Dill is a biennial herb that grows for 2 years. In cold climates it is grown as an annual and in warm climates it is self seeding and will grow new plants year after year. Dill can be grown in 10 out of the 13 plant Zones. One myth about dill is that it can not be grown indoor but it can. In the garden dill can be use as a bug repellent when planted as a companion plant, and can even repel deers. We almost thought this Fig tree was a goner, but it has new little buds on it. Iโm not sure how well a baby fig tree will grow outdoor in Seattle, but since itโs here and the people who lived here before us planted it in the ground, we will try to keep it alive.
Fall is in full swing my friends and that means that some of our tomatoes didnโt have time to ripen. This may sound like a bad thing, but it is actually exciting. Why, because we get to make fried green tomatoes! Green Tomatoes are prefect for frying because they are crispy, tangy, and wonโt get soggy. If your garden has gifted you with green tomatoes or your local grocer has then you have to try this delicious recipe. If you would like to try this recipe click the link below

We are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our middle child who has been pledged with an illness that has been threatening to become chronic for two months now has started to recover. We are almost out of the woods and overjoyed. Our other children have also recovered from two back-to-back colds, and a new allergy we didnโt know one of them developed. Itโs been hard but November is looking bright. I made this little bubble light pumpkin out of UV resin to make the children feel better. With some help from the sun, it cured, and I think it came out pretty good. Everyone wants me to make more of them and I might make one or two more before moving on to plaster pumpkins. (They may say UV resin is not toxic, but the smell makes me disagree.) The pumpkin brought smiles to their faces, and they take turns keeping it in their rooms. To anyone else going through hard times out there, you got this, things will turn around soon youโll see, and when it does itโs going to be awesome! Also donโt forget to find things to look forward to everyday even if it is just a little bubble pumpkin as long as it makes you smile and have hope thatโs all that matters.
This month has been pretty hard on us. It seems like if something was going to go wrong it did. As we take hit after hit we are reminded that life is a lot like our pumpkin decoration with the broken pumpkin plant inside. You have to find a way to smile through the pain and know that one day things will get better. Besides if you never have any bad times how would you know when the good times are and really appreciate them. Hang in there if things arenโt going well, find something that makes you happy and try to do it everyday. Gardening is a good way to find peace and happiness. Being out in nature, taking care of another living thing, and watching the seeds you planted grow. If itโs too cold to garden outside you can always garden inside. I will be back to posting everyday once things settle down, until then I will try to sprinkle in some post and updates when I can. The sun will shine again friends so keep your chins up, good days are coming!
Oh we have some more Jack Be Little mini pumpkin flowers! Hopefully it stay cool enough for them to actual grow this time. I donโt think they will be ready for Halloween but thereโs always Thanksgiving.
Dried out some yellow carnation for some fall decorations. I like to decorate for fall and Halloween at the same time so that we are ready for all of the holidays from October to November. I just love this red, orange, and yellow colorful season all of the pumpkins, apples, corn, and leaves.

Missing these white little flowers in the house. Snowbank white blackberries are a rare breed of blackberries invented in 1916. Fun fact they arenโt actually white their skin is actually transparent. This gives them a white look because you can see the fruits flesh inside.
The aloe vera plants pups are getting bigger. There are so many of them we arenโt sure what we will do with them when it comes time to transplant all of them. Maybe a cute multi planter or window box, because they need to stay indoors for the winter. For now they are going in larger parts and the one that separated are going in itโs own pots.
This is a rare Fazuli Blue Pepper plant. Even though it is still very young you can see the royal purple coloring on its leaves. The peppers turn from tyrian purple to red and are spicy.
Finally got a cute little bell pepper flower on the mini bell pepper plant. These should be mini chocolate bell peppers. We are growing different verities of chocolate peppers this season both sweet and spicy.
Strawberry dipped peanut butter cake doughnut started when they children wanted doughnuts but not too sweet and not deep fried. We decided to make cake doughnuts and dipped them homemade strawberry glaze made with fresh strawberries for dipping. These little cuties are Top Hat Tomato flower buds. Top Hat Tomato plants are miniature/dwarf tomato plant that can be grown in small spaces. The smaller the pot you plant them in the smaller they will grow while still producing fruit. If you plant them in a bigger space they will get bigger but still be smaller than your average tomato plant. Over the years we have grown them in small and medium pots as well as outside in raised beds as well as in the ground. They can grow in a range for 6in/15cm to 12in30cm although we have had some get to 2ft/60cm tall. You can always trim them back if they get to tall to fit your space.
The Rose bush is recovering nice, it now has new buds and no spots. Pruning and air circulation is very important to roses. I posted a before photo and video a few weeks back where the leaves all had black spots on them due to lack of pruning and over mulching. This rose bush is now happy and healthy and we look forward to the write roses that will bloom soon. If you would like to see this video and more click the YouTube link below
