking place.

The group will still discuss and organize a joint dinner around 18:00 or 18:30 somewhere in The Hague. Afterwards people can go their own way, this is where OUT&ABROAD will stop to organize the evening.

OUT&ABROAD is looking for volunteers!

OUT&ABROAD has been around since November 2016! We have had many passionate people help us out over the last few years and together we have organized over 50 activities! You can help us to keep going, by becoming a volunteer. Should you want to help, please read the following post and fill out the form via the link at the end of this post.

About us

OUT&ABROAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to LGBTI Chinese and Chinese diasporas living in the Netherlands. It aims to help the community through creating a social platform for them and using different kinds of activism to promote social change.

During the past few years, we have participated in numerous Pride walks across the Netherlands. We are also organizing various educational and social activities, including monthly meet-ups, Dutch classes, Rainbow party, movie nights, museum visits, to name but a few.

 We hope you are:

Interested and passionate for LGBT and related topics;

Able to invest a set amount of time in their department and attend meetings in the coming 6 months;We are looking for people with certain skills and qualities to support these new departments. In return we cannot offer payment, at first we can organize workshops, trainings and certifications. We offer a way to connect to our amazing community! If all goes well, we can reimburse costs to make volunteering easier. We rely completely on volunteers and their goodwill. However, we also require all volunteers to invest a set amount of time in their department and attend meetings to keep OUT&ABROAD.

Please note that the following descriptions aren’t set in stone and are rather meant to give an impression or what we are looking for. It is okay if you fit one or multiple of the following departments.

 SOCIAL MEDIA OUT&ABROAD is looking for volunteers who want to join our social media department. We are looking for people for the following tasks:

- Content generation and management Thinking up and creating content, attracting content creators, in written form, video or photography. Content we are considering is about or for the Chinese LGBT community.

- Graphic Design Creating designs for the organization, both for online and offline use. Think of posters, graphics and illustrations.

- Maintenance Posting content to social media and maintaining our; Tumblr(website), Instagram, Facebook, WeChat, WeiBo and Twitter.

EVENTS

We are looking for people who want to organize events and activities that resonate with our community. You will have the opportunity to realize your own ideas and part will be the continuation of existing events;

Monthly meet ups

Dutch classes

Attending the prides in The Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.- Organizing interactive presentations and talks with the Chinese community in the Netherlands. Talking with them and discussing subjects related to the LGBT+ community. For this we will require people are willing to talk to strangers about these issues. We are looking for both Cantonese speakers and Mandarin speakers, as well as people with some skill in Dutch.

The events team will be working closely with our Public Relations team; finding ways to involve Dutch organizations; Roze in Blauw, IND, GGD, museums etc. As well as international organizations such as CRN, PFlag, Taiwan Tongzhi Hotline Association and similar organizations. Finding a balance between fun, educational and events focusing on integration or health.

COMMUNITY

OUT&ABROAD is a community, to find out what is going on in the community we want to have a dedicated team of people, sort of like ‘Administrators’ or ‘Moderators’. The team will be tasked with making sure that we have a healthy online community. Also being involved in the community and with the team of volunteers. Providing valuable feedback to finetune events and articles.  As well as discussing certain topics in our groups.

- Catalyzing The community team will be tasked with finding topics to discuss on WeChat and other social media an create a buzz, but mostly to see how certain topics are perceived by our community so we can better finetune our other activities as an organization. This can be about news or relevant topics. The point is to encourage activity in the group and on social media, discussions can be used for articles, for example, aimed at fact checking and myth busting.

- Activism We are looking for a few people who want to start an OUT&ABROAD group focusing on LGBT+ activism. It has been our experience that LGBT+ activism is difficult, but it is something we want to encourage in order to progress as an organization and as a community. To better ourselves and to help create more understanding and acceptance among others.

每月聚会活动

荷兰语课程

参加海牙、阿姆斯特丹和鹿特丹的骄傲节（Prides）

为在荷兰的华人举办演讲，组织与在荷华人的谈话活动。为此我们需要寻求愿意与陌生人探讨LGBT相关问题的人。我们既寻求粤语使用者、也寻求普通话使用者，还需要有一定荷兰语技能的人。

 活动组织与策划部门需要与我们的公共关系团队紧密合作，寻求让荷兰的政府组织、社会组织参与、支持我们的活动，具体包括Roze in Blauw（Pink in Blue，荷兰的公益组织，以减少针对LGBT的性暴力和帮助性暴力受害者为主要目标）、IND（移民局）、GGD（公共卫生服务协会）、各个博物馆等。本部门也需要与荷兰外的社会组织、公益组织进行互动交流，具体包括CRN（北美华人彩虹联盟）、PFlag（同性恋亲友会）、台湾同志咨询热线协会，以及其他的类似组织。组织的活动时需要兼顾趣味性、有趣和教育意义。活动的焦点话题是、社会融入和健康问题。

