Summary: You’re just a timid teen who lives with the proxies.
The fireplace crackled and rain pittered against the window. You picked a raindrop in your head to race the others down the glass. In the distance you saw the guys coming back from a mission. Your mood lightened but you didn’t openly show it. You kinda felt like a dog excited to see its owners coming home which was embarrassing. Considering your past rough home life you were grateful they kept you around. You were their dog who waited by the window for them and fetched what they asked for because if you were going to stay here rent free you figured you’d help out around the house.
Brian stomped inside while hauling Toby on his back. He was knocked out cold. You watched him drop the boy on the couch then looked back outside to see Tim pacing around the porch cussing up a storm. The mission must not of went so well. “Y/N bring me the first aid kit.” And just like the good kid that you were, you fetched.
You hurried back to Brian’s side with the first aid kit then watched as he cleaned his wounds. The blood still made you cringe but they said you’d get used to it. “Is he ok?” You ask while looking Toby over. He had a large gash across his temple, blood leaked down the side of his face. “Dumbass hit his head.” Brian replied. You looked back outside to see if Tim had calmed down, he didn’t so you decided to go talk to him.
The cool damp air hit you hard after being inside in the warm all day. The rain cleared your nostrils of the stuffy smoke/mildew/blood smell of the house. Tim was mumbling under his breath and shaking his head like he was having an argument with himself. You cleared your throat to make your presence known. He turned to you with tired eyes that said he was already fed up. “Go back inside before you freeze your ass off.” He grumbled but you didn’t listen, instead you went and sat on the bench in front of him. “Can’t I talk to you?” Tim rolled his eyes then leaned back against the banister. “Talk about what?” He sighed to which you just shrugged. You didn’t really have a specific topic in mind, you just wanted to talk. “Fine.” Tim took one last drag from his cigarette before flicking it into the rain. “What have you done all day?” He looked to you with his arms crossed. “I ate breakfast, I cleaned the living AND the kitchen, then I did laundry and took a nap, then you came home.” You replied. He chuckled but it sounded sarcastic. “Eventful.” You thought about asking how the mission went but you knew they didn’t like you knowing what they got up to so you didn’t poke your nose in. He saw you rubbing your arms and your cheeks turning pink from the wind and it kinda broke his heart. “You cold?” “I’m ok.” He didn’t buy that so he shrugged off his heavy coat and laid it in your lap which you didn’t decline. It was warm and plenty big enough for you. It smelled like cigarettes and cinnamon but not the sweet kind of cinnamon, the spicy kind like fireball or hot tamales. You pulled your knees to your chest and stuffed them in the coat as well. Now you were warm. To Tim you were pathetic but in the nicest way possible. You were like a scared puppy who got kicked too many times so you tried baring your teeth to those around you even though that never worked because behind the bark you were still just a puppy. You reminded him a lot of himself, maybe that was why he felt the need to take care of you.
Tim always softened around you. He couldn’t stay mad when you were around. He reached out and pet your head. You lean into the touch of his hand combing through your hair. “You’re a good kid, you know that?” “Promise?” He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Yeah, I promise.” He then pulled you to your feet. “Let’s go in before you get sick.” He gave you a light shove towards the door, you stumbled a bit, looking back at him you watched as he laughed. At least he was in a better mood.
