Indulgent Russel Imagines (Ice Skating)
A/N : this is extremely indulgent ye bewarned :3c
going to the nearest ice rink with you, Russel wasn't exactly the face of confidence; sure, the rows of couples and families waiting in line to enter the rink and go ahead and skate didn't intimidate him much; concerts have more or less slightly reduced his anxiety at being seen in public, however, he was worried about one thing;
would he make a fool of himself on the rink?
of course not, he thought. He had never skated on ice in his life, sure, but so are many of the people coming to the rink. Tumbling down, slipping when skating too fast, people losing their balance and crashing into each other; all incredibly common occurrences on public ice rinks. if he were to fall, perhaps, or lose his balance, nobody would bat an eye.
but, he was here with you! and he wanted to make a lasting impression, a good lasting impression.
when he finally on the ice, he tried to teach himself to skate slowly by copying the movements of other people, specifically those who were just gliding on the ice, going at fast speeds whilst maintaining elegance, posture, and most importantly, not hitting anyone!
he starts of shaky. who wouldn't?
one hand holding on to the short barrier of the rink, he glides one foot forward. nearly he tumbles down, the ice incredibly slippery. he isn't used to this at all... but, you only live once, why not try to learn something new. another foot glides forward, one hand holding the barrier for dear life, and he jolts forward yet again.
Russel sighs in his head. it's going to take a bit before he can even move forward without suddenly jerking forward.
you took a little while to get on the ice- a combination of your ice skates being too big then having your foot getting stuck while trying to wear them made you took a little while to be able to enter the ice.
Russel, seeing you, lost his grip somewhat, attempting to maneuver his body to you. finally! someone who, in his mind, knows what they're doing while on the ice. he slowly slides forward, one foot at a time, in order to reach you.
finally reaching you with wobbly strokes, he wrapped one arm around yours, and with a less than confident voice, quietly said, "I think- I think I haven't fully grasped this concept of skatin' on ice just yet, baby," a comedic lilt at the end of his words. "Surely I'd be doing a whole lot better if I had someone helping me out..."
getting his hint, you give him a small giggle, amused by his words, and keeping balance, you and him slowly start to skate together, hands linked together still.
Russel made a good impression on his love, he didn't exactly embarrass himself on the ice, and his lover was thoroughly enjoying their time with him?
he couldn't ask for a better date.