 社群工作

Out & Abroad是一个社群，通过线上和线下活动联结了众多的在荷华人同志。为了了解社群动态，我们想组建一个专门的团队，做类似于 “社群管理员” 和 “版主” 的工作。本团队的主要任务是维护线上社群的健康运行。本团队也会与广义上的在荷华人同志社群交流。本团队需要收集社群中的反馈，以便我们对活动和文章进行优化。另外，本团队也需要与志愿者队伍进行沟通，并参与我们的管理群讨论。

- 开启和追踪社群对焦点话题的讨论

我们的社群团队需要寻找焦点话题，在微信公众平台和其他社交媒体平台上发表可以引起讨论的文章。不过，大多数时候，团队的主要任务是追踪社群对一些热点问题的看法和态度，以便于设计和优化我们组织的活动。焦点话题可以是新闻或者其他的同志相关议题。这项工作的目的是鼓励和促进讨论，增强管理群和社交平台的活跃性。讨论的内容可以用于文章的创作，例如创作以科普、辟谣、破除误区为目标的文章。

- 社会行动

我们想寻求几个有意愿组建Out & Abroad社会行动团队的人，工作焦点是LGBT+社会行动（Activism）。从我们的经验来看，LGBT+社会行动很难，但是这是我们想鼓励的事业，因为它能促进我们作为组织和社群的进步和发展。我们想成就更好的自己，也想促进他人对LGBT社群的理解和接纳。

2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

This year OUT&ABROAD celebrates its 2-year anniversary with another special event. If you play your cards right, you might not be spending 11.11 alone! During this event you will get to know all the other participants, making friends or perhaps finding that special someone!

Our activities start Saturday, November 10th at 14:00 and will take until 18:00, with the possibility to stay for dinner and chill til 22:00. There will be lots of parties in Rotterdam this evening, starting around this time.

We meet at 14:00 at the Hang-Out010 and when everyone has arrived we will start an afternoon full of activities and games, aimed at getting to know new people. During the activities we will keep everyone’s scores and in the end two winners will be selected. Two winners will receive 1 cinema gift card each! Perhaps with more prizes.

Want to find that special someone or just get a chance at winning that gift card? Join our activities’ WeChat group and remember to fill out the registration form, without filling out the form you cannot participate in the event.  

During the afternoon we will have snacks and drinks and after the activities, there will be dinner! Participation, food and drinks will be free! However, you’re free to leave a donation if you like our activities and events. Our monthly meet up will be held about 10 minutes walking distance from Rotterdam Central Station. Easiest way to get there is by walking from the station.

This event is open to LGBTQIA+ only. This event will be hosted in English and Mandarin Chinese.

On the 20th of October OUT&ABROAD will pay a visit to the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven! The largest design event in Northern Europe presents work and concepts from more than 2600 designers to more than 335000 visitors from home and abroad.

12:00 Meet-up at Eindhoven Station, at the centrum-side. Grab a coffee and something to eat before we go into the city. We will visit the Dutch Design Week on the first day. There is a lot to see, too much to fit in 1 day. So we will have to make some choices. Among other things, there are the following places;

Design Academy Eindhoven’s Graduation Expo The Graduation Show 2018 will be the first edition in almost two decades to take place outside the walls of Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE). This move to a venue on the site of the historic Campina Milk Factory reflects a major shift in the public’s perception of design and the role of DAE. G18 presents no less than 208 projects by 185 graduates, emerging the visitor in this inquisitive environment where design is constantly being redesigned. 

There is a chance to shop, lunch and enjoy more at Strijp-S Strijp-S used to be full of industry, the buildings now remain, but their functions are no longer the same. Most now host small creative businesses and during the DDW, many of them exhibit their work.

Most large (international)businesses have exhibitions are Klokgebouw(above), these exhibitions ofter show the most innovative designs and technologies currently around. There is a (rather pricey)restaurant here too.

Vershal het Veem, used to be a storage depot, nowadays a hall where all kinds of fresh food is sold. For Dutch design week will have some amazing smaller designers and collectives showing their work last year and it features the Dutch Design Awards as well. As well as little businesses selling snacks, food and drinks. Strijp offers so much, I cannot put it to words here.

Hallenweg is a little creative hub, hidden away a bit outside the city center. The street used to be just warehouses, not they house designers and artists. Even if you cannot afford anything, definitely worth a visit. 

