I decided to make this blog so people can share their experiences with being boyflux, and it's inspired by the tons of different queer experience blogs out there.

A note on trigger/content warnings and vent asks: While I will allow vents and will tag any sensitive content accordingly, I advise askers to refrain from being overly graphic in their asks and to not reveal their personal information. I won't post any asks that I deem to be graphic/revealing on a case by case basis. As for advice, I struggle with empathy sometimes and it makes it difficult to give good advice or comfort, so if there isn't much added to vents I apologize in advance.

DISCLAIMER: Recently I have noticed that my gender hasn’t fluctuated in a while, and due to this I no longer identify as boyflux because it doesn’t accurately describe my gender anymore. I feel much more comfortable identifying as a binary trans man. I’m going to keep this blog up and running though! Identifying as boyflux was still an important part of my gender journey and I want to continue posting so maybe someone else can find the label and feel comfortable in it :)

Is wearing a binder for 9 h very bad, cause that's my minimum school time..

Hmm well it’s definitely not great for you. Binding for too long can cause a lot of short- and long-term health issues. You can bruise or even fracture your ribs, hurt your back, and irritate your skin. Plus even if you don’t really care about all of that (which you should, but I definitely understand if the dysphoria feels more important than your health and safety), binding for too long too often can affect your skin elasticity and negatively affect your top surgery results in the future if that’s something you want to pursue. I had two jobs for a few months and would wear my binder every day for 10-12 hours sometimes (wear it for 9 hours for my first shift, take a 1 hour binding break at home, then wear it again for a 3 hour shift) and I still get random aches and pains even though I don’t bind anymore.

There are some alternatives to binding though! Trans tape or kt tape work really well for some people. It tends to work better if you and/or your chest are on the smaller side, but I’m a double D cup and about 220 lbs and I can get a really masculine looking chest from using trans tape. You can also either wear a sports bra for the whole day or bring one to change into at school when you reach the 8 hour mark. Depending on the size of your chest it can be a bit harder to hide it with just a sports bra but if you get a little creative with your outfits you can distract from it! I don’t bind or wear a sports bra anymore and now that it’s summer where I live and wearing oversized sweaters and hoodies isn’t comfortable anymore I wear oversized or boxy fit t-shirts (boxy t-shirts are your best friend, I swear by them) with an oversized short sleeved button up on top to obscure my chest a bit more and no one pays attention to it.

like I'm not very sure if I'm boyflux or I just don't really want to be hyper specific about my gender but it's so frustrating with how confusing it is and this is why until I'm sure, I just say "genderqueer" 😭 lawddd let me figure it out!!!! I've been trying to figure this out for YEARS

Hello folks! Today a friend of mine informed me of an ongoing recall of testosterone gel 1%. Fortunately, I’m on the 1.62% concentration, but I wanted to make a post about it since I’ve found very little information on it outside of the FDA website.

The recall applies to testosterone gel 1% packets distributed by Strides Pharma Inc. Both the 2.5 gram packets and the 5 gram packets are affected. The medication is being recalled due to the presence of benzene, a known carcinogen.

If you’re unsure about whether your testosterone gel is affected by the recall, I recommend calling the pharmacy you got the medication from and asking them about the recall and if your medication was affected by it.

It’s definitely okay!! You don’t ever need to know or specify what gender you are or how “boy” you are at any moment. Personally, I think of my gender in percentages, with 0% being agender/butch and 100% being very very binary man. Those extremes are the ones I feel the strongest and I barely even notice the levels between those two peaks, nor do I care enough to differentiate between them. Some people track the way their gender fluctuates, but you definitely don’t have to! You can do whatever you want forever and you don’t have to justify it to anyone!
