she's only about 3 blueberries tall :3
the positioning of transfem hypervisibility and transmasc invisibility as two opposing forces is so insidious and dangerous because it reinforces the status quo where trans men's voices are already valued over trans women's
trans women can never speak because we're already apparently soaking up all the attention... nevermind that the "attention" is fearmongering government propaganda
trans women can take up no space, because any amount of attention is further proof that we hog the spotlight from trans men. our visibility is thought of as coming at the cost of that of trans men. so if a trans man speaks over us or silences us, he's just seen as balancing the scales. but our visibility and theirs are not actually opposing forces. a decrease in visibility for trans women is not an increase for trans men. it's just a decrease
It also assumes that we're actually getting space. It's like, we have wanted signs up so we don't get to have any other flyers up.
No one sees our opinions, or takes, or love, or joy. They see ONLY that we're a big boogey man. Arguably, we're not hyper visible, we're hyper targeted. Every thing I've ever seen as Transmasc Invisibility, mostly applies to Trans Women too
honestly yes "hypervisibility" is such a ridiculous way to put it. it's deliberately redefining our persecution for the purpose of framing it as the equal opposite of a transmasc issue
it's frankly insulting as fuck. the problem is not that we're "too visible" the problem is the hatred and the caricaturing, but because our issues just have to be reduced to being the counterpart to some man shit, they have to frame it like it's a problem of "visibility." fuck off
broadly speaking all "is it acceptable to headcanon this ostensibly, presumably cismale character as transmasc" questions fall into three categories; Dipper Pines, Ralsei, and Chihiro Fujisaki.
to be clear
Dipper can be read either way, and the fact is that the character is written with the intention of being a relatively gender conforming cisgender boy. I encourage you to have your own queer headcanons so long as you respect the trans girls' right to have a contradictory one. There are people in the comments saying "Dipper is accidentally transfem coded" and like... I do not think that he is to the exclusion of other readings. Struggling with masculinity and worrying about being able to perform it is absolutely a thing that men (cis and trans) experience, because masculinity is a construct and real people have incredible depth and individuality.
Ralsei is a character who is being deliberately, implicitly transfem coded, but that has not been made, like, fully explicit. To take this character and go "what if tboy!" generally implies some combination of 1. poor literary analysis, and 2. a desire for this character to not be transfem. The act, in and of itself, of insisting that Ralsei is not transfem while you've played Chapter 5 is materially harmless, but it betrays a perspective on transfemininity that, frankly, i think you need to reconsider.
Chihiro is a transmisogynistic caricature; a fictional expression of the long and violent real history of transfems getting misgendered, murdered, and objectified and the way those three things are connected. To ignore that and treat Chihiro as the text does is not only ignorant of transfemininity, but an endorsement of the real life social forces that get transfeminized people killed.

TINA-6174: Cover Girl Modo
so girlsei nation how are we feeling about chapter 5
Trans Women Face More Injuries Than Cis Ones (It's Not Even Close)
A new study found that injury rates among transgender women are significantly higher than injuries among cisgender women, based on radiologi
โTransgender women in the study group suffered 8x times as many head injuries as the controls, 36x as many facial injuries, and 5x times as many chest injuries.โ
So much for "protecting women".
For all those wondering why the title doesn't say this, it's because the study doesn't say this either.
While the cause of the injuries may be obvious, it's not technically known, and science speaks for what is known.
Some (a minority) of the trans women injured reported that it was violence, and some (a smaller minority) reported that it was intimate partner violence, but most did not report anything and the stats are just from the fact that they needed treatment and so went through the radiology department with their injuries.

Obsessed with these Ralsei sprites because it's so obvious that underneath the carefully maintained veneer of plot-critical-support-NPC neutrality he is extremely full of passion about his interests and a general zest for life. He is not beating the rich inner world allegations.
