After the drama Legend of Ruyi, a new edition of the novel was also released and some scenes were edited to make it more like the drama. The part where Yong Lian dies in the novel has also been changed to reflect how it would have happened in the drama if the drama wasn’t cut up and stitched back together. Someone actually translated that part into Vietnamese and here I am translating it into English for those who might want to read it, because you get so much more of morally ambiguous Hailan calmly plotting murder in prose than you do in the drama. Also featuring Yuyan stirring the pot. (There is some cutting of rambly bits.)