Next to Hallenweg is a little church, today home to AtelierNL a design company that works from experimentation and lots and lots of research. Collecting and analyzing local clays and sands, making table wear of them in ceramics and glass. Even collecting sands from around the world to attempt to make glass out of them.

Sectie-C is again a former industrial area, now home to designers mainly doing more experimental designing. There is also music, food and drinks in this area, its on the other side of town, from Strijp-S. There a loads of other places like, Design Perron, NUL ZES, V3RS and many many more! 

Transportation

1. Make sure to arrive at 12:00 at Eindhoven, central station. Make sure to check NS.nl ahead of time for any delays. Plan your route on the planner either http://ns.nl/ or http://9292.nl/

2. During the day we will walk a lot and for the longers distances, we will call the free Designer Rides, this year they're Electrical cars provided by renault. These are free. 3. There are other options, but theyre too difficult to organise with a group.

This year we have attended The Hague Rainbow Festival, Roze Zaterdag Gouda, Amsterdam Pride and lastly, this September we will attend the Rotterdam Pride!

Rotterdam OUT&ABROAD’s home. Our very first activities were held in this city and still, most of our activities are held in Rotterdam! Every second Saturday we a meetup as well as Dutch Classes and every second Saturday and last Saturday of the month. So it wouldn’t be more than normal for us to show our face and participate during this year’s Rotterdam Pride. OUT&ABROAD will only organize activities only on Saturday, 29th of September. This day OUT&ABROAD is going to attend the Rotterdam Pride Walk! We hope you will join us too, so mark your calendars, invite your friends and come join us! Join the pride festival and the party deep into the night!

Schedule on 29 September [UPDATED 12:00 27/09/2018]

11:15 We will Meet at leuvehoofd, we will have until 11:45 to sort ourselves. Nearby bus/tram/metro is Leuvehaven. 

Leuvehoofd is the area near the Erasmus Bridge(As marked blue in the image). You can recognize us by our O&A flags. 

Please do everything you can to arrive before 11:45. Bert will be there from 11:00 to sign in and pick up bracelets for those participating and without bracelets, security might have a slight panic attack.

12:00 The PrideWalk Rotterdam will start at Leuvehoofd, near the Erasmus Bridge. The exact route of the walk is still rather unclear, the walk will probably go through the city, ending at Shouwburgplein.

During the walk, we will carry signs, rainbow flags and OUT&ABROAD flags. You can chat with each other and meet new people! Besides OUT&ABROAD there will be hundreds of other people participating as well! We will be joined by various student organizations from Rotterdam, Delft, the Hague and Leiden.  13:00 The Pride Festival will start at Schouwburgplein. Different from Amsterdam, the walk in Rotterdam will end in the city center, giving everyone the chance to eat something on their own.

Join the festivities on the square! Come take pictures at our photo booth!  There should be plenty to do, good music, fun people and entertainers :D You can even dye your hair somewhere! At like 16:00 we can figure out where to go for dinner together. :)

WANT TO JOIN US? 

OUT&ABROAD is very proud to announce we will start free Dutch language courses. We will do our best to provide a good learning environment for all levels of proficiency. The classes are meant to support those who are already having classes elsewhere or to help those who are still beginners to become more fluent. Initially, these courses will explore troubles people are having flowing into teaching the actual Dutch language course. Participants will also learn about Dutch culture during these courses.

The courses are free and open to LGBTI+ and LGBTI-friendly people from groups and organizations using The Hang-Out010 in Rotterdam, who want to improve their Dutch language skills. This also means, you’re not required to buy any method or books, all relevant materials will be provided when attending the courses.

AMSTERDAM CANAL PARADE 2018!

Join us on August the 4th for the Amsterdam Canal Parade, the highlight of the Amsterdam Pride! During this day we will go see the boats, have joint dinner and perhaps go do some KTV together!

This year we meet at the station at 11:00 and we leave as soon as possible, at about 11:15 to find a good spot. It will be very very difficult to find it as the first people will be arriving to take the best places in the early hours of the day.

We are going to try our best and will try find a better place than we did last year!

Probably first trying around the Maritime Museum, since that is where the least amount of people are expected, later we can walk down the route and enjoy the crowds a bit.

12:30 the Canal Parade starts and at 17:00 most boats will have finished. We will make reservations at a restaurant we will have to pick beforehand and so we can have a joint dinner around 17:30. After dinner there is the possibility to have KTV in Amsterdam, from where you can have some fun and enjoy a few drink before going to the various parties that will be happening that day!

O&A is not organising groups to attend any of the parties, this is on your own initiative.
