imagine the chaos of the madwheeler duo running rampant in vecnas mind.

imagine that right as tensions are highest, they stumble into another memory and max finds out that mikes big secret is that hes in love with will. and he expects her to berate him. to yell at him, say she just knew there was something wrong with him, but of course she doesn't. she just hugs him and tells him its okay. and he's so caught off guard that he doesn't even react at first, but then piece by piece he just starts to break down and cry into her shoulder, because its such a relief to finally just admit it to someone, and the fact that max, someone who isnt very fond of him on a good day, still accepts him honestly just makes her the perfect person to admit it to.

It should’ve been a vulnerable moment between Will and the people HE KNOWS. Not friends, family + randoms (Steve, Nancy, Murray, Kali, Vickie - they’re not close with Will)

the ads in that speech. I mentioned this elsewhere but he name-dropped brands like coke, pop rocks, milk duds and lucky charms in his ‘just like anyone else’ part of the speech. Excuse me?? Blatant bandwagon tactic. Not the time, not the place, that was the most inappropriate marketing. They had a Coke moment for RoVickie just a few episodes prior and that wasn’t enough ?

he shoves down his ‘crush’. The crush that he wanted to know how to date, not kiss. The avalanche. But now it’s just a crush who is apparently his Tammy (not that anyone in the room aside from Robin, Steve and maybe Vickie understood)

they should’ve had time to talk about it. Let El ask why it was even a big deal to be different that way, let Lucas and Max comfort Will together, let Dustin and Steve bicker about how best to congratulate him on being so brave, let Mike say ANYTHING aside from ‘me too’

this, I feel, should’ve been one of the biggest Byers brothers moments. Jonathan knew Will was struggling with something and he knew how their dad treated Will for being different. The scene was too short and impersonal

’i don’t like girls’ was a direct reference to “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” so why have Mike sit there in guilty silence (if that is what they were trying to convey. Maybe it wasn’t.)
