Hope for mankind

The vixen smiled as the bird leaned down, Lily petting his head happily. 

While amazed at first, it quickly turned into shock as he blinked more than once. Did she just create life out of nothing but ice? He wasn't sure if it was right of him to question it, so instead he moves in closer. A hand reaching out towards the bird, only momentarily glancing at the vixen questioningly, "can I...?"

          “There you are!” Maria smiles in greeting as Shadow enters, the soft hiss of the automatic door signalling his arrival. She’s seated on her knees on her bedroom floor with books—mostly filled with pictures—strewn about in front of her. “I was afraid that Grandfather might keep you all day. How did your examination go?”

    The Ultimate lifeforms steps were slow upon coming across the familiar door. It was late, but sure enough, he knew Maria well enough that she would still be up at this hour. As the door hisses open, there was a moment of hesitation, but his ruby eyes lighten instantly upon recognition of Maria up and awake. He is quick to join her on his knees just across from her. A smile gracing his own face now as he quickly takes a glance down at the books spread on the floor separating them. "It went....good, I think. The professor seemed awfully happy about something, I think that's why he kept me longer than usual." Again his eyes were curiously looking over the books, quickly changing the subject, "what are you doing?"

"No…s-sorry…"

"No...I should be sorry. I can't help you...I really wish I can. Are you from Earth? This worlds Earth? Do you know? I can't tell..."

"I remember b-being home… and a fl-flash of light…" Perhaps he had accidentally used Chaos Control? But that took him to places, not time jumps. Usually anyway.

"Hmmm...do you remember anything else? Anything at all?"

"I kind of got turned around. This place is so big I got lost."

"I still get lost myself, don't worry about it. I'm sure someone could help you if you looked around some more."

 ”Of course it won’t blow up! It’s just snow!” The vixen giggled a bit to the Shadow alternate. “You wanna see something even cooler?” She asked, smiling to him. 

He had prepared himself to back away, but upon her reassurance that it would not blow up, he takes a step closer instead. Almost nodding in some careful excitement to the question asked next. "Sure, why not?" 

Sunny’s voice was soft as he looked at the other, not wanting to give him a headache by accident.

His next words were muffled, "m'fine, use to it."

Hopefully.

"I want to help, really. Do you remember anything before you came here?" He knew that there probably wasn't much he could do from here, but he would do what he could. 

"Ever heard of a mutli-verse?" Sonic chuckled. Considering the freak out Shadow had upon just saying his name, Sonic took a bit more caution with his words. "It’s kinda hard to explain but basically, there’s other versions of you that I’ve run into,"

"...I understand, as much as I want to say it's impossible," is his quiet, almost inaudible reply, a small smile making its way on his face, almost looking playful, but that couldn't be normal of a Shadow, could it?  "But I suppose I can't deny your explanation either hm? Weird people have been showing up here as of late anyways."

"Wh-what?!" How the hell did he get back here?! And… 50 years in the past?! He groaned and rubbed his temples as he felt a headache start to form. ‘This is so not good…’

"I'm guessing that you don't know how you got here." Gee, this sounded like the beginning of one of those sci-fi movies the professor was watching the other night.

"A-a-and where is s-s-said lab?" Shadow? Another alternate, no doubt. But that didn’t explain how he got here. Did he accidentally use Chaos control?

"The ARK? Space Colony ARK?" Looking baffled, how would one not know where they were? Sure it was easy to get lost on the space station, but... accidentally following a map all the way up in space. Even he knew that's not how things worked. Something else might have happened for this strange occurrence. 

"Of course I know what I’m doing, it’s my powers." The vixen smiled to the other as she played with the snowflakes in hand. 

His eyes stare as her hand worked with the snowflakes, and having not ever seen snow, was mesmerized by it. But of course, being used to scientific experimentation, anything could happen. "It's not going to blow up is it?"
