Kraken

I had no idea! I just bought him years ago, because he was close enough to a low-key bright dragon I was after. I have a lad (who is, weirdly, a Tundra) who is Caribbean/Purple/Teal, so I was always a bit ‘hmmm’ about the Obsidian tertiary. It was tough to work with! 

Then the Ancients spurred me to let go of some dragons I wasn’t doing anything with and the planets aligned! c: <3

Lydo is Carib/Purple/Obs, (#CLOSEENOUGH) but I was in AH 3 times today and I don’t think HE WAS THERE WHEN I LOOKED BEFORE. I mean I joked with myself today like “Yeah sure I’ll totally make a Lydo… if I can find a g1 version of him…” So. With current genes, one of these combos. :T

I listed him when I was downsizing my lair – I’m glad it was you who bought him! c:

I’m really glad I never breed my Gen Ones, now!

I think the ones I put up for sale at the same time have only just expired, so he wasn’t up long before you snapped him up! I’m so glad it was you! <3

I was in two minds whether to keep him, but the tertiary didn’t fit my plans, so I just threw him up for sale rather than exalt him because he was too pretty! He’s an oldie, but a goodie. c:

“I won’t be available.”

Imagine you’re at work and your boss asks you to come in on Saturday. Saturday is usually your day off–coming in Saturdays is not an obligation to keep your job. Maybe you were going to watch a movie with a friend, or maybe you were just going to lie in bed and eat ice cream for eight hours, but either way you really, really don’t want to give up your day off.

If you consider yourself a millennial you’ve probably been raised to believe you need to justify not being constantly at work. And if you’re a gen-Z kid you’re likely getting the same toxic messages that we did. So in a situation like that, you might be inclined to do one of three things:

Tell your boss you’d rather not give up your day off. Cave when they pressure you to come in anyway, since you’re not doing anything important.

Tell your boss you’d rather not give up your day off. Over-apologize and worry that you looked bad/unprofessional.

Lie and say you’ve got a doctor’s appointment or some other activity that feels like an adequate justification for not working.

The fact is, it doesn’t matter to your boss whether you’re having open heart surgery or watching anime in your underwear on Saturday. The only thing that affects them is the fact that you won’t be at work. So telling them why you won’t be at work only gives them reason to try and pressure you to come in anyway.

If you say “I won’t be available,” giving no further information, you’d be surprised how often that’s enough. Be polite and sympathetic in your tone, maybe even say “sorry, but I won’t be available.” But don’t make an excuse. If your boss is a professional individual, they’ll accept that as a ‘no’ and try to find someone else. 

But bosses aren’t always professional. Sometimes they’re whiny little tyrants. So, what if they pressure you further? The answer is–politely and sympathetically give them no further information.

“Are you sure you’re not available?” “Sorry, but yes.”

“Why won’t you be available?” “I have a prior commitment.” (Which you do, even if it’s only to yourself.)

“What’s your prior commitment?” “Sorry, but that’s kind of personal.”

“Can you reschedule it?” “I’m afraid not. Maybe someone else can come in?”

I used to be like "Oh crap, they're short on [one of my days off]. I need an excuse if they ask me to work it."

Now?

Not so much. Now I'm like "Yeah soz, I can't do it. I'm busy" and I don't feel obligated to say why.

Why should I? I'm not contracted for that day, and I'm allowed to make plans for it, even if my plans are only "Hit up a pokestop for my daily and spend the rest of the day in my PJs watching detective shows and writing shippy fic."

How someone spends their day off is up to them. They are not obliged to offer it up to those in a higher paygrade for Judgement on the activity's Importance.

I've had to tell coworkers the same. They've been grouchy all shift about coming in on their days off, either because they were looking forward to the downtime, or doing something they'd planned.

They're stuck where I was, in needing to justify themselves and there's no bloody need.

If you want the overtime for the extra money -- fine. That's okay, but don't have your arse in your hands with moodiness all day.

If you just caved, do better at standing your ground next time.

Flexibility is required in a lot of jobs, especially where cover is concerned, but flexibility doesn't mean asking "How high?" when your boss tells you to jump.

You're allowed a life outside of your job.
