TOS got its morality from Gene Roddenberry, who was a utopian futurist. His core belief was that humanity would survive its flirtation with nuclear war and grow up, shedding childish things like organized religion & racism. Gene Roddenberry was also a horny man, and that's reflected in early Trek too. At least as far as he could take it in 1966.
