Staying Strong: Strengths of the Osa
As we have said before, Osa Peninsula can be described in one word: Biodiverse. Its biodiversity is the greatest strength of this Costa Rican region. You can see wild creatures left and right! In order for animals and wildlife to live a healthy life, we must be active and help conserve their homes and habitats. People in the community have already started! Geospatial educator, Amy taught the community to use technologies such as GIS and GPS to assist them in projects in efforts to conserve the environment and to teach others about the Osa. The introduction of these technologies have been another huge strength of this region.Â
Facebook and the use of other social media have also been a strength of this region. They are used to market or tell others about what is going on, mainly all the cool projects that are happening in the community. One last strength is the attitude of the community. They have been very supportive of all the projects going on and have been very involved in them. If you continue to look through this page, you can even see the painted trashcans the locals have painted and even the cool things that they have made with the trash they collected from the environment!
