Hiroshi Nagai's paintings need sunglasses to look at.

They look like how it feels to walk across a parking lot on a 98° summer day without a speck of shade in sight.

They look like heaven but also like you'd burn your bare feet on the ground.

Even when you can see shade you know it's not enough and the minute you step out you'll be burnt to a crisp like a vampire.

And it's BEAUTIFUL

Song for December: Survival by America

~~~ For December I decided to pay homage to Edmund Blair Leighton's painting Accolade, as depicting the act of knighting felt like a nice conclusion to the sword-wielding Lubis I've drawn in the past few months (which are referenced in the stained-glass windows). I also really wanted to make a retro pixel piece, and I chose to stick with the CGA palette as seen in my beloved, the original King's Quest 3.

And thus the third year of my monthly experimentals is done. I'm glad I decided to stick with it in 2024, as I made some of my favourite pieces in a long time within this project. I'm really looking forward to seeing where my art takes me next year ❤️
